Very nice post, and great photos. Crane Creek and the trout that dwell there are truly unlike any others. One of my most favorite places.

This time she may not be bending the truth. We just now got power back on. It has been out here since about 3am this morning. I live just off DD highway on a penisula across from Cow Creek. Last night was unbelieveable! Trees down everywhere. Our friends at the Lakeside Resort on Coney Dr. sustained some damage from a large oak tree that became uprooted and smashed a guest's rental car. The winds were ferocious. Several docks were "rearranged" and tons of debris floating along the banks. Where were the warnings? The only warnings offered prior to the power going out was for flash flooding. Last night was the worst storm I've ever personally experienced and I've been through a couple tornadoes. I hope all is well with other folks down this way.

I certainly do not want to put myself in the middle of any of this political argumentation. However, I want to say that I have not ever experienced as an intense of a feeling of excitement and national hope from a politician ever in my lifetime (not that I'm all that old mind you ) as I do now, with Sarah Palin. I truly have not ever seen anyone like this "lipsticked pitbull". She is all that and a bag of chips! Just wanted to exercise my 1st amendment right and say, IMHO, she is exactly who we, as United Americans, need living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. McCain/Palin 2008 See ya'll back here in 2012.

msubobcats~ Just so you know, my dad raises cattle over there by you. Last fall, right before hunting season, a couple of his cows turned up with large scratch and bite marks on their necks and hind quarters, and a calf came up missing. Also, my dad said that at that time the numerous deer and coyotes he had seen on his property earlier in the fall had just vanished. Within just a week or so of the attacks, he and his wife, both, at different times, saw the cat, but when they reported it to officials, they were told that " we don't have cougars here in Missouri, and that it was probably a pack of coyotes or wild dogs" that attacked the cows and got his calf. Maybe I'll suggest he gets a game cam set up this fall. Cougars sure can put the hurt on cattlemen and avid deer hunters. I hope that MDC are taking the reports and evidence more seriously these days.

My dad, who lives in your neck of the woods (Oronogo), is just getting back into tying flies. He hasn't messed with flies for more than 20 years, but he's been looking for a pattern for Bluegill. I'll pass your recipe along. Thanks for the post.
