  1. I can't tell you a lot positive based on my last trip, we did get a few on the Whopper, including a 3 1/4 smallie so it might be worth throwing around early. If there's some breeze on the banks, a med depth crank like a Wart or 3 DX might get a couple. Ned rig will also get an occasional bite. A few of the coves have fish, look for coves with shad. Next time I go, I'm going to spend some time poking around in deeper water, 20-30 feet, either using a drop shot, spoon or dragging a football jig. Good luck!
  2. You mean the store in Kearney? I think that's the name of the town. There you are cruising down the interstate in the middle of nowhere Nebraska, and out in the middle of the plains that Cabelas store appears with it's walkway bridge across the interstate. Pretty neat.
  3. Except that those Ploppers are never in stock. Best delivery system in the world is useless if you don't have inventory.
  4. There are some studies out there regarding Crayfish predation on Zebras. Just do a search on "Zebra mussel crayfish predation". Crayfish will eat Zebra mussels, but hard to know if it will lead to a population increase of crayfish. Here's a couple of excerpts: "Crayfish typically attacked a zebra mussel by using the first and second pairs of walking legs to orient the sharp edge of the shell so that it could be chewed with the mandibles. Smaller zebra mussels (≤5 mm) were commonly ingested whole, but larger shells were cracked open. " "In general, our field experiment suggests that lakes and streams containing O. rusticus populations may experience slower colonization and lower overall densities of zebra mussels than systems lacking crayfish. Consumption of zebra mussels by O. propinquus and O. virilis in our laboratory experiments suggests that natural populations of those species would also reduce natural zebra mussel populations. If smaller crayfish had been used in the field experiment, they would most likely not have consumed the larger mussels. However, smaller crayfish may be capable of exploiting intercobble spaces inaccessible to adult crayfish. Densities of juvenile crayfish are often higher than those of adults (Lodge and Hill 1994), and this higher density may result in an even larger impact on small zebra mussels than revealed by our field experiment. Certainly, while crayfish may act to reduce populations of zebra mussels and while the presence of large populations of zebra mussels may provide a novel food resource for crayfish, it is unlikely that crayfish can reduce zebra mussel populations below densities that are ecologically im- portant."
  5. Imagine if this had been the starting QB at Bama or OSU, it would've been all over the national media for days. But, I wouldn't have heard about this if it wasn't here on OA.
  6. I bet backing the trailer down the ramp is a challenge with that setup.
  7. Back in the day when I worked in the software industry, we used to call stuff like that an "Undocumented Feature".
  8. It went well, in my opinion. We'll do another in a couple of weeks.
  9. Yeah it's kind of weird for that area of the lake, I can't explain it, but the few fish we caught were mostly nice smallies.
  10. I haven't trolled for crappie on the Beav in several years, but when I did, I used Bandit 300's. If it was early in the AM, I might fish a 200 for a while, but the 300's are hard to beat. I also liked to use a Shad Rap tail dancer. I have gone over to Sardis lake in Mississippi a few times to fish we my uncle and we troll 300's there (so do a lot of people). We always get a good sack of crappie, those lakes over there really kick out the crappie.
  11. Fished with board member Huntest today and we had to work hard to get just a few fish. We caught 10 or so between us with 5 - 6 keepers. 4 or 5 of the keepers were smallmouth, biggest was a 3.25 that ate a Whopper Plopper. Had one keeper spot. Caught a few on the Plopper, some Ned fish and a few on 3XD and Wiggle Wart cranks. Could not find the spots or the largemouth. The smallmouth we caught were scattered, points, shallows up by buck brush, and chunk rock banks. Water temp is around 66.
  12. Looks like folks enjoyed the chat session, I say we do it again, Tuesday November 17 at 7PM.
  13. We'll have to do it again, I was thinking maybe once every two weeks.
  14. This site is always worth a look. Shipping is high so factor that in. But even with that, their prices are usually less than I can find around this area. http://www.domo-online.com/
  15. Very nice!
  16. Yep that Canada Craw is a good one, and Dirt is another that will work well. But, it's hard to put down PB&J.
  17. OK, time to get a head count so we can notify the Rileys. Looks like we will have people staying Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. I plan on coming in Thursday evening, staying through Saturday and probably leaving Saturday evening. Who is bringing boats? I don't have a river boat and would love to be able to get in a boat Friday and Saturday.
  18. That's a good day Fishrman, the keepers aren't coming easy, and to boat 4 nice ones is pretty darn good.
  19. Thanks for the report. It helps if you can get out a couple of days in a row like you are doing, the 2nd day you can get back on the fish you've located.
  20. I was down lake for the most part. Very few boats out yesterday, I only saw two other bass boats, a couple of pontoons, and a couple of pleasure boats.
  21. Phil - Hate to add to the complaints, but the Gallery feature seems to have been broken, when I try and upload a photo to my gallery, it asks me to create a new album (I already have one), then it fails when trying to upload the photo.
  22. I was hiding from you Bo. Are the daytime fish hitting the spin jig?
  23. Launched at 0715, fished until 2 PM. Got a few on the Plopper early, one was a keeper LM. Caught a few more on a Deep Little N, and the rest on the Ned rig. Caught 20 total with 3 keepers. Fish were mainly on chunk rock banks, from 5 feet out to 20 feet. Did see some fish at 50 feet when I was crossing a cove mouth, dropped a spoon on them and caught a short largemouth, but could not get the others to bite. Water cooled off a bit, surface temp 67.
  24. Look up top at the tool bar on the forums main page - you'll see a tab labeled "Chat". Click on it and you'll see a button that says something like "Accept and Enter", click that and you should be in the chat session.
