  1. Thought they must have been crappie. Not to big here on killing spawning bass.
  2. Did he just ask the 64 Million Dollar Question? No swivel is needed, just allows another breaking point. Tie directly to the head. www.pigsticker.com Easy to prevent the wrap. thumb your bait before it hits the water and allow the rig to turn over just like a fly cast and it will not tangle or wrap. Give it a lobb, not a moon shot and at the end of the length before it starts to fall thumb the spool. The rig will turn over perfect and no problem Good Luck
  3. My good buddy Scott Pauley had 21 pounds with one well over 8 pounds to claim the prize. I believe second was pretty distant. Not for sure and can be corrected but I believe 16 something. Beck said it was brutal. Lots of spawned out LM. K's were not to be found and lots of Buck jaws getting ready to do the deal.
  4. Supplimental; Just really don't think it matters much what you do right now, this Lake is on Fire. Saturday the 14th. caught fish in the restricted zone on 1 unit using Full, Pink Micros, Scuds, San-Juan Worms, Suspending Stickbaits, Krockidile Spoons, Rooster Tail Spinners. Out of the zone caught fish on every color jig I had time to tie on and Gulp will have one usually within about 2 minutes of it hitting the water from Fall Creek to past Branson. This is just not going to last, unless they dump all the remaining fish in the hatchery in. Can't as the fish that are here are really feeding and you can bet lots of them are taking a Crisco Bath at the end of the day. Get on down here and get ya some.
  5. TFsh, one of the guests at our Lodge did very similar to ya in the same location. He is fishing the BASS open in a couple of weeks and him and his wife were here doing a little practicing. Fishing Too. He fished from Indian to Cow. He said a Football Jig 3/8th. in the short pockets. Said he had one location he just caught a ton of K's all really nice keeps. Thought he had 16 or 17 pounds. Winston what part of the lake did you catch thoae crappie if you don't mind us asking. Good Luck
  6. Had a guy tell me yesterday there are lots of them above the 86 bridge up roaring river. Lots of folks are catching them up there and also snagging suckers. I really believe you could troll for them in and around roaring river. Early and Late. May not tear them up, but believe you can catch a few scragglers and some that have returned to the lake
  7. Duck we tried to catch crappie yesterday in the Kings River. Pretty much stunk it up. Tried deeper pole timber in the guts and along the bluff banks. Used eitther a float and minnow approx. 12 ft. or a jig and float. No results. Spoke to at least 4 others that were having my same results. Also tried a jig and float and a straight line swimming minnow in the spawning pockets up close. Fished pockets with debris and also open small pockets also using some live minnows. Caught our only Crappie like this a male all colored up and a good one too. He had no gal friends. Lots of perch and small bass on the timber. After the trip I did catch 6 keeper LM on 3 different methods, but it hardly made me feel better.
  8. Have been on and off the Table Rock Lake Gar Pond the last week and for the life of me I have put nothing together. Have been trying to drag that little worm but am having minimal results. Topwater on the banks has been my best deal, not schoolers, but mostly buck LM on the banks. There is a tube bite in the dam area in the 14 to 24 ft. range on the extended points, for jaws, but not everywhere. Have also had some results swimming a grub on flat gravel. 20 fish and 5 keepers one day this week. Have caught some decent LM on a fluke, but nothing big. Had a couple today on a blade, and 3 keeps on a square bill. Some guys are catching them better on a wart. Chris Tetrick had a monster day. Spoke to a guy today at Sweetwater that said he had a very nice limit on the A-Rig. Thought he might have had 20 pounds, all LM. Up close. What a meandering post, mostly I don't know what I'm doing. Water has dropped and is still dropping and the surface temps have dropped about 8 degree. Cool nights and cloudless days have just about turned my gut. Man the trout are biting and they are big. I'm staying down there for a day or two. Good Luck
  9. It is really early and can't believe its over yet for this year, especially in the Shell Knob area. Had a bass trip this morning and then went crappie fishing for about 2 hrs. and did not catch a single one. Fished from Twin Rivers to Viola. Pretty much a bass lake now. Did see some White Bass chasing around Campbell Point, but did not bother with them. I will tell you this. Get on the water at 6:30 By 9 AM it is really tough no matter what you are going after unless you get some cloud cover and breeze. Middle of the day is rough. Get back out there at 6 Pm and go till dark and see how those time slots treat you. Best bet is up the Kings, on either a jig and float up close or a float and minnow as has already been mentioned. This season the crappie have not wanted anything moving at a very great speed. YOu can really control your presentation by using a float. ie slow it down. MIght also try moving off shore a bit to any standing timber you see up the Kings Might be a second wave out there or some post spawn fish. Probably main lake White River is a No Go. Use a jig or a minnow and float about 6 to 8 ft. deep and try that. If you see any laydowns that you cannot see the end of in the water as it deepens up, give them a try. Just got a feeling it is going to be pretty tough from here on out but still could catch a few. Good Luck
  10. Bry, have you found a red hook that was worth a durn? I have yet to find one that the point didn't turn, the color either chip or fade off and the hook to be as weak as a kitten. I have tried everything from Eagle Claw to Gamagatsu, to VMC to Bass Pro, and Mustad. They are all pretty much the same. For crappie probably does not matter, but I like my Bass Hooks to be good. Just wondering.
  11. If you have to stick there, that is about as good as any. Try Brushy just outside of LOng Creek, and if you are abit adventuresome, there are alot of times Clevenger Branch will hold Whites this time of year. Go clear past Big Bear Resort in that large pocket and troll either shad wraps or shallow diving cranks, to find them. Beardsley Branch can also be pretty good along the banks if the crappie are spawning. Probably gettng pretty close to the end of this deal. Longcreek report on Home page by Phil Lilley.
  12. 3 or 4 ft. of visibility is dirty water. Better get your flipper on fast if your gonna. THis lake is headed for white rock and gravel just about as fast as the Corp can get it there. It has slowed down a mite with only 3 generators, but they are going to take her down. Good Luck
  13. Long Creek is not that big, and those fish can vanish faster than a hundred dollar bill at the Candelstick. You get a load of guys in there and it changes everythng, and as Brent Long said the water is clearing really fast and that more than anything was the deal to fish stained water, as the fish tried to move up. He also said he was fishing in front of the bushes and deeper, on steeper banks, not the traditional spawning pockets cause the water was just dropping to fast. On the steeper stuff, he thought it gave the fish a very good chance to move up and down more comfortablly. Took me 2 seconds on video to see where he was yesterday, and know the exact location. I never fish there. Just goes to show. Course with me, that is a knarelly, hangup nightmare and for guiding, that can be a problem. If you are a professional fisherman, not so much. How ever you cut it, they did real good.
  14. I will be the first to say i just blew this deal.. Had no idea these guys would keep on keepin on. How many 20 pounds bags on the last day? two or 3 I think. I guess Long Creek was the deal, in the murkey water. Just a whisker under a 20 pound a day average for 4 days. And it was not just one dude. It was 3. I'm keepin my guesses to myself from now on. They will tear up Beaver in a month on Post Spawn fish on the A-Rig. Bet it will be the biggest weight derby wise in the history of the pond. Be interesting. Good Luck
  15. I don't care how warm it is, the spawn on Table Rock is not over April 1st. I have caught them on beds the last week of May in extremely warm water. Mother Nature does not put all her eggs in one basket.
  16. I'm not Robbie Dotson, Bill Beck or Buster Loving, but I have won lots of the Green Spendy Stuff on this Lake and most of that money has come from Five miles either side of the KC Bridge.S That area has everything, Extremely deep water huge feeding flats, massive spawning creeks filled with timber and loads of goodies for fish types to eat. State Park and the Dam area is just like it. These Gal's will be ok. I'll also bet a big part of the bags are the boys getting stuff ready for the suprise party before the gals get to the event. This little ole derby the last week of March, is just a party mixer.
  17. Jeremy nailed it right on the head. Bill Anderson, one of the best scientest we have ever had on this lake, "Now Retired." Told me on numerious times that removing bed fish during tournaments had zero population effect. The percentage of spawning fish that is removed or relocated is extrememly minimal. Also if that fish is not injured and is a female the spawning reflex is so strong, and as he said, "Water is water." She will just find a male on a nest and do it there, what ever part of the lake she is on. As he told me many a time, "Table Rock Bass don't have a home, they live in the Lake." Just giving her a boat ride will not eliminate her ability to spawn that current season. Also for the most part the female if she has spawned has very little to do with the nest. That is the males job. Remove them both however, and you pretty much have a buffet for the blue gills. There are only 20 boats on the water today and the Rock will swallow them like a rain drop. This spawn deal is just getting going, they are not touching it. Also as Jeremy said more spawning in deeper water than shallow. Take a breath, They are not hurting anything, This lake can handle it. Enjoy the weather and the fun
  18. Thanks Quill for posting this stuff. Yes champ I'm with ya. Noticed Stacy fishing some pretty off color water. Bet he is up at Buzzard and in that area. Would just about bet, we have seen the end of the 20 pound plus bags. Also just a thought, but I believe the 8 pounder deal is over. Stacy got one yesterday, but it was 8 pounds even. Not as big as the CPA fish. Think about this, All those big fish weighed in the the CPA two weeks are are still swimmin, cause nobody has even touched that kind of fishin, for those monster sows. 95% of those big gals were suspended stagging fish, that were not remotely near the bank. Would not be suprised to see it under or right at 18 pounds today and maybe 16 or 17, for both days. Just got to think that Stacy will catch 5 both days this weekend and that I believe will do it. The Kid has done fantastic, I mean really good, but it is gona be tough to catch 10 more solid fish. Get rid of Stacy's 8 yesterday and slip a 3 pounder in there and he would have had 17. Probably what it will be You flop another 34 pounds on 42 and you got 76 pounds. That is a 19 pound per day average. UnReal.
  19. I was pretty close. Thought there might be 5 or 6 bags, of 19.5 to 23 and there were a few more. Might be close to the same tomorrow, but then I believe it will drop a bit just from fish being picked off. Be real suprised if the same guys had them again. Stacy will have them and I believe Robbie will have a better day.
  20. The 23 to 30 deal is where Buster has been catching them. Man they can move in a hurry. Thanks Again and super pic's.
  21. Way more realistic. It is easy to get misquoted or make a mistake. I do it everyday. I'm guessing 5 or 6 bags close to 20 lbs. 22.14 for leader. It's fun to guess.
  22. Don't forget Stacy King is fishing also. He won the PAA event here last year and if those brown fish are starting to get shallow, he will have a poke of them for sure. Be really suprised if Long makes the cut. Stacy and Robbie, be suprised if they didn't
  23. REally, I think the weather is going to be almost the sole factor in the weights. Also this lake is just dropping like a rock. No pun intended. Read one quote and this guy thought a bag on Sunday would be the biggest weighed in due to bedding fish. I just cannot believe there are that many big gals locked on that tight yet. I'm no bed fisherman and I can kind of stink it up this time of the year. Especially if there is any kind of a water event and then you have high prussure on top of it. Projected winning weight now is 77 pounds for 4 days. When Ehiler won 2 years ago, I belive he had high 60 pounds in 4 days and won by double digets. I would be suprised if it was more than what it took for him then. Under 70 pounds. 70 is a whopping 17.5 a day for 4 days. That is a load as far as I'm concerned. That kind of puts it at 35 pounds to fish the weekend. I usually guess lite as I try to predict what I could catch and then double it. I don't think we will see 9 over 8 weighed in the entire derby, but I could be wrong. That is how many CPA had 2 weeks ago on one day. None of the pro's are reporting catching any good fish what so ever. Only keeps and 2.5 pounders. Most are now saying its tougher than they thought it would be. We will get a feel after tomorrow. I want to see not the top bag, but the 10th. to 20th. place bags. How many bags at or above 20 pounds do we see on day one?
  24. Great report and I agree with Phil. If they are up there to spawn and in two feet of water, they are in big trouble as the lake is dropping at a rate of 4 to 6 inches per day. Our guide that is catching them is still on a deeper pattern, fishing shallow, but in deeper water up to 30'. On the lake level issue I may be wrong, but I believe they will just keep it creeping down after they hit the 915 mark. I think there even with the policy they like to hold, there is somewhat a fear that has been put in them after the past two high water events. I believe April is our high water month.
  25. Thanks for keeping us all informed. I believe the new site is going great and the participation has been nice. Even as a guide being out most days seeing the teniques other are employing always gives me a working idea of the goings on before I get to the lake. Also posting the MDC reports was very interesting. Pretty much what we thought on the Browns. I was interested to read they thought that quite a few were rolling over Powersite dam. In your opinion does this mean they send quite a bit of time in open water near the top of the water column. I have always believed they were more of an ambush type of fish, seeking more of a structure type of enviornment. I also had in theory from past experence that during adverse conditions that the Brown Trout were more active in warmer water. From reading the report, MDC felt the high warm water had a very negitive effect. Which I believe has proven out with the lack of numbers we have caught since 08. It seems however from the past that if the water was warm, we stopped catching rainbows and caught more brown trout and sucker fish. Again, Just Super Informantion. Thanks Bill
