  1. Buzz... my wife just said yours was bigger than mine... what the hell?
  2. Nice fish WW! Those ka-bobs made my stomach growl...
  3. Once again, a great time with you guys on sunday Chief. Yep, I can attest to the fact that was one hard take that fish made. I was as surprised as Chief was when I saw his rod being yanked from his hand! Like Chief was saying while we were floating, Flat Creek is a perfect name for this stream. There are plenty of stretches of skinny water that's unproductive. The holes when you get to 'em are surprisingly deep though. Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty creek for sure. Crystal clear, bathtub warm, and great for swimming. Dylan had a blast, as did we, watching him play in the water. Great pics of Buzz's perch and me casting Chief!
  4. That is so cool Laker. Thanks for sharing that story. I too am lucky to have a wife who allows me to fish anywhere, anytime. She's a great fisherman herself.
  5. Ah... Playa Del Carmen! Ain't the same now. Was there in '92. Took the ferry to Cozumel. It was our honeymoon. Snorkled and motorcycled the whole island. Senior' Frogs or Carlos and Charlies anyone?
  6. Type "National Park Service". Hit Missouri. Follow instructions and look a little and you'll see where you can make a difference!
  7. Turns... you posted a lot of rivers. This issue only concerns the Current and Jacks Fork rivers. They are the only rivers the NPS are covering with this issue. Ozark National Scenic Riverways is the issue. Please send your comments however you feel.
  8. Yep... John was a heck of a guy. I was shocked when Karen called me with the news. Made it down there for a weekend in late April, but the rains kept us off the river. Looking to go back this summer.
  9. Not an expert, but probably from Van Buren down. Actually... further down than than that is my guess. The locals will chime up on this, if they want to give up there spots!
  10. Still looking for somebody on this forum to remember a place called Cole's Hole on the Big Sugar. Late 60's and early 70's. Sure love my dad for starting me on the rivers!
  11. It's been awhile, but I launch my Tracker at English Landing in Parkville, motor up to the Weston area, cut the motor and "float" back down. Not exactly kayaking... but it's easier to eat the BBQ we pick up at Smokehouse.
  12. Fisher beat me too it while I was doing my homework.
  13. County Rd. 106-425. There's a brown sign for Bay Creek there at the turn-off also. If I remember right I believe the sign does say that it's 4 miles. Looks like the gravel road has a split left which you don't take, then a split right which you don't take either. Just lay straight ahead (as well as you can in those hills ). I'd bet there's a sign pointing the right direction anyhow. Have fun and save me a few fish... I'll be down Tuesday!
  14. Yep... most of my trout fishing has been outside of the park at Roaring River the last few years. 2# is all I have used, but I haven't hooked in to a monster. Biggest was a 17' brown. Like I've said before... take my four back home to the smoker!
  15. Berkley Vanish 6# test on the Jacks Fork works for me. That's one of the clearest streams, for it's size, in the state.
  16. Saw a black bear clambor out of a tree a couple of years ago while me and a buddy were hiking the trail down to Greer Spring. Neat experience!
  17. Congrats you guys! My wife and I have always wanted to fish up there. I will most definitly check your place out. Sounds like an awesome fishing experience. Just wish I could book RIGHT NOW!
  18. Woodman, do you know Karen Gruender who owns Cedar Camp on the Little Niangua?
  19. That reddish-orange meat is the sweetest tasting of any kind of trout in my opinion. Plus... I love the country I have to catch'em in!
  20. Way to go Amp! I know that was fun...
  21. You three look familiar... Nice pics you guys! Were you on Shoal? Just crossed it coming home from Cassville today.
  22. Hey Cricket... need to talk to ya about a hook-up. PM me and we'll see what's up!
  23. Hey Chief, Buzz, and Ollie... wish'ed I could help ya out! I'll be in Cassville this weekend helping my father-in-law out after his move. Hope to see ya'll soon!
  24. I just threw away half of my cinnamon roll...
  25. Buy decent line, plenty of pressure between your thumb and index finger while spooling. I bought a plastic 6-spool holder from Bass Pro which I've found out is great for travel purposes, but I'd rather take out my line of choice, lay it on the ground and spool it that way. To me, flipping the spool over if it's twisting is kinda a myth (but that's just me). I feel the real problem is overspooling a spinning reel, especially if you spool it loose. Just try to learn how not to taper it either from front to back or back to front. But hey... I'm a river and creek guy. You big lake boys know what to do (especially if trolling) with a spin outfit to prevent twist... End the end, I'd like to agree with Bman, but jeez... didn't know we had a resident Crocodile Hunter in state!
