I'm against it on principle, it's a public lake and the marinas have put their docks on public water. And if it's no fishing, it should be no fishing period on the docks, including the dock owner and friends.

I wonder too, if someone from the board catches one in a few months maybe they could take a pic and post it here.

I noticed that the LM I caught on Beaver Saturday on Beaver were skinny also, which is funny consdiring there were lots of shad around. Maybe they burn lots of calories chasing shad.

I second the Road Runners, spots love them in the spring, white bass too. I think I have caught just about everything that swims on them except for carp. They are a great lure if you like to fish light tackle. Only drawback is they get hung up easy, but then again they aren't expensive.

That is an awesome mount, heck of a fish too, 35 lbs. is nothing to sneeze at.

I was out yesterday, fished the Piney creek area, a little bit in War Eagle, caught some black bass - nothing real big - and a few nice whites on the Bass Pro version of a Rattle Trap. Best fishing seems to be in the back of coves where the shad are concentrated. Talked to another guy at the Hickory creek ramp and he said he had done well on bass shallow - didn't get any more detail than that, but the fish are biting and you picked a good 4 days to fish.

My granddad used to live in Kennett, back in the 60's he used to fish Reelfoot quite a bit, there's was always lots of crappie, but they were small on average. I hear nowadays it's still pretty good and the crappie are a little bigger on average. My uncle lives in Memphis and still fished it every once and a while and he says it's still good for crappie and bream. Anyway, if you go it will be interesting to hear how you do.

I bet those poachers know it is the deer opener and the Wildlife LE are going to be concentrating on deer hunters.

I'm a little surprised at the dates this is being held on TR, March 4-6, seems like there's a good possibility it will be a mite chilly out there. It will be interesting to see what the winning strategy will be.

Can they spawn or are they sterile? If they can reproduce it could create a problem, they might take over our cold water fisheries. Imagine the consequences, guides will be out of business because their clients will say, "Who needs a guide, I can see the darn things swimming around the river." Lodges and docks will fold as no one will fish for these mutants as they are so easy to catch that they won't provide enough of a challenge to veteran fishermen. This could be a bad situation, I suggest that anytime anyone catches one of these yellow trout, that you reserve a place for it in your frying pan.

November 16, 9 PM PT, the Nat GEO channel is showing "Expedition Great White" as part of Expedition week. They are going to fish for Great Whites off Baja using rod and reel, 5000 lb test braided, circle hooks the size of boat anchors, the goal is to CNR them, take blood samples, tag them for research. I think this will be worth watching.

Here and there..

I went out Saturday morning, water was still pretty stained, kind of a coffee with cream color. Started off fishing a lipless crankbait, after about 10 minutes hooked a nice 4-5 lb black bass that jumped and tossed the lure. After that I fished probably another 4 hours and did not get another bite. Tried to find some white bass, but I could not find them either. I finally put down the rodes and got the shad net out (there's shad all over that lake), netted myself about 50 shad, put them on ice, and went home. Returned on Sunday AM, catfish gear and shad in the cooler, went over to my favorite catfish spot and drifted shad, ended up catching 4 blues, 2-3 lb'ers about 40 feet down. Not a lot of bites, but when they hit it they really slammed it. Nice thing about this time of year, not nearly as many boats out there. Water also cleared considerably from Saturday, I think give it a couple more days and it will be looking good.

Thanks guys, it saves me from making a wasted trip down that way. I might have to swing over to Grand Lake this weekend.

Just curious what the water looks like, is it still really muddy, or is it fishable?

It's hard to get a perspective on size from the video, but it looks like a noce fish. Just curious, I never fish Taney, is that spot where the video is shot off limits to fishing?
