  1. Wow, welcome to the forum Scuds.. As a lifelong spincaster, your first post hurt my feelings a little bit. But then I got over it, hope we can still share a stream once in a while... Now who is this potter fellow? I am interested in hiring him for next weekend or the weekend after that.. (gotta restock on powerbait first, lol) thank you for the advice, as a spincaster who is trying to learn flyfishing, this advice is perfect.. Even gves me a suggestion for my spincast backup (when I fail miserably at my flycasting). Thanks again to yourself and anyone else who takes the time to answer questions from folks who are here to learn about a particular fishery (how to fish it, preserve it, and cherish it).. You could easily chose to horde your secret "gems", but you realize there is a greater good in sharing your experiences with others. Some take forever to learn this.
  2. Wrench, our entire lives are lust an illusion, and in more ways than one. Not to argue, but there are many ways that I am restricted on forums.. I am not allowed (because of my profession) to discuss certain topics whatsoever.. A self imposed ban if you will, but there's a reason for it. Where I am not restricted, I am totally myself. If I disagree that vehemently, I PM and work it out. Dunno exactly what I am trying to say here, mainly just that this forum should be the one place where it is possible to relax and discuss fishing, be yourself, and have a good time. (eyebrow raised) I didn't know it was you who's been stirring up the trouble round here. This iiiis interesting.. (mainly cause you are a great guy)
  3. Small stream Bass on a top water, there are very few things (besides my lovely wife) that get my heart thumping and my blood boiling like that. Good stuff, and if ya dont know ya should know, ya know?
  4. Thanks for posting this for those who simply cannot contain themselves. I have been a member of forums since being a "troll" was a good thing (a looooong time in forum years) and I must say this: I have ALWAYS been able to ignore aggrivating posts without having to put the poster on ignore. We are all adults here, and all of us are here to discuss a topic we are passionate about. Let's have fun, discuss and debate, while still being civil. I readily recognize the handles of posters that I disagree with, but still being able to see their posts helps gve me insight into their thought process. Life is about learning, and ignoring ANYTHING has never once taught anyone anything.. Has it?
  5. So how does this new law (once te wording is corrected to ban styrofoam) effect those of us who use styrofoam minnow buckets? Ihave one I haven't used in years (don't minnow fish much anymore).... Can anyone post a list of all the fishing related items that have styrofoam in them? Maybe they can ban aluminum cans and those red potato sacks next? Lord knows those two types of items are 80% of the trash I pick up I the Niangua every year.. (another 10% is canoe paddles, life vests, and the occasional drunk floater)...
  6. They say you learn something new everyday, if you're paying attention. Looks like I was lucky enough to owe attention today.. Thanks Al!
  7. back down a bit, but still muddy... Not sure about the numbers, but there was a good 200 fish at the mouth of the spring this morning..
  8. Welcome to the forum! The two lines that run all the way down the bank to the water, through the water and out the other side.. One yellow, one red (if I remember correctly). The yellow line is closer to the dam itself. No boats or bank fisherman past the first line, ni lures can be cast across the yellow line (runs up to a sign that says NO FISHING BEYOND THIS POINT) I had to ask allot of people to come up with a response that seemed right, so this is by no means official.. Simply my understanding of the regs. When you get your reply from MDC, come back and let us know eh?
  9. Don't tell me you've been nibling on the tails and throwing them back? It was a good trip, I can verify...
  10. This has been my experience as well, FWIW.
  11. Boooyaaaaaah! Congrats on setting a goal and achieving it.... I know quite well how rewarding that can be.
  12. You guys are overthinking it.. A simple treble hook (unbaited) and a heavy sinker will do the trick just fine.. But watch out, some of em are real fighters...
  13. Looks like a sweet deal.. Wish I had the scratch for it.
  14. seems like chemically altering my brain to block the receptors or whatever that need the chemical reaction of the nicotine.. That would prolly work (cause nothing else has ever made me want to walk away from them) old enough now to realize how cool they aren't.. Time to quit? I'll call my doctor on monday.. Thanks for the advice.
  15. Any chance that's covered under insurance? How much is a script? (assuming you don't mind sharing that info) I would really like to quit to save my voice (among other anotomical symmetries)
  16. Well shoot.. The first part of your description (no money) fit me to a tee, but the second part (knows how to fish well) shot me back down.. Good luck finding a fishing partner, hope you get a lucky one and place well.. Peace
  17. Dang skippy it is! Man, what a hog.. Thanks for the advice guys, still practicing my baitcasting.. lol
  18. So very true! Nice hook up, troutringer.. Now where's that photo?
  19. Any updates or insights on LOZ? Heading down in the wee hours of the mornin'...
  20. Dang, I always miss the good stuff.. I used to love torching trolls and reporting spammers, but I don't get to check in on my forums as much anymore... Sorry I missed that one.
  21. Just what kinda fisherman are you?! lol
  22. Yes, pet shops. You evil people.. lol
  23. I second this, at least from my personal experience.
  24. Well I'd have cussed ya like a sailor for ruining my fishing! Nah, I'm just kiddin', that'd a been my brother-in-law... Lol seriously though, your little rendition of the guy with the pipe has me rolling, that's freakin' hilarious! And you did what any good fellow angler (trained in river rescue) would have done, eh? lol, still giggling.... Cha-cha right into the bluff hole! Sometimes, boys, it's not so much the story as how ya tell it... Now what was this thread about?
  25. Nono, they don't allow them, they just do it anyways... (ahem, Wrench!).. Seriously, I think it's against the rules or something.........
