  1. This is photo I took during the last total eclipse. The light on the water is from the camera flash.
  2. From 2005. 38.5 inch brown trout from lake taneycomo. IGFA fly rod, line class, world record and former Missouri state record.
  3. I went to get mine at age 60, in person, and the sales clerk told me that it did not include the trout permit. So at age 63 while talking to an agent at bssp, he informed me that it did include it. So I missed out 3 years worth of trout permits. Bought it at age 63
  4. I did but my wife bought her's online. There is some paper work to fill out or use to be when she got her's 5 years ago.
  5. You are welcome. Be sure and take a picture of both sides Pete.. The agent at branson wants to see the reverse side for some reason. No big deal he is very polite and friendly.
  6. Don't forget that when you reach age 60 you can buy a lifetime fishing for $35 that also includes the lifetime trout permit.
  7. I don't know if they are special or were just the choice at the time. I will tell you this, they are the midgets of the rainbow breed.
  8. How did the trout resorts fair after the 2017 flood? I know one is River of LIfe and not sure of the other. Justin Spencer I think. And what would their opinion be on this topic?
  9. I like seeing the indicators in the trees at christmas time
  10. I was unable to retrieve this from my wife's old phone, so I took a picture of a picture. My last lunker brown for 2020 caught at thanksgiving
  11. Sounds like you witnessed the best, of the best, wade fishing guide at lake taneycomo. As far as fishing what you prefer to fish, sometimes it is all about the fishing and not so much the catching. Fooling a fish on a preferred fly is rewarding. My method is scuds. No indicators are damaged or harmed in my style of fishing.
  12. If the last rainbow stocking was in 1964, they were most likely the McCloud River strain. Why not just add more of that strain? It should not interfere with the reproduction cycle already there. Might even help speed things up.
  13. Decided to make one last trip today before the colder weather sets in. Headed to bssp zone 3 to fish for some smallmouth and goggle eye. I make my first drift into my favorite smally and goggle eye hole. Out of the rocks comes this shadow that I know is the next world record goggle eye. Turns out it's this stinkin ole 4lb trout.
  14. I am going to drop my lunker trout goal back to 50 this next year. I am also trying to help my wife get 15 next year. I had 35 this year {2020} and she had 10. She also had the 3 biggest fish. A 10.19, a 8.65, and a 7 lber that I lost at the net. I might still be in the doghouse over that one. Hope everyone has a great 2021 fishing season.
  15. Keep that a priority guys! After my cancer surgery, gone wrong, in 2012, I was pretty much disabled for most of a year. Thanks to encouragement from my wife Sandy, and a great buddy Corky, to haul me out fishing, I was able to recover enough to start fishing again. If you don't make yourself go out and do it, you could lose it real quick. Go fish, that's what we have worked all these years to be able to do.
  16. I like that water, but it is difficult to wade now with minimum flow. We use to cross over at the c and r line and hope like heck that they didn't run water before we got back.
  17. The wife and I thought about coming down there this week. If we had not gone to taney on Monday we would have. I miss fishing that area. It has been three years. I would like for Sandy to get a chance to experience it. Maybe next good weather week before they start running a bunch of water again.
  18. There used to be a little overlook area on the hwy 5 . You could look down and see that area. I think it was called goats bluff over look or something like that. That's where we came up with the name. Also Charlie Cook's Island we referred to as RIP island.
  19. I was guessing that but had not heard that name. Years back we called it goats bluff. thanks Pete
  20. Ackerman access? Love those cutthroat, great fish.
  21. Sandy's birthday was Sunday. Earlier in the week I had asked if there was anything special that she wanted to do. She said that she wanted to fish bssp on sunday, and then go to taneytown on monday and tuesday. Gotta love this woman. Fishing was good at bssp. We caught lots and lots of little fish, a very enjoyable day with decent weather. Stream was not crowded. Off to taney this AM. Water level was at 705.0 which is a terrible level. We fished hard and only managed a dozen or so fish between us. But again a nice weather day. When we first walked to the creek I counted 5 guys that I would have bet money that they were bait fishing. As it turned out, they were, only there was a gal and a kid in addition. I politely quoted the regulations for the trophy area. Two had a very scared look on their face and yelled up to the wife and kid. They packed up and left immediately. The other three were more skeptical and asked several more questions until I gave them directions to the nearest regulation sign and mentioned that the game warden has been checking permits on a regular basis. I told the first group that there was a public access area at cooper creek and near the Hollister bridge. They were very polite and I honestly think they were oblivious to the regulations. And I know that that is no excuse but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. A big crowd showed up around 1:00 today. We caught fish but it was tuff. Water schedule for tomorrow is predicted to be the 705, so we allowed to just fish the day and come home. It was a great time to just be out and fishing. I only took a few pictures just for a record of her special 65th birthday trip. We enjoyed a shore lunch today as we watched the crowd roll in and marveled at the great weather.
  22. Merry Christmas Ham. You came a far sight closer to your 100 goal than I did. I watched your numbers increase weekly and really thought you would make it easily. That is fishing for you. I set out to catch 100 lunker trout this year and fell way short. 35 is my total so far and time is running thin. I am fishing the next 3 days and hope for another fish or two. It has been 4 years since I have had a 100 fish season, { 3lb and bigger} . I really thought this year had promise. Then we all got hit with covid and high water, then more high water. I will probably set my goal at 50 next year and see how that goes. Merry Christmas to all. Stay healthy out there.
  23. unless you are really good at roll casting streamers and such, 50 gives you very little backcasting room in most spots. if you are spin casting, no problem.
  24. 705 to 707 had been the norm 24 hr a day
  25. thanks. charge for what?
