  1. Not much for me today, got 3 nice K's off my favorite point early on the Ol Monster, picked up a lone top water fish and then things got tough. Fished almost until noon and caught just 4 more bass and none of them looked to be over 12". Could not get them to bite the OI Monster that they loved so much last Thursday. Nothing on the drop shot, couple of bites on a jig, the only thing that "worked" for me was a Zoom Trick worm. Had a guy pull up to me and he said he got over 20 on a bank on the watermelon worm, he pointed out the bank to me, but I did not fish it, figuring if he caught that many there, he'd probably sore lipped them all. Water temp 79-80. Lots of ski boats. Quite a few bass fishers out there also. Bluegill are biting, they liked the Ol Monster. I think I'm done with the Rock until after this holiday weekend.
  2. I use Seaguar Invisx 6 lb. test, size 1 Gammie Drop shot hook, and a Zoom Finesse worm, I like Old Purple or Plum. Tie the hook on, point up, using a Palomar knot, leave about a 2 foot tag end to attach your weight. That being said, you'll probably get another 10 or so suggestions on different ways to set up, but that's what works for me. I have not done crawlers, but if you do, you'll probably be pretty busy with fish, all kinds of fish. I don't know what hook size to suggest with crawlers, or whether to use a whole one or pieces.
  3. I've had a couple of minor inconveniences lately waiting on water fleas to launch or untie from the dock. Latest one was a family of four parked in the middle of the ramp (it's a 2 lane ramp, but they still parked in the middle), while I was waiting they started applying sunscreen to each other. That was a first. Can't wait for the cold weather.
  4. Sorry to hear about your friends loss. It's sad, but these days you can't leave anything unattended.
  5. Down to 1122 and they are still running water.
  6. I found a bunch of "private" brush piles this winter when the water was low and clear. Marked them on the GPS. I have more spots to fish in a day than I have time to fish.
  7. Well I was hoping you'd ship some, too far for me to drive to SE MO. When I lived in WA state, used to go east over the mountains in the spring to trout fish. When the fruit trees are blooming there's not enough bees to pollinate them, so there's folks that are in the business of bringing bee hives over and temporarily setting the hives in the orchards.
  8. Lots of tennis shoes.
  9. That's some great fishing, thanks for the report!
  10. Cool mornings this week may keep the crazies off the water until later. (Hopefully).
  11. Thanks for the report, looks like water temps have dropped a bit and we have a couple of more cool days coming.
  12. You going to ship your honey to buyers, or will it be local pick up only?
  13. Ahhh, in other words, NITWITS, I'd rather deal with vampires.
  14. Vampires?
  15. I'm beginning to appreciate winter fishing on the Rock.
  16. I cross the River by the camp ground when I go over to Table Rock, never see many fishermen in that area, so I'm assuming the trout fishing is further upstream?
  17. Saw these on the BPS web site. Put a sinker on it and you have a sliding Jika rig. http://www.basspro.com/Team-Catfish-Sinker-Slides/product/1208170217/#
  18. My grandparents on my mother's side were from Kennett MO, not far from Paragould. Church twice on Sundays and on Wednesday night. No alcohol, cussin' or card playing. My granddad fished occasionally with a black man, he referred to him as "Nxxxx Joe". Attitudes were sure different back in those days. But at least in that regard, we've changed for the better. BTW, Kennett is Cheryl Crowe's hometown.
  19. Those are some quality bass, congrats!
  20. How big was Doc's PB? Were you guys fishing after dark? Sorry to hear the big 'eyes got away, did you get them close enough to see them?
  21. Deen had a new cookbook coming out, one with healthier recipes. Supposed to be published this fall, it is the #1 seller on Amazon (pre-order). Well the publisher, Ballantine Books, has announced they will not publish the book. Ballantine Books is now on my jackass list. Now we've reached a point where, figuratively speaking, we're burning books?
  22. Saw this on TW, nice little video on fishing a deep crank. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/vlogpage.html?ccode=VLOG242
  23. Based on the results so far, I'm expecting good fishing next week.
  24. Nice bunch of 'eyes!
