  1. Thanks for your help F2F.
  2. Does this mean that you got outfished again? Thanks for the pics and the report.
  3. Myself and Kdan are looking to visit the Mountain Fork in search of a large brown. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Is broken bow a cold water tailrace such as trd and bsd? We know nothing of the area, so help with lodging is a must also. No guide service is required. Thanks.
  4. Is Shimano american?
  5. This is a really good point Bman. Most newcomers to the sport are unaware that it can be used for more than a visual reference preceeding a strike. Most are so focused on the indicator, that they are unaware of what is below the surface. I like your reference as a "tool". Pin point drifting, sighting in, depth control, and the ability to lace an entire run of water. I started out fly fishing without an indicator, and like the old dog and new tricks, that's me. Heck, indicators weren't even on the drawing boards back then. Good to hear from you again.
  6. That is some really good information that Gavin passed along. The only thing that I would add is, don't be afraid to use a longer leader/tippet combination. The less contact that your fly line has with the water, the better. I use a 15 foot leader/tippet combination. With about 2 feet of fly line hanging out of your rod tip, you will be aware of everything that going on under the surface. Let's us know how you fare.
  7. Good report Buzz. It was a great day to be out and about.
  8. Great catch Duane!
  9. You're so good at that. It keeps your net from getting all smelly and slimey.
  10. Sorry about the lunkers being gun shy. The "oldtimers", that I met up with on tuesday, worked them over pretty hard the first two days. I don't know what their count was today, but for the first two days the count was 10 landed, with about 10 more hooked up and lost. We did leave you two "good" fish in the twin falls area. Glad you had a good day on the dry fly. How do you remove a 32 hook from a fish's mouth?
  11. Thx Duane. Some of the guys were there today and got six between them. Not exceptionally good by their standards, but I'm going to watch them and learn. How did you and MC do?
  12. I told this story once before on the crane creek forum. In the mid to late 80's, I caught a 2.5 lb "brown" at the tressel bridge on crane. It was either an accidental, or unknown stocking, or it migrated from RR thru TR. The latter probably being the case.
  13. Amen to spring! I will be at RR on tuesday to meet up with some very good friends and outstanding sportsmen. An oldtimers get together, so to speak. Good luck and tight lines to you as well on your upcoming trip.
  14. I still say it's overkill. His message is not the issue here. It's more of a shove it down your throat approach.
  15. Here lately this forum reads more like a field and stream magazine. 2 pages on a fishing story and 59 pages on advertising. People used to talk about fishing, now they want to know where to buy thingamabobbers and solo canoes. Kudos to the guys posting fishing reports and leaving the other bs at home. The problem, as you stated, is self inflicted in most cases. Rick Osborn
  16. I counted 13 times. How about we start a trout alliance on the big piney.
  17. TUCKERED OUT- fishless on hickory creek
  18. You and the game warden will be the only ones present. It ended on the 8th. Sorry.
  19. Aftershock!! When do you and your lovely bride head up north?
  20. Mark builds a quality rod. You now have a fly fishing tool that will give you years of enjoyment and dependability.
  21. I hear you on Taney. I've almost forgot what that place looks like. Hopefully, by april, we will have some predictable water. There was several dead lunkers at bssp a few weeks back. I wonder if Duane had his 12 footer over there? Good to hear from you Murdoc.
  22. Glad to have you back Trav!
  23. Thanks for the info Justin. A 30 inch river brown is a respectable fish. Hope you land the next one you hook up with. All of the browns at taney start out around the 13 inch mark.
  24. If you are a member you can access igfa.org and bring up international angler publication for jan/feb. If this fish gained 40 plus pounds in 6 years, I would say that he was eating anything that didn't eat him first. The seeforellens are more adapted to a freshwater lake enviroment like their sea run counterparts. They may even be the same strain. I think seeforellens were originated in Scotland.
  25. I would have to be able to see him, to catch him Drew. I'm afraid there is too much "big water" for that.
