  1. Fantastic news Don!! I mentioned the hatchery earlier because a friend of mine recovered his rod from there. Same as you, just walked off and left it lay. An easy mistake to make with all of the gear we pack each fishing trip. It's hard to find a more honest bunch, than a group of trout fishermen. Thanks for letting us know. Laker67
  2. I read a post on John Wilson' site. According to the 2 fishermen, they were directly below the 02 injection system and caught nothing. They were even using bait. Zip, Zero, Nothing.

  4. Did those midges taste like chicken?
  5. I don't ever remember it being 40 below in Missouri.
  6. Have you noticed that blue herons are not as populated in trout parks as other waters? Maybe the water is too clear or too "hot" for them.
  7. KSB, Glad to hear you got into some good quality fish. Good report! Although MDC won't acknowledge it, it seems that beavers, muskrats, and especially river otters, die from" lead" poisoning quite often in the trout parks and surrounding waters. Good fishing on your upcoming trip.
  8. Congrats on the slam. I've done it a few times on the Norfork, but never on the "White".
  9. Docks and brush are a natural attractor to shad. About any structure below the surface of the water will grow algea. The shad are attracted to the algea for feeding. Plankton gets trapped on the algea as it drifts along in the current. Boat lifts, the encapselated foam blocks, dock cables, all grow algea and trap plankton for the shad to feed on. Crappie lay in ambush between the foam blocks, brush, etc. The shad's preferred temp is about 45 degrees, which translates to about 8 to 10 feet below the surface on LOZ at this point. That's why Lilley and Babbler were catching them at the 8 to 12 foot mark. When the wind is blowing, plankton drifts into the docks and gets trapped or detained long enough for shad to congregate. All fish on LOZ, follow the shad.
  10. I was making reference to killing the fish, not how one compared to the other in taste. I'm in favor of the angler having the option of keeping or releasing.
  11. I want to know what makes that bass any different from the crappie and the walleye that "you" eat.
  12. Thanks John. I had a most enjoyable conversation with Quin.
  13. Yes sir! Same rules apply, but a boat cannot enter the slot area, with a fish caught outside the trophy area, that falls within the slot restrictions.
  14. That would be legal DD as long as you counted that fish towards your daily limit. The unforseen problem would be having one fish and two people.
  15. John, As always a very informative report. Thanks! I ran into a very knowledgable fisherman from your part of the country on Tuesday. His name was Quinn Berry. Any relationship? He was fishing Taneycomo, I think he said for the first time. I was unable to talk to him at the end of the day to see how he liked our waters.
  16. Duckydoty and Motroutbum! Boy now there's a pair to draw to.
  17. Put me on the list for "white". The fish will be "purple hazed" for the next year!
  18. This is what I found in the codebook. It applies only to trout waters with length limits. Which basically would include all because of the brown trout." Head and tail to be kept intact while on the waters or the banks." If I am reading it correctly, it does not include transportation after you leave the stated areas.
  19. Big K, There is a sign at the hatchery access that reads: All fish possessed must have the head and tail intack while on the waters of Lake Taneycomo. No more than 4 fish per person in possession while on the waters of Lake Taneycomo.
  20. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I've been at Taney for the day. The info that wrench gave you is right on. I fish a private dock straight across the lake from Knotty Pine. It's been good the past 2 weeks. My buddy and I caught 53 total for the weekend. We had almost as many for the previous weekend. We kept 20 for a fish fry and turned the rest loose. We are getting them 6 to 10 foot suspended on the swing. Good luck SIO3.
  21. The fishing reports have been few and far between as of late. I just returned from a upper lake trip. The water was on the way down when I got there about 10:30. I fished until 4:30 this afternoon. I caught maybe 30 fish on sowbugs. Nothing big. Lots of people and lots of fish. I ran into several people from Arkansas today. What does that tell you? The fish seemed to have a little more "zip" to them today, as compared to a week ago Tuesday. The outlets were loaded up with almost as many fish as people.
  22. It's 23 degrees here at LOZ this morning. Hope you all are at a heated crappie dock Phil. Good luck and be safe out on the lake.
  23. Great report Greg! I'm glad to hear you got into some quality rainbows.
  24. Hey Don, My wife just reminded me of an incident similiar a few years back. Turns out the missing equipment was turned in at the hatchery. Good luck.
