  1. I say we move all operations such as this to Johnson County, Ks. (then we'll nuke it!) ...
  2. Very nice fish Mike! I love that lake. We've gotten into walleyes up there, but haven't caught one that big. We lost out on a cabin for next spring. Waited too long. Had a great cabin last May. Eight of us stayed. Have to do a day trip or stay in Maryville. Crappie fishing in spring can be spectacular. Glad you caught a beauty! KC
  3. Look, I enjoyed and still enjoy fishing TR. Always been tough for me coming from KC. Been fishing it for twenty years and will still continue even though the family has moved from the Knob to Cassville. Just to let you know, I've enjoyed fishing the flats on the White where we were located. Lots of Spots, big Green Perch for fish chowder, some nice smallies, flatheads, channels, a blue or two. That's about it. Crappies were found up the Kings from our place. Very few in Hardman Hollow, but we'd get'em from time to time. Just rarely. TR is gettin' busy without sayin'. Just sayin' the MDC should let smallmouth habitat remain. The lake's getting busier, older, and it'd deep and clear. Dale Hollow anyone?
  4. NOT!!! You can't speak for the department but you have spoke with the guys and you know for a FACT? C'mon Jeremy...
  5. Let me know if I'm wrong or right, but smallmouth prefer the open flats (at certain times of the year) because there's current... right? If so, I'd hate to see structures placed that displaces them also. They were THE fish before the dams. I'm thinking TR already is a world class largemouth fishery, for our part of the country anyway, and for anyone who knows the Rock and how to fish for them. If I'm not wrong, spots have thrived since the dam was put in. Plus, they were native in the first place too. Heck... that's what I catch mostly. IMHO... keep flowing water available for the smallmouth. Drop debris up the James or the Kings for more crappie (my prefernce) or more largemouth where I would think most of the tourney guys head. MDC should leave the White River and Longs Creek alone. Just BABBLIN' KC...
  6. The "black bass' species includes Largemouth, Spots i.e. Kentuckies, and Smallmouth. Love eatin' those walleye though...
  7. Yep... 'ol KC went down HARD saturday night. Wasn't pretty sunday morning as a result. I'll spare the details... most will get the picture! Glad the guys floated with me this weekend. Perfect weather! Mike and Andy... PM's to follow. KC
  8. Nope... they will most likely hybridize with your coveted browns Laker. Big furry gray hardshell creatures with teeth, spots, and fins. Of course, catch one that's tagged and you're in the money.
  9. Just figured out a way to introduce smallmouth to Taney and save on my water bill! I'll just piss in buckets, save it and haul it down there to God's Country, dump it below the dam every weekend, then convince Al to call the MDC after awhile and let 'em know that the temps are right for smallie re-introduction! Then maybe he'll have a place to be happy about again... my hearts-a-flutter for the big guy!
  10. Just wondering you eastern Missouri boys... What could have been done to prevent the spots from "invading" your waters? And whom do you fault for this travesty? Was it the MDC for lack of foresight? Do you believe they've done enough to start any eradication at all of spots? Such as liberal limits and such. And do you believe that's helping? Are you content with the funds MDC has spent to fix the Meremac or any other stream over there that have been "decimated" by spots? Trout were put here and ain't goin' nowhere... correct? Cash crop period. Times have changed and this is the way it is. Spots made there way to our eastern watersheds. But if not on there own, why wasn't anything done to keep them from here? And why is there not a more aggressive program in place to get rid of them? Outside of guys on forums having all the answers... By the way, I've caught lots of spots on TR that are at least 16" from time to time. But... were they there before the White was dammed? I have no idea... and I realize lake fish grow bigger than river fish.
  11. You guys absolutely suck... someone on this forum has been there. No report for this trip... you don't deserve it. Screw ya!
  12. Felt just horrible nobody posted on this. I love ya Al... you inspire me to read Zane Grey and practice my stick figure drawings. Someday... someday...
  13. Buzz... get it together. Under your "interests", you have the Cheifs but you ain't seen a game? What the hell have you been doing? Tendin' to the wife... fishing (hopefully)... you disappoi... oh hell, never mind! Hopefully I'll se ya on a smallmouth stream next spring cause I know where your thoughts are heading now. Have a beer for me if Tina will le... (crap, again... never mind).
  14. Just got on here Chief. I am whacked out tired bro! Wish I could be there tomorrow... call ya monday or tuesday.
  15. Uh... do priorities ring a bell? It's not like you're a bar hound. Missed fishing with ya this summer Buzz.
  16. Forgot to tell you all, there's a great McDonalds there... Of course... Diggins has a McDonalds too. Plenty of parking for the horse and buggies.
  17. Went fishing sunday on Shoal with Chief, Dylan, Mike (Wounded One), Ed (his dad), and Ian (Mike's son). The creek was a runnin'! Had a good time just trying to navigate it. Fishing was slow. Pounded the water with lots of stuff and not many takers. Great day on the water with lots of swim holes for all of us. Anyways... Chief took me on a wade fishing adventure on monday. We did a little bridge hopping and had an absolute blast! Lots of Neosho brownies in a very short time. We actually caught some in the 13 to 14 inch range. Clear blue skies... light wind... a beautiful creek with a good bud. Dylan had to go to school and we missed him big time! What a day!
  18. That place has changed names, as has Mountain Grove has grown through the years. The restaurant used to be called Sam's and the wife and I had to bug out and stay at the motel after a trip to the North Fork many moons ago. I floated the upper NF for years for smallmouth and Sam's was the place we always stopped to eat when we came down. Ah... the memories.
  19. Al... you don't like wind? Hmmmmm... how ironic. Keep doing your thing. People enjoy it.
  20. Haley says it's all about "feel" as far as what back to have in at a particular time. Whatever. Look, Jones ran for over 1400 yards last year. He's here to get the tough yards and take an butt-whooping because his body can take it. I think it's good he's here. Charles will bust 56 yard TD's like he did monday after Jones batters the defense a little. I hope their styles compliment each other this season. They seem to be happy they're playing together. You need more than one running back to count on in the NFL anymore. As far as Cassel goes... he needs confidence in not just himself, but his TEAM! I know what it's like to be a QB. He got pummeled last year and needs protection. He showed some grit finally monday down near the goal line when he ran it to the two. Still... the jury's out up here in KC.
  21. Isn't there a green cutthroat native to Colorado? Their state fish I'm thinking. Did ya catch one of those?
  22. Quit acting like a saint Buzz. You're more like a rat, not a mouse! I know you too well... now, when we going fishing?
  23. Where did you float Don?
  24. Al, I believe the Little Niangua to be the "truest" thing to an Ozark river closest to KC than the Big Niangua. Not by far albeit... Have you floated it? And also... the Pomme De Terre, Sac, and (whoops! Am I violating any principles here?) OK... named a few Ozark "fringe" streams. Maybe the Little Niangua is that also, but I don't believe that. There are plenty of streams in the western part of the state as most of you know that feed the big reservoirs. Do some research and maybe you'll find a brand new, unused, gem of a spot. KC
