The corn filled the fish and they did not digest it properly or in the correct ammont of time and it stunted the growth. I believe he told me once they consumed the corn they really never recovered. " I do remember fishing off a dock by my old house with a guy who was throwing corm out by the can fulls. The water was just clear enough that you could see the little pieces of corn dissapear as the trout gobbled them up. It's a shame they eat corn up like its candy. I wonder if thier palate can ' taste ' the sweetness Do they puke it out if they realize they are not digesting it ? In order to eat something digestible ? Brian
  2. What a beast! Nice fish.. great job Scott! And such a pretty fish too! Phil - what were the measurements again ?
  3. Because I can. Film at 11.
  4. I can neither confirm nor deny that this is true. Well.... I can.. but.... I'm biting my tongue. Brian
  5. I agree with fishinwrench - you have the best tool at your disposal anytime, the internet. Brian
  6. I am under the impression it will be wadeable Monday all day... except 1 unit run sometime for fish water / oxygen water. I hope it doesnt rain and at the least - I hope the sun is out. Brian
  7. All I've ever noticed while wading are snails... mainly in the White at Rim Shoals. Hopefully we do not have a problem with mussels is Taneycomo. Brian
  8. I might have been walking between 1-2 while you passed by, or up at my truck restringing rods ... I saw Eric go by several times.. he did motion to me - a thumbs up or down on the fishing.. I motioned the in-between same old same old hand wave. Wonder if he did any good. Next time you go up on a late day run like that - give me shout. Brian
  9. Who are you fooling saying that's " not your best report " ??? That's the best report in weeks.. months even!! I noticed the same thing right below with the bugs.... I fished chute 2 from 2:30-5:30pm and tried out a few different rods.. which meant plenty of trips back to the car. I saw 5 sets of midges at one time.. against the falling sun - just big masses of them. Some lady from Louisiana went running to her minivan from her husband atop chute 2 thinking the midges were mosquitos. It was kind of funny. I told here, then showed her.. they were midges. Same family, not the same parts. ( no stinger ) Great news / river coverage Phil. I did not know anything of what you spoke of. Thanks for the quick heads up! Brian
  10. Can anyone make a valid point why Wainwright or Carpenter did not win Cy Young ? Lincecum won it last year... and yes, maybe he did pitch more innings... BUT COME ON......WHAT HAPPENED ??? Is the voting skewed to a bias I am not aware of ??? Maybe if Wainwright would have hit 20 wins.. he would have won it ?!?! If the bullpen hadnt imploded on his last start he would have won 20 and most likely the Cy Young. UGH! Brian
  11. Water is super dirty in the upper end. Not sure why.. perhaps a combination of many factors. Brian
  12. Holy turkey stuffing Batman --- low water !!!! I hope the crowds don't find out. I was the only one today fishing in outlet 2. Caught some trout too! Brian
  13. Absolutely anything by Leonard M. Wright Jr. ( the ways of trout is fantastic ) Also, Russert, Soucie, Henkin, Rosenbauer and Tapply and Pfeiffer. Brian
  14. I just want minimum flow. Say between 350-450cfs. That'd be killer for Taneycomo. Fishing would become amazing again. Brian lilley wrote - " Add an agent just for Taneycomo and you've got my Christmas wish list. " oh yeah.. and that too.. and the habitat improvements....
  15. " make from Fall Creek and above a C & R area only, barbless and single hook only, and don't stock that area at all " Just so you know - they do not stock the upper end as it is. Brian
  16. Sounds like you had a mighty fine trip. To not see many boats up in the upper end this time of year is strange... but with the water being so high.. it has put many people off. Shame you didnt get that brown to ' hook - up ' with you and that Rapala. That would have been a battle for sure. As far as seeing less browns that normal - I think its cyclical. These fish havent seemed to form a good spawning run for the last few years from what I see... and the hatchery is too new to be putting many fish in. They only stock 10,000 browns per year compared to 700,000 rainbows... so odds are... not in our favor. Overall.. sounds like you had fun. Good on ya! Cheers, Brian
  17. ok wrench... consider it squashed ! by the way, what do you see could be an improvement to the upper protected end of LT ? Brian
  18. I do not make it out to be much of anything -- given that it could be so much more. As far as opening it back up the regs pre97 -- I say no way, it would'nt make MDC money sense. There are some big plans with real habitat improvement coming down the pipeline. Just be patient .. young grasshoppers. Brian
  19. That's excellent! Finally - winter. Brian
  20. Old George can rest easy. His record will never be broken in my book. Brian
  21. I've actually had many people thank me for telling them, particularly down at the boat ramp. They just walk right past the sign oblivious to the rules. 7-10 people are cool about being educated that they are in violation of the rules. It's the 3 that want to fight that make me just turn around and walk away. Brian
  22. I didnt think your comments were worthy of my response wrench, sorry. Kinda figured you were talking ' out of your butt ' as they say. Brian
  23. XS means blah-blah. Don't buy into the gimmicks!! Do yourself a favor and call Phil's shop before you buy. His prices are better. -or - click the link to Lilleys Tackle Store at the top and left of the OAF bulletin. Brian
  24. I strongly suggest either S/A's Headstart or Rio's Mainstream. I say, go for the Headstart and buy it from Bass Pro. If you get a defective line (it happens sometimes) that the coating gets rubbery in a few months... take it back for a replacement. You'd have to fish it pretty hard to notice. Brian
  25. Thanks for the kind word guys. I told you all - I have a problem. Tim - actually.. I have some more to re-take pics of. Some pics came out terrible. Gavin - Nice rods and reels! Those Caps reels are hard to tweak for correct left or right. Its like trying to adjust the 1903-1911 Hardy reels with the big caliper drag and center pawl. One false move and you gotta re-tweak for an extra ten minutes. I have mine both tuned to RH pretty good.. the larger one has been out on the water and it is quite nice. The placement of the pillars on the frame make no sense. Instead of three, there are only 2. Odd. Mine were both taken in on trade. Don't spend over $65. Laker67 - I would love a Heddon 300. I had one.. and sold it. (should've never done that) As for the System One, I am working on the Daiwa SF706. Same reel with better styling. I have 2 spools already but no frame Someday I will win on eBay. But I keep getting outbid. PC - I could always use a new reel. You got one ? More pics to follow. Brian
