  1. Gentlemen, I wish I had good new for ya but my report stinks. I did not get on a pattern today. I put in at Gages about 11:30 and concentrated my efforts in Clevenger, Jakes and Big Cedar creeks; mainly Clevenger. I had the wind right and it looked good blowing into Clevenger. My original plan was to head back in the creeks about 1/2 way and to the shallow side and then look for the first main break (drop) off the the flats. I did this for the first hour or so working the larger pockets with flat sided cranks followed by a jig with no luck. I moved to the channel side where the wind was pounding the bank. I worked it hard with a craw colored wiggle wart paralelling the bank in about the 8-15' range. Nothing. I caught 1 largemouth on a spinnerbait in about 3' on a secondary creek point. I had a Kentucky off the end of wind blown dock right off the creek channel and my 3rd fish, a smallmouth came on a jig underneath the 86 bridge. There ya have it. I talked to a couple of chaps at the ramp who caught around 20 fish on a 4" green pumpkin hula grub, about 6 of those being keepers they said. Just curious here but from a couple of other recent reports on here it seems the action has all been above Kimberling around Joe Bald to Baxter, should one be focusing their efforts at that end of the lake? I know for the fall bite I've always known to look back in the creeks to find fish, somewhat similiar to the spring. For those with more "pro" experience what/where do we need to be focusing our efforts this month???
  2. Wow, You all had a great day! Congrads!
  3. Thanks. All spinnerbait fish??? A 3lbr makes for a better day!
  4. Gentlemen, I have surplus of the above "tried and true" colors that I would be willing to trade for any/all of the following colors. These are the original (pre-Rapala) warts. V-37 is Brown Craw, V-38 is Green Crawdad, V-74 is Firetiger, V-201 is Bleeding Shad and V-210 is Watermelon. In trade I am looking for the following: V-86 Phantom Green V-59 Phantom Brown SP-90 "Missouri Craw" I may also have "other" colors I may be willing to part with especially for the SP-90. Please PM if you are interested. Thanks..............Darren.

  7. Alright tippet, It is a pine/marabou streamer. I tried "searching" Pmj* but only found one thread describing it but no pic's or instructions. Help me out here. I've tied pine squirrel zonkers for a while but shame on me never knew of this pmj.
  8. I read this and laugh only because I can imagine what's going on in Oneshot's head. I remember Branson and Taneycomo well from 94-2005. I remember how much it changed in the late 90's. I remember the "flyfishing" boom in the mid-90's. The "A River Runs Through It" era I call it. I worked in the White River Fly Shop at that time, that was interesting. I was there the day Shoji Tobuchi came in and wanted to learn how to flyfish, he wanted a 5-wt. Ahhhhh..................memories!
  9. This is getting very interesting. And a PMS jig is???? For you guys trolling is there a special art to this? I.E. speed, bottom bouncers, rigs, how much line out, etc. Some specifics might help us that have never trolled before. Thanks.
  10. Forgive me if I am wrong but I believe this lure your speaking of now is a Super Duper.
  11. Troutchaser, I have seen Little Cleo's in the shops around the lake but never thought twice about them. Are you trolling these? I assume that your speaking of the Rapala countdown minnow.? I have a pile of these(used to be a sales rep for Rapala). Funny thing is I have never fished the countdown, duh!
  12. To everyone, Rarely do we ever hear of any other trout fishing methods on here outside of bait or fly. I think it would be real interesting to learn of different methods to catch trout on Taneycomo. If you fish lures by cast or troll please share your input. Let's open this thread up! I believe this could get real interesting!!!
  13. Here's a little help. AFTER you get to know roughly where to go it helps to keep your boat up on plane and engine trimmed well up. If your up on plane and trimmed out you have very little boat in water. My two cents worth here but when I approach Fall Creek I shut her down and hit the trolling motor if there is little generation. There is a huge shallow shoal just up from Fall Creek and can be a @#$%&* to get around if you don't know exactly where it is. Anyway there is usually good fishing right close by and plenty of boats fishing there most days so ease on by on the trolling motor aways and then you can get back on plane for a bit.
  14. Have at it and catch a monster! I'm actually slowly venturing into the big bait, big fish method myself.
  15. Nice catch on a crank........I love fishing crankbaits. And you caught him on a Wart, well done. Looks like a phantom green craw.........?
  16. dtrs, I can totally relate. I have too many hobbies. Tying flies and crappie jigs, pouring lead heads and powder painting, reloding and of course hunting and fishing anything that breathes. It's a little tough sometimes to keep up with it all. Anyway, lure painting is something I have been interested in for a long time as well as building bass jigs. I have toyed with bass jigs but nothing serious yet. How hard is it to get into painting or repainting your own baits? Can one get into this relatively cheap? I have lots of good fishing lures that I need to repaint. Large original wiggle wart collection with many duplicates that I would like to repaint. What does it take?
  17. Looking to get a hold of some old SP-90 "Missouri Craw" warts if anyone knows of or has any out there that they would like to sell. If so, please shoot me a PM. Thank you very much!
  18. dtrs, wow those are some great looking rogues.!
  19. Back in the day I never missed opening C&R on Roaring. Probably fished it 6 yrs in a row and alot of weekends during C&R season. My best was close to an 11 lbr on opening morning back in 2001. I caught it flyfishing on a red fox squirrel nymph. One day I will get back there again!
  20. Gentlemen, I am from Harrison, AR but have a cousin in Springfield and would like to fish with him on one or more of these 3 lakes. Can I use my 18' Ranger on any of these bodies of waters even if I only run in no-wake only. I don't plan on burning down the lake I have no problem using trolling motor only I just want access with my bass boat. Can someone let me know the regs and if this may be possible. Thank you very much!
  21. Rangerman, I have been researching walleye fishing for some time trying to hone my skills as this is new territoty for me. Thanks for this input. Could you help me a little more? What type of water for this set-up?, time of year?, water conditions, etc.? Thanks for any help. I want to learn how to catch walleye! Since you have them down on BS, what do I need to be prepared with for Feb/Mar walleye spawn on upper BS.
  22. Gentlemen, There is a color of Smithwick Roque out there I believe maybe called "Sour Grape". It is purple fading into darker back, goldish sides fading into a white belly. Uh, Can I say........DEADLY!!!! I have caught fish all over on this color. In clear to murky water. Some stained water and it is the Man!
  23. GO, ROCK!!!!
  24. If you all remember just a while back I broke both my Curado's on hook-sets jig fishing the Rock. The side plates both sheared off the side of the reel. Anyway, they went back in the mail to Shimano with a "polite" letter stating my dissapoint and the fact that I own about 8 total Shimano reels. Well, I got them back today. It took a little longer than I expected; about 15 days or so. However, there was no charge, they cleaned and serviced them and upgraded the sideplate/braking housing! How's that??? I have no complaints!, Now where's the fish on the Rock???
