  2. Get some on camera - they sing when you sing to them! Handfuls at the boat ramp - Mothers Day 2019 - the water dropped out after months...
  3. What a difference 17 years makes. Everything is the same. My dog Duke died... oh and I quit the booze. Bought a few new rods and reels. Thanks for peekin in, Brian
  4. Let me sit with you next time Terrierman.... better yet - can you introduce to your friend ? Good stuff. I am still chuckling - a couple of dozen trucks... ha!
  5. Did I miss the post with all the Alaska pictures ? Seems I made a mistake... This post seems to be about anything but Alaska. Too bad.
  6. Anyone want to meet up there ? Way more fun when more join in. Daytime dry fly fishing is off the charts! Bring a friend! Bring some rods - cast different rods! Brian February 18th 2021 Bring midges - mudges and others...
  7. Not Allowed To Go Past Here
  8. I will dig up the photos I took of the access... I do remember you had to drive thru a field to get to the river. Dodging cows it he dark... it was a blast! Anyone else remember that access ? anyone else fish Norfork tailwater far below the dam ?
  9. Our old Missouri field reporter Mike Kruse was able to move on to TU greener pasture's... But back in the day - he gave a presentation and told us all - the leech is the perfect fly to fish in Taneycomo. His Mohair leech is famous in these parts - And for good reason You cannot tie it wrong. Wrap it up on a hook and go. I forgot - Also - smash down the barb.
  10. Jimmy T posted above me... Yeah - its been a while. If you need bulk beads - ask that guy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How's about an updated photo for this page ? What a killer pattern. Somehow I lose all mine before I get to the river.
  11. Good to see you Leonard - hope to see you on the river again soon my friend... Brrr... its been cold in this thread for a long time...
  12. Holy bananas - Glad to see Davy Wotton... we should all hope this guy comes back here...
  13. Going by there - anyone please take some pictures of what the creek looks like so others may see it. Thanks kindly... everyone wins.
  14. Many moons ago - Bob Clouser was at a show tying some flies when Tom Schmeucker walked up to him and said - Hey, what could you do with these ? and handed him some weights. The rest is history. Tom Schmeucker owns and operates Wapsi Fly Inc. out of Mountain Home Arkansas. Thank you Tom - for creating something heavy for us to use. Tom accepting his award for being a 30 year BRMC board member. I shake his hand every time I see him without fail. He invented the lead eye. Took zero credit.
  15. Book em Dano! Good to see you my friend. Sure hope all is well. Been some years. Many are unaware Sage made a line of click pawl fly reels. Hardy made them for Sage. They sound as good as they look. This DEMO reel had a been dropped - one side touched the frame and rubbed. No wonder it had never been fished. It sounded like sandpaper and marbles inside the reel. Opened it up - quick work with a Dremel tool and back in business. Ready to go on a rod right now.
  16. Knots are a pain in the butt... plenty of cheaters out there... here are some that do not work at all. Jus kidding - they all work. But nothing works like the new magnet style ones... they are the best, and I have none. Cinch Tie - it works but is crazy heavy This little gadget really works well enough and is light. But other styles made today are better. This was a gift - has all the knots a fisherman could need at your fingertips / around your neck. Below has a magnet tool to pick flies out of a box. Excellent. Also has a needle for splice knots. Dave Whitlock has a needle knot kit too... he autographed mine for me... I can't find it.. Drats. This works well if you dislike having a nail knot or loop/loop at your tip-top guide... nothing here so it slides right thru. I have never had one of these systems fail.
  17. Should we put together another class - I have 2 blanks that I want to get crackin' on immediately. Bring your own blank and everything else - or can we source blanks ? Anyone else interested ?
  18. Mine is the Pflueger Medalists. They made so many of them... Pick a favorite model... they all hold fly line really well. You can find a spare spool if you need one... and they don't break the bank. Many sizes and even era's to choose from. What reel do you know well - One that has past the time test for you ?
  19. This is an up date to the Terms of the Fly Caster from Gordon Hill CBOG ol Al Changes in Red - ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Would there be any way to show the changes in blue ? (i picked Bright Blue!) I'm terribly red/greed/brown color bind. Thanks kindly to ya Ol Al.
  20. Rules are rules... now let's figure out how to bend them to nearly breaking! Or - think about how your Grandma would read your post.
  21. What good looking bugs. A strong fondness for FishnDave's creations. Simple and to the point. Big and loud. Very nice. Especially for my color blind eyes. They all look great. I am sure you guys bring plenty of fish to hand with those. Makes me want to hit the vise with a new found fever.
  22. I think they were beavers... July 23rd 2020 - I was in my pontoon and this happened : Maybe they are mink.... https://photos.google.com/search/july 23/photo/AF1QipMS2iNv_8WV2-OInqvMGKFRIM6Zd_vyP8yJIzHJ
  23. Taneycomo River Cleanup with Matt and the MTFA was cancelled due to weather. Will update new date soon. Be sure to pick up any trash every time you are there. It is our river. No one else is going to do it.
  24. Sage fly rods have been around a long time now. Let's look at a few... talk about a bunch and have fun doing it. They made a lot of unique rods - but nothing quite like this. the late 1990's SPL - Center Axis The TCR or Technical Casting Rod was a challenge for all fly fishers to understand. The one below fishes just fine... not my favorite. Glad it's the 4wt and not anything heavier. LINK - http://www.flyanglersonline.com/prorevw/sagetcr.php They had a chat room page for the Fly Anglers On Line webpage... they let me host it. JC and Deanna were such just fun fly fishing folks. October of 1997 - Phil instead of me - http://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/eotg/10597eotg.php _____________________________________________________________________________________________ This rod was given to me by a customer, actually by his wife to me. He wanted me to have it. He never could get the hang of this one... much too fast for his taste. Thanks kindly my friend. RIP.
