  1. Geez I am easy...

  3. Hopeitworks I like shiny when it's clear, and shiny when it's not. I like shiny in the cold water, as well as when it's hot Shiny here Shiny there I do NOT have shiny underwear :-) I have been messing around with color-shifting paint, and that practice has made its way into my jerkbait collection. I hope the video attached correctly.
  4. I've been pittlin' here and there the last couple of weeks. I had some deep cranks all painted / rigged and ready for the Legend of Lake Fork Tourney in May, but then was just told this week about a training schedule change that made me cancel the trip :-(
  5. Thank you Mr. Eric - great article! If I may add: In spring, I like to throw the double fluke rig as far as I can and immediately reel 5-10' of line back to me as fast as I can once the rig hits the water. It looks awfully erratic on top, with both baits jumping around and over each other. Then I just kill it..... wait for a 2 or 3 count..... twitch... twitch... (if the top water bite is decent, this is usually when your arm get broken ). If no bites, I'll reel back in and start over. My best success with this is 10' or less once water is in upper 50's / lower 60's and C-L-E-A-R....

  7. I'll preface: I had gastric roux en y surgery three years ago (gastric bypass). When I lost the 200 or so pounds, my thermostat has been funky since. Said all that to say: I get a heck of a lot colder, quicker, and stay colder longer, now than in the other 40 years of life on this planet. I fish all twelve months per year in Northwest AR, so I have become a pretty good judge of cold weather gear. If I were fishing today (truck showed 7° this morning), I'd wear: Under Armour 4.0 base layer bottom and top Fleeced lined jeans wool socks long sleeve tshirt heavy sweatshirt / hoody Cabela's Guidewear bibs and jacket. Balaclava every zip pocket in the guidewear will also have a disposable hand warmer - I buy them by the box.
  8. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery, brother Quill!
  9. Looks like they are about $100 discounted - saw and thought I'd share. www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Zillion_TWS_Casting_Reels/descpage-TWSZ.html
  10. I have a little fishing money on the way next week, and surely appreciate all of the input
  11. Well, the rod thread is going so well - thought I'd try a reel thread for Wiggle Warts. I just can't seem to cast the dang thing more than 30 or 40 feet. And that's with 10lb Sunline Reaction Fluorocarbon on a Lew's 5.3:1 Any ideas on a reel that will sling a wart 1/2 mile are greatly appreciated.
  12. 63/64 in Ventris today.
  13. not yet
  14. ***DISCLAIMER*** I am simply a weekend angler who likes to tinker with baits. The issues I have outlined below are from operator error (ME). Stump: I got a few in, and tried them (couple of pics to follow). I figured out a few things as I went (I added comments to each picture). Overall, it's a neat concept. In a pinch or time crunch, I see lots of benefits. But, for most times, I am going to stick to painting blanks.
  15. Dang it, Stump. I ordered a few yesterday.. I'll put up some pics once they arrive and I find a few minutes to apply.
  16. probably would have $5 or so in them total. not bad at all
  17. yes sir - lots of success as well. I tie the front runner to the main line (15lb or so mono) and then use braid between the front runner and spook. somewhere around 18" to 2' of braid leader. braid seems to let the spook dance and dart better. if they are really aggressive, pop your rod tip up every now and then and the front runner will hop out of the water
  18. That last pic of the beaver-baits is an awesome color! My favorite drop shot worm (when I can find them) is a smoke worm with purple flakes - ever do that color by chance?
  19. This was from last summer bubba! Lol!! But we had a GREAT time and I caught one that was 5.5 or so
  20. Great bait. Sucks to tune (for me anyway). It's harder to get back in line than any other bait I've used so far. I will also mention that the bait running a little different after the first fish wasn't bothering me enough to put it down Public Service Announcement: DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT reel this bait up to a stump, crash into said stump, then allow bait to float motionless after the crash - unless you have really good line tied on
  21. If I missed it already, please accept apologies and point me to the info - Anyone else experience the dummy baits getting misaligned after catching a fish? Took Fisher (my Golden Retriever Pup) out last Saturday on Beaver for his first trip (8 months old). Anyway, caught a 16.5" or so on the second cast. After that, though, I had a heck of a time get the dummy baits to run correctly - they didn't want to spin at the same speed. One thing I did notice is that keeping the rod tip pointed at the water seemed to help a little,
  22. LOL!!
  23. Agreed - twice in the same day! I rally like to have some "shiny" on top waters as well. P.S. We have 101 days of being buddies until we have to not be nice for one day, then back to buddies - so let's make the most of it (November 25th - Hogs / Tigers: "One day it'll matter...." LOL!!!)
  24. It's not the colors on the Terminator - It's the flashy graphics on the two buzzers :-) Besides, every time you catch one you get to say (wait for it.........):
  25. Agree on the Loon color (got one last week). Instead of Powder, I went with Terminator (got it last week as well). up in the clear end of Beaver, they seem to like a splash of purple, so I thought perhaps the Terminator color will fare well. It's basically a Mouse color with some flashy purple.
