  1. Fished the White river this morning, going up river from the Big M marina, the water gets progressively more brown, go down river a couple of miles you start getting into some green water with decent visibility. Caught most of my fish in the green water, but did get a few in the brown water late in the morning and early afternoon. Almost all on a tube, I think I did get one c-rigging a craw. 13 black bass total, 4 of those were smallies. 4 maybe 5 keepers. Water temp was 56 to start and saw 60 in the back of a cove before I left. Saw quite a few beds in the backs of coves when I looked around in the shallows, but only saw a couple of males sitting on beds, most of the beds were empty. Looks like another cold front coming through so it may back them off again, but once it warms up after the front, we should see some spawning fish.
  2. That's a big ol' flathead to hook on a spinnerbait. Thanks for the report.

  4. Scanlon now in the lead, he's shown at the weigh in holding a couple of smallies. Still looks to be wide open, any of the 12 final round qualifiers could win this with a big bag. http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/2013-elite-series-bull-shoals-quest/leaderboard
  5. Thanks for the report.
  6. Thanks for the report, buddy of mine was up the White yesterday, they caught around 20 dragging plastics, he said the water up there is brown but you can still catch fish.
  7. That's a Dry Creek tube in "Columbia Craw". Great tubes IMO. That Wart may work, but the fish I caught were mostly deep, 10 - 20 feet.
  8. Re-reading one myself. "Pea Ridge - Civil was campaign in the West" William L. Shea. Very readable account of the battle.
  9. Forgot to attach the link, here it is: http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/2013-elite-series-bull-shoals-quest/leaderboard
  10. Wow, really a tight grouping in the top 10 or so, no one is running away with this one! Vinson is still in the lead by a couple of ounces. Classic winner Cliff Pace is lurking in 3rd. Ish Monroe made a big move. Bags really weren't that impressive, the bigger fish must be tight lipped.
  11. Launched out of Lost Bridge North and fished the Indian creek area and Honey cove (I think that's what it is called), over by the dam. About halfway back into Indian creek the water is brown so I didn't fish back there. The water in the launch area and the nearby coves is pea green with about 3 feet of visibility and it's a bit better over in Honey cove. Ended up with a 16" fat spot, and 4 smallies, one of which was keeper sized. Got them dragging a tube. Water temps were 55-56. Ramp is in good shape, dock is accessible.
  12. Lots of folks still in the hunt, leader is at 16 lbs and change. Last year's winner, Brandon Palaniuk is in trouble, 90th place. http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/2013-elite-series-bull-shoals-quest/leaderboard
  13. Good luck and please let us know how you do. I fished Sardis last summer and that lake is full of crappie, I imagine Arkabutla is similar.
  14. Nothin better than nail cured eel!

    Big Rain!

Just took a little drive around Bella Vista, Little Sugar is an angry brown color and out of it's banks flooding the low lying areas of the golf courses. Not as bad as the flood several years ago, but still a lot of water out there. Lake Windsor looks to be up about a foot and the water is surging over the spillway.
  16. I don't know that they've announced a broadcast time yet, but in the past, they've done a show on ESPN2, usually early on a Sunday, 7 Am or so Central time. And It will be a week or two after the tournament.

    Big Rain!

Just looked at the Beaver lake level gauge, red line is shooting straight up.
  18. Don't hold me to this, but I've seen the whites really turn on in the backs of coves in the Indian creek area after a big rain like we've just had. It's hit or miss, but if they're there you can have some good fishing without the crowds.
  19. "Egyptian gnat larvae" - You gotta be kidding!

    Big Rain!

And it's going to get followed up by a possible freeze tonight. I still haven't planted any tomatoes, grrrrr.
  21. Well I must admit that I did not go, turned out the NCAA championship was that night also, so sometimes you have to make hard choices and I opted to watch the game. There's supposed to be one more meeting for the "public", if they send me an email about that, I'll post it here.
  22. Thanks for the report, that wind must have been whipping yesterday afternoon.
  23. I thought it was a pretty darn good show myself. What surprised me was that gal in Maine running that baby eel gathering operation and getting $2500/ lb. for those things. And that guy building that weir in the Delaware river, there was a lot of rock in that thing! I've had unagi (eel) sushi style in Japanese restaurants, it's one of my favorites. And for those of you squeamish about raw fish, when you order unagi, it's cooked.
  24. Used to accidentally catch them in Massachusetts when fishing for other fish when I was a kid, "slippery as an eel" is a true statement.
  25. Yep I agree it's getting better, but is it better than Table Rock, or Grand, or Bull? Will it ever be better than the other big reservoirs in the area (for black bass)? I'd like it to be.
