  1. Funny how it works out with other rigs sometimes - I was the only one parked at Big M when I left at noon, when I was there Wednesday there were half a dozen rigs in the lot.
  2. I'll have to look that one up, but I am afraid of what I might find.
  3. Never knew there were browns there either. Some great fish, thanks for posting!
  4. Welcome Stanley! I always think of making a steelhead trip to fish one of the runs up in the Great Lakes. Used to fish for them in the Northwest and I sure do miss it.
  5. A good jerk bait read: http://dobynsrods.com/tips-tricks-jerkbaits/
  6. I believe Loomis and St Croix manufacture their own blanks.
  7. It was on pretty solid, if anything I think the hooks may have pulled out. It was just not meant to be. Hey, hope those DR's figure out what is up and get you fixed up soon so we can see you out on the water again!
  8. Well I thought I had located some fish last time and was anticipating catching some good numbers. It didn't happen - 3 bass total, 2 on a Ned and one on the McStick. I did have a good opportunity - I was throwing a DT 10, it was breezy and I decide to try cranking for a while, and on about cast #4, as I was retrieving it, it just stopped dead, thought I was hung on a rock. Well the rock gave a couple of good head shakes, pulled some drag, then was off. Dunno how something that was hooked that solid could get off, but it did. I threw that dang DT about another hundred casts off and on during the morning and never got another fish to touch it. It was getting pretty windy, so I called it quits at noon. Had a covey of quail fly across the road about 1/2 mile out of the Big M park - first ones I have ever seen in that area. WT45, water stained green.

  10. Yep, my bad.
  11. Launched at about 0730 and pulled out at 2:30 PM. Water is stained green, temp was around 45 degrees. Very little wind for most of the day. Fish were scattered, most of my bites came from rocky points and a long underwater ledge that runs off the end of a bluff. I caught one little spot 50 feet down on an ice jig and another one on top that hit the Zig Jig. Most fish however, came in 10-20 FOW. Caught a dozen, mostly spots with one smallie and a couple of largemouth. Ned rig was my best bait, but caught a couple on the Zig Jig and another on the McStick. Quite a bit of surface activity, bass were up chasing shad - problem was they weren't schooling and were scattered so never could get on a bunch of them. Might have been a good day to slow roll a Redfin, didn't have any in the boat unfortunately.
  12. I'm an early morning type, which isn't the greatest this time of year as it is often the coldest and foggiest part of the day. If I was closer to TR I'd probably do more evening and night fishing there.
  13. Thanks Bill - The camera deserves the credit, it's a Nikkon 5300D and I'm using an autofocus lense. It is something you really need three hands for when you're holding a fish in one hand and the camera in the other, but that autofocus makes it easy to one hand the camera and get a quick shot. I have not located those brush piles, I think I might know where they are based on seeing where some other folks have fished that point. That smallie came from just inside the cove where the first tree sticks out of the water, it was right by the base of that tree, which I think is about 15 feet deep right now. First good smallie I have caught in a while. I did throw a McStick for about 5 casts off that point but nothing touched it.
  14. Hard to force the Elaztech over a bait holder also. It can be done, but so much easier on a bare hook.

  16. Cool, never seems like there are enough tables. I'll bring a charcoal grill, charcoal dogs and buns.
  17. Latest forecast calling for a HIGH temp of around 10 degrees. This could be epic.

  19. Lot of browns for sure, congrats!
  20. I'll bring the crackers.
  21. What is the "Mega Down Imaging" that comes with the Ultrex? Is it a built in transducer? They appear to have a wireless link - can you install an app on a smart phone and use that to direct the motor?
  22. That's interesting, I have the older STX's and they are very hard to tell apart from a 110. Haven't seen the new ones.
  23. M&M has the permits $10 voluntary donation, proceeds to go to CAM (Christian Action Ministries) Here are the rules, such as they are. Feel free to bring food. We had a pretty good spread last year. March 23, 2018, Eagle Rock COE Ramp, 0630 start time, Tournaments ends at 1430. Must be a registered OA member to participate. Big bass format, largest weight wins. Any black bass (Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted Bass, Meanmouth) are eligible, but only one bass will qualify as the biggest. Trophy will be awarded to the winner (and just think of the bragging rights you will have on the forum). Immense prestige will accrue to the winner of this tournament. You can fish multiple people out of a boat, but the trophy will go to the individual that weighs in the biggest bass. You can trailer to another Table Rock launch if you prefer. Typical bass tourney rules apply - No bait, no trolling, and no A-rig or multi-arm lures. No promises on what will be there as far as food, but last year things came together and we had a pretty good spread. I recommend you bring your own drinks. Always a chance that weather could be bad in March, if it is looking bad enough to make travel treacherous then we will have to reschedule. We'll notify everyone a day or two in advance it if look like bad weather. Past winners 2015 - Kbilb 2016 - Little Jasper 2017 - Carl W 2018 - Kbilb 2019 - Your moniker here?
