  1. fly2fish, My original post was to increase the lenght limit on browns only, not to change the slot on rainbows. But, making some changes in the slot would be in the fishermen's favor also. It would be nice if that could all fall together in one shot. Anyone from MDC out there lurking? Tell us what you think. Thanks!
  2. Thanks Phil, I know that you have dealt with these issues in the past. As far as changing anything below Fall Creek, are you saying that they would leave the 20 inch brown limit in effect, and only apply the 24 to the upper lake?
  3. Thanks for getting on board Murdoc. Let us know what response you get. I'm not quite sure what you mean by the "slot area".
  4. KK, I'm only talking about 24 inch on brown trout. Nothing would change as far as people wanting to keep and eat rainbows. Below Fall Creek you can keep any size rainbow. A 24 inch female brown could weight 9 pounds easily.
  5. Murdoc, I don't think things would be any different than they are right now. I'm sure that violations would remain the same. Fortunately, violations are at a minimum on the upper end. Do you know how we could lobby for this 24 inch limit. There has to be a way to get the attention of MDC , to either say yes or no. But I don't know where to start.
  6. jj, You are correct, and we all do it including weighing the fish in the net. I even think that they frown somewhat at using a net, but I think that the net is best way to land a fish for release purposes. The fish never leaves the water unless you do a quick weighing by hooking your scale in the handle of the net. I personally will not weigh a fish unless I think that it is 10 pounds or bigger. Three years ago, I was warned by a park ranger that I should not be weighing the fish. That happened at roaring during c & r.
  7. rps, No new records could ever be established if C & R were in force. I think that only T-como is capable of producing any future records. I'm refering to Missouri state records for trout. As far as I am aware, MDC will not accept a record without verification by their people. C & R in the trout parks is that the fish is returned immediately back to the water. No weighing, no pictures, no possession.
  8. Arkansas has enacted a 24 inch minimum length limit for brown trout on Bull shoals & Norfolk tailwaters effective Jan. 2009. What is it going to take to get that same 24 inch limit established for Tablerock tailwaters?
  9. Ducky, Rumor has it that "you"caught that 31 inch fish. Really nice fish! Any truth to that rumor? You picked the right summer to go to Alaska. All you have missed is high water day & night. Stay safe Duane.
  10. Murdoc, You have reason to be alarmed. With all of the sightings lately, it's kind of spooky at night. That white SUV that was on the north side of the parking lot was still there when I left on sunday afternoon. nobody knows what happened to him, but I'm watching the news for a missing person alert. With the squid, bigfoot, the 2 wolves that are still on the loose, the barracuda, and the snake that Carl swore was an anaconda, I think I've fished my last night at T-como.
  11. hey chief, Dinner is served. looks like you are the only rain on this picnic.
  12. The new VP nominee
  13. Hey Chief, I thought this started as a "fun" thread, so excuse me all to h--- for being wrong!
  14. I knew Beeson would'nt let me down. His new name will be spiderman, with his glow in the dark spiderman rod. Send all that fishing gear to me, my pawnshop is now open.
  15. Welcome! I like your way of thinking! Where at in mid mo?
  16. Bigred, That's the intrique of the sport, you never know what the next cast will bring. But believe me when I say, be patient, keep casting your fly rod, it can happen.
  17. Terry Beeson will have a field-day with this one! Come on Beeson, don't keep us waiting!
  18. KK, They are the modern day "Pterodactyl" minus teeth. When you spook one at night, that squall will make the hair on your neck quiver!
  19. I talked with one of the "private" hatchery owners a few years back. He said that he had a permit from MDC that allowed him to kill 7 blue herons a year, on his property only. He said that he kept losing track of how many he had eliminated and would have to start over on the 7 count. Next time you go by the new brown trout rearing facility, count how many blue herons are standing at the end of the raceways. The raceway itself is covered, but the ends are wide open. I counted 21 at 7:30 last Wed morning.
  20. jd, Blue herons and lamprey eels. I'm not 100% sure that it is a lamprey, but it looks similiar.
  21. Welcome back out the lake Trav!
  22. That does it, I'm going to Kansas to fish this winter. They don't have anything in the water that will eat you or pull you in.
  23. Let's all come together as Americans, and show our support for the candidate of our choice. If you support the policies and character of McCain, please drive with your headlights on during the day. If you support Obama, please drive with your headlights off at night.
  24. Be afraid, be very afraid! Enter the water at your own risk! I heard that they yellow taped the access road.
  25. I think that the red mini-van fell victim to the Taneycomo Squid. Don't wade in the upper waters from now through December!
