  1. Years ago a friend and I were hunting public ground during the fall hunt around Truman and he shot one. Brought it in with a "RuPaul" call. (seriously... he did shoot one).
  2. Glad you had a good time Dan and thanks for the report. I was planning a JF trip in early June with gravel bar camping but I believe that's been nixed. Lower back surgery in the next few weeks. Looks like the canoe won't be out till mid to late summer. Oh well... the lower river holds some doozie's! (with comfortable accomodations).
  3. Young boys telling cougar stories makes me wish I was 16 again. Sorry Jeremy... it was too easy.
  4. Iowan's are some big ol' boys. Tuff but stupid. Glad them corn fed suckers don't know how to use the internet! Backlash from Iowans's to follow...
  5. C'mon Ness! We're all waiting for the pic of an "animal" with "tits". You know... the girl we should've married.
  6. Thanks for the report. I was last up there on 4/1 and nothing was happening that day. Caught just four with only one being a keeper.

    Ouch

Geez. I sure wish Mizzou would have stayed put to continue our "tradition rich" rivalries with West Virginia and TCU. And when Texas, Oklahoma, Okie St., and Tech all bolt (Oh wait... they're tied to the Big XII with the new 6 year contract! No way they can afford those exit fees!) So... IF they bolt, I get downright starry-eyed dreaming of future match-ups against the likes of SMU, Rice, School of the Ozarks, and the University of Phoenix. And really... why should Mizzou care if the Big XII were to lose it's BCS accreditation a few years down the road? Good gosh... we've got "rivalries" to maintain! The nerve...
  8. Me too Eric... meaning the stretch above for fishing. Didn't look before typing this but I think our float was about 10 miles total and we camped on the river overnight. Caught some decent fish. My wife uses GH for her all-girls floats and she's always come back with pics of nice fish caught. She learned from the best (her first husband). I'm kidding... really... I'm kidding... seriously guys... I'm kidding! He caught a channel once and submitted it to the MDC for a state record... as a Grouper.
  9. They've got a nice area for RV camping. Give them a call and look'em up online.
  10. Actually... I believe he's referring to the gauge at Buck Hollow (Hwy. 17 bridge).

    Ouch

They'll give a hoot if we start beating everybody. It's gonna take time to gain respect. Heck... we're better than Texas A&M on the gridiron or the hardcourt.
  12. I'd think there's surely some on the lower somewhere. I've never floated further down than Rush, but it's been awhile and can't say I remember seeing any or not.
  13. I take a ton of tackle... and HOPE for a few good lures.
  14. Fish around lily pads. The stetches you're floating I don't know if they're that abundant though. Lily pads I mean...
  15. Great White's were introduced to the trout parks years ago. They disguise themselves donning waders on opening day.

    Petrino

Who cares... Mizzou got DBG. He'll outplay Petrino's decision making on the field. Then outplay him for women down the road.
  17. I was 26. So many kids here in KC follow their favorite players on teams that win. Ain't like it was from the mid 70's to the mid 80's.
  18. Thanks for the info QB. I'm gonna look into those traps.
  19. Thanks for the pics Stoneroller. After seeing the range of the recluse, I've began searching for a home in Washington state!
  20. Your neighbor had a big-assed calf Wayne. I get the wolf spiders too but the recluse have been more prevasive the last few years. ID is easy if you know what the heck kinda spider it is. (I know you do Wayne). A recluse is small-bodied with long legs. Usually the body is tannish, sometimes a tad darker. There's a distinct backwards violin mark from front to back. I'm not a bug dude (entomolgist... I think) but I know what a recluse looks like. And I'll kill every one I see. By the way, they don't spin the kind of webs outside that catch mosquitos. Orbital type spiders do that. A recluse is a sloppy web builder. Google it for a pic.
  21. Been fighting them here at the house for about the last four years now. Killed one last week that was definately one of the biggest I've dealt with. They don't get that big, but a full grown adult with it's legs spread out is a bit freaky when it's a dang Brown Recluse. I've read that 75 to 80% of homes in Missouri have them. And yes... they are hard to get rid of because of their reclusive nature. We've tried those "spray bombs" to no avail. Like Al said, killed plenty of the bugs they eat but only a few spiders. Most I kill are in my garages, rec. room, and laundry room. All located downstairs where it's moist. Kill a few upstairs but not many. Still... not many is TOO many. We've got our woodpile a little too close to the house I think. But if the stats are right, 75 to 80% of Missouri homes don't have a woodpile. And if they do... then Arkansas has to be at least 101%...
  22. as a pauper killing a prince. Hiawatha's teacher's claim to having a 6th grade education had no merit. Grade equivelents weren't even known in Hiawatha's day. His so called "teacher" only wished Hiawatha was a Frenchman as he was... dramatically upgrading the "courage curve" for the French Nation as a whole. But alas... Hiawatha was to find how exhilerating it was to meet his Pamela in the near future... despite the consequences from her former lover...
  23. Never owned a cell phone and never will. When I'm gone somewhere or my wife's gone somewhere... well golly gee! Somehow we manage to be able to keep in touch. Keep talkin' on your cells while driving. Or better yet, text while doing so. Jeez... last thing me or my wife wanna worry about is if we have coverage while on a float. Technology sucks.
  24. I understand Justin, but how many of those kids "wisely" invest at that age even when financially guided. Another year or two playing college ball honeing an extra skill set or two while gaining confidence and letting his body mature would probably result in a bigger first contract with an even bigger one to follow. Dollars waved like a carrot on a stick are a huge temptation. But except for situations such as maybe the kid's parents suffering from financial hardship, etc., takeing the money isn't necessarily the right move. Now, gotta get back out and run my two year old grandson through some more lay-up drills!
  25. KU showed a lot of heart during their tourney run and I commend them for that. Self probably did his best coaching job of his career this year. Has Calipari bent the rules or cheated as some say through the years? Of course he has. But you guys know he's not alone in doing so across the college basketball landscape, or in the world of sports from the high school level up in actuality. He makes no apologies for the "one and done" players that commit to his programs. An athlete's required to attend school for at the very least one year before going pro. A player like Anthony Davis would more than likely have went straight to the NBA from high school if the rules were as they were for a time (Kobe, LeBron, Kevin Garnett, etc.). So why the heck not have an elite athlete play for you if only for a year. That year might just be a special one... as just evidenced. It's sad, but the good old days of the four year student-athlete, meaning "premier athlete", are long gone. And that's something that no coach or player had anything to do with. A "one and done" kid like Davis will be fine in the NBA. He's that good. A kid who's a sophomore or junior that leaves school believing he's NBA ready when he's not is a bigger problem. Think the Morris twins, Xavier Henry, and plenty of Mizzou players through the years. Plenty of coaches make the mistake of telling a kid he's ready. Most end up not meeting what's expected of them.
