Very active thread none the less. Seems the Palin thread is taking away attention.

Might I ask who was the first choice? To me it is clear that Obama is the least qualified canidate and I know the JFK history, but he was very conservative compared to Obama and I feel that John Edwards and the press did a very big diservice to Hillary and I belive Sarah Palin will pickup her very disinfranchised voters.

Last olive branch I will extend to liberals. Let's get back to Palin being a wonderful choice for the McCain ticket. Isn't she just a breath of fresh air compared to mean partisan Joe Biden. Hockey mom with executive experience couldn't be more night and day with these two tickets.

Congratulations to the MU tigers on beating a very good Ill team. The offense looked good and should have had a few more points. The defense was o.k and will need to improve to be a national champion but this is a very good team they played.

Got out for a couple of hours prior to the heat in the middle of the day. Caught a 14" Rainbow on a jig and 4 other nice rainbows on Chartruse rooster tails trolling. Next time I will be with fly rod in hand to get some bass or blue gill action. Is there a topwater bite on Lower Taney any time of the year?

Unions have helped so many industries. The latest is the automobile industry where the big 3 are almost bankrupt. If Japanese manufactures want to implement a production change on an assembly line it is in place in 30 days. The american companies get to wait to hear the official union position and maybe get their change made in half a year. No wonder they are about kill them off. Don't get me wrong they served thier puporse years ago but everyone wanted so much more each round of "negotiations" that companies just cannot afford some of these wonderful union benefits and jobs go overseas because like it or not we are in a global economy and companies will just leave the U.S if you jack with them too much (Obama has promised it) I'll save you the typing and assume this is George Bush's fault.

At least I identify myself as conservative. And will you admit to being a liberal? You see then you get the respect. I will also admit I was wrong on my earlier post. He did unsuccessfuly run for President so I guess I better rethink my comment.

Believe it or not John McCain is not George Bush and I consider privelaged to have had George Bush as my president. I am very conservative and haven't liked the excessive spending he has allowed Congress and don't agree with everything his administration has done (you won't every hear this from a Clinton supporter he did nothing wrong). But I can tell you this he has done all he could to protect this country and you should respect that and saying "put up with Bush/Cheney" rubs me the wrong way and by the way he was elected to eight years in office by the citizens of this country.

The Presidential election was too close to call. Neither the Republican candidate nor the Democratic candidate had enough votes to win.. There was much talk about ballot recounting, court challenges, etc., but a week-long ice fishing competition seemed the sportsman-like way to settle things. The candidate that caught the most fish at the end of the week would win the election. After much of back and forth discussion, it was decided that the contest take place on a remote frozen lake in northern Minnesota . There were to be no observers present, and both men were to be sent out separately on this isolated lake and return at 5 P.M. with their catch for counting and verification by a team of neutral parties. At the end of the first day, John McCain returned to the starting line and he had ten fish. Soon, Obama returned and had no fish. Well, everyone assumed he was just having another 'bad hair' day or something, and hopefully he would catch up the next day. At the end of the 2nd day John McCain came in with 20 fish and Obama came in again with none. That evening, Harry Reid got together secretly with Obama and said, "Obama, I think John McCain is a low-life, cheatin' son-of-a-gun. I want you to go out tomorrow and don't even bother with fishing. Just spy on him and see just how he is cheating." The next night (after John McCain returns with 50 fish), Harry said to Obama, "Well, tell me, how is John McCain Cheating?" Obama replied, "Harry, you're not going to believe this, but he's cutting holes in the ice!"

I think most here have already made up their minds. What will be interesting is the other fools barely able to tie their shoe laces that are "independent." Interested in hearing the night fishman's perspective on the 30 mph change. .1 to .08 is a one beer change and they will never go zero tolerance because some people go out to Big Cedar or Landing for dinner and have one-two glasses of wine and they are just fine to operate boats. Maybe this is all squat anyway because they don't have the budgets for the fuel and manpower to do much anyway and they ought to start with catching thieves stealing off of docks.

I have only been on the forum since April, and my opinion will be very little in the realm of things here, but the type of administration and policy set by a president is very much important to me as an outdoorsman. These issues are involved with all politics with the very real influence of PETA and the like. A presidential canidate talking about clinging to my guns gets my attention as a sportsman. And I want to know this guy's background because all we know is the man says "Change"
