  1. Simms makes a great product no doubt.......but I would opt for Korkers. After Sowbug I confirmed I wasn't the only person who loves these things. Literally feel like wearing a pair of tennis shoes. I have had them a few months and miles now. Definitely recommend them 100%.
  2. I thought I saw your boat at Rim Shoals. I guided Wildcat to Cotter Saturday for a few guys staying in a house up the river. Wind was pretty brutal, but fish were taking a caddis nymphg when the drift was right.
  3. Al, I agree with your train of thought. I wonder how many guys here are fishing out of a drift/river boat and how many mainly wade fish. Also I have very rarely saw anyone fish w/o an indicator on higher generation times(minus streamer fishing).
  4. I am hoping to be there with boat in tow.
  5. What are you currently using? I second the TFO Pro. Great all purpose action and a good company to support.
  6. Taneycomo and the White are two totally different types of water. There is a whole lot more fishable water on the White for people to spread out. And yes......Caddi on the White are well worth the drive.
  7. Got out on the lake today. Launched at Hickory Creek and motored over the the beginning of War Eagle. Fought a major East wind the whole time. Lots of striper fishing going on in the channels. We were targeting early season crappie. Water temp was about 49, so still a tad cold. Worked alot of structure, but struggle to get some good bites. The sun came out and wind died about 2pm and that helped alot. We had very good luck fishing large chunk rock banks and the mouths of coves. Blue body and white tail was a winner SLOWLY retrieved. Thought we were gonna get rained on a few times....but it seemed most of it stayed north of us. Water was still a bit colored. As usual, I worked the boat and camera.....so these are the fish a buddy caught.
  8. I had to double check....mine are the copper tinted.....just cant figure out exactly which lense. Fire or Copper. I have looked at the Orvis. I have a sour spot after my last pair of orvis shattered and there wasnt a company I could order replacement lenses from.
  9. I have the Half Jacket XLJ with the black irridium lenses. I have been looking at the 580's myself, but I sure like the Oakleys. Very good for site fishing and the interchangeable lenses are nice for when I jump on the lake.
  10. Good stuff fellers.
  11. Why a graphite bottom instead of fiberglass or kevlar? Also, what brand of varnish do you use? Very curious. Those are great looking boats. I revarned my drift boat winter before last, and am about due to repair a few spots that are wore along the chines.

We were out near WarEagle yesterday morning and there was a tourney fisher to be seen. I talked to Dave who has Mossback and he said he heard one angler up that way early in the morning......but nothing the rest of the day.
  13. Jeff, I have the version just previous to the Sonic Pros. Mine are the CPX. I have been thrilled with them. Very good quality, havent leaked or torn. I use them pretty hard and pretty often. I honestly think these give Simms a run for their money.
  14. I agree 100%. Buffalo is nice, but CC seems to hold the size.
  15. Very cool deal. If I wasn;t booked guiding that day, I would be all over it. I would like to see these become more popular.
  16. I recommend this one. Scott has done his research and is one of the most knowledgeable people fishing the Ozarks.
  17. Guide season is filling up. Lots of trips booked as well as lots of events.

  18. Brian and Kyle are both top notch guide for sure. You will be extremely pleased with either. I echo Brian's thoughts. An afternoon with a guide can do wonders for even the most experienced fisherman. I am very partial to the drift boats that Brian guides out of, but the longboats Kyle has are very unique. Best bet would be to use both and have one helluva great couple days. Enjoy the NFOW.......it is truly like nothing else in the area.
  19. My uncle has a cabin just around the bend from the Sailing Club. I spent many a night in those coves fishing.
  20. Jim we worked over some Kentuckies late last fall up the river arms with the fly rods. It was an absolute hoot. I am hoping to get into the whitebass/hybrid mix this year some more. We wade for them alot at Twin Bridges, but working the deeper water out of a boat will sure make the season last a little longer. I appreciate the info on how to hunt for the silver devils. I have only trolled for them mostly....and got lucky a time or two in the shallower water. BW, I setup my 6wt Clouser with a Rio Outbound sinking line for this year. Its a got a larger front taper back to a smaller "running line". It is killer for turning over those large flies. I used a Rio Outbound floating last year targeting LM in the shallows with poppers. Rio does a Clouser and a new Smallmouth line as well. Both made for easier casting of bulky flies.
  21. I haven't personally hit them at night. It's been on the list, but never made it out last night. I have read alot about guys following the shad just like spin fishing. If you can get them shallow enough, there are one or two old timers who swear by a big mouse pattern, stripped across the top of the water as fast as you can. I am helping a buddy on Beaver with guiding crappie, so I plan on sampling some crappie on the fly rod as well. Who needs stinkin' cold water????
  22. Bump. This will be this upcoming Monday evening.
  23. I have these in the XJ and love them. The lenses are interchangeable, so you can get these and order the polarized online.
  24. Full sinking lines and large articulated streamersm I have used a white/grey Zoo cougar and got one or two on the reel. We need to hook up this year and mess around on the lakes. I am getting my 6 and 8 weights setup with new reels and lines for lake fishing.
  25. The AGFC will be holding a meeting to discuss the Trout Management plan. The meeting will be held in the WalMart Auditorium, March 1 at 6:30 pm. It would be great to have a big show of support. http://www.agfc.com/Pages/newsDetails.aspx?show=180
