  1. I just saw on the news that Beaver is going to be drawn down by 7 feet starting Tuesday - so it looks like high water for Taneycomo once again.
  2. Understood. And by the amount of responses.. plenty of folks are excited to show you the ropes!
  3. Leader material (tippet) is the same diameter all the way thru whereas Leaders themselves are started at near 100lb and tapered down to near 7lbs or 4X (for example). Tippet is added to the end of a leader to prolong its life. You do have to cut it yourself with the nippers to your desired length. I generally will add 2 feet of tippet to a 9ft leader making its total length 11ft. Once I will have used up the tippet - I 'll add more. I would be glad to see you on the water and give you a helpful hint on where to fish, but there is a ton info you can get from this webpage alone on the wheres and how.
  4. I was wondering the same thing.
  5. I found some for sale as well looking online.. but they are pricey!
  6. A hook chart I just looked up shows the Daiichi 1330 as a sub. Also the Mustad 94842. http://stevenojai.tripod.com/hookchart.htm
  7. john wrote - " I am now out my $150 and am a proud owner of a reel that does not work. " Under any circumstances, I would offer to help fix the reel if given the chance. I like fly reels and have been messing with them since 1993 or so. I've converted several from left to right hand (or vice versa) actually in shops that didnt know how. (ATH, Marryat, Billy Pate, Orvis). I've worked on Hardy reels dating back to 1903 and even Hatch reels that just made the scene. Perhaps I could fix it for you. FlySmallie - not sure I need to incorporate at this point. Looks like what I need is a lawyer. (that's a joke, it's meant to make people laugh / far from where this post has ended up) Brian
  8. jonboy, Do you mean GET some big ole' flies.. or... you should tie them up yourself. Musky don't care what they look like and they are going to be demolished after the one successful fish catch. Tie some up yourself and save a bunch of money. Use Mustad 34007 hooks by the way. You might want to sharpen them a little. Brian
  9. Being color blind.. I had to take pictures so I could get the catalog'd numbers right. Brian
  10. Darren - do the older ones have writing under the lip and the newer ones do not ? Brian
  11. I would love to see pics of the current breaks they put in. Anybody got a shot at low water ? Brian
  12. Post up some pics of the rod for us to drool over. I'm not sure I even know what Microguides look like. Brian
  13. Very cool. Good video. I've read some stuff about these little critters. You can catch a good hatch some years at Cane Island on the White below Bull. I had one swim right into my hand once.. he wouldnt hatch out.. but he was close. Brian
  14. Wow! Straight to the top in short order. Great work! Brian

  16. FUN! good knitty gritty fishing conversation again.... I have never caught a musky... but I am very willing to learn. Brian
  17. I've got numerous boxes of 5 and 6wt's. Brand new in box. It's Rio Grand. 100ft on the 6wt, 90ft on the 5's. $50 no tax no ship if local. That's the dealio. They smell really good, factory fresh, as in within weeks. Treat yourself. Your own little Christmas present should be for you - it should be new fly line. Brian

  21. The rods are quite good. A little on the stiffer side.. but very well appointed. The TR3 reel is a click pawl that takes a little getting used to. Still an A+ piece. Brian
