I have refrained from alot of pesticides this year. I have everything blooming but nothing putting on. Squash, tomatoes, cucumbers have lots of blooms but are not setting fruit. I have not noticed alot of bees running around the garden. I have tried not to do anything to kill any of whats left.

Beeson, where do you find Rice Vinegar? You forgot a little oil and sugar and some peppers.

Chief, most will be like the second guy, and I would be the same if you cross my property in the creek also. The other guy new he was bluffing. The most memorable bluff I have saw is the guy above the handicap access on the Norfork River in Salesville, the sign at the river states that it is a rifle range, keep out. Makes you nervous, but is harmless. I saw a guy putting one up on his land this weekend on the Spring River in Ark that stated "Beware of Snakes." Call his bluff next time and up it one, have him ask for someone on the force that you know when he calls the law and hand him the phone. Float by in a kayak, it is a real conversation starter.
-
In that case, I would have waited for the law and called his bluff. You probably would have won that one unless the law was his brother or friend. Then, you would have proved to him that it was legal and he could not harass you. There is a new law on the books that could be enforced in your favor also, it is unlawful to harass a sportsman in pursuit of game in Mo. now. Guy on the bank might be fined. Worse case, you could be found trespassing and asked to leave, you should not be arrested unless you start a fight with someone. You are right, almost all streams in Mo. are "navigable". If you get down to the nut cutting, only the Missouri and the Mississippi are used for commercial commerce anymore. Almost all streams that contain fish in Mo. have been used at one time or another for logging, hunting, fishing, transport, commerce, etc. I have been lucky over here, most areas have good access and landowners are great to get along with. Butler, Ripley, Carter counties are different, purple paint and signs.

Looks like a cucumber to me. Squash do not vine and the flowers are about the size of your fist. bloom in the morning and close up by the end of the day. Somebody probably switched labels at the store where you bought the plants as they all look alike till they start putting on several leaves.
-
Where or what stream was it posted? Mo. has the navigable stream rule, but where do you draw the line on navigable? I can float a kayak in 3-4 inches of water. I have not found many problems thru the years. Public access on private lands locally usually end up as swimming holes and party places. Drugs and drinking, roads blocked, other problems, then fences and signs go up. Purple paint flows freely around here now. Several accesses on the Little Black River have been closed because private landowners have taken over sections of what used to be county roads to make access impossible. Threats have been made and they will run you off if you try to launch a boat or wade the stream from these roads and as far as I can tell, the law is on their side. No way they can stop you from floating thru as long as you access from above and float thru. They will not give permission to access from the bridges either. Low water bridges have been replaced by several tall bridges and accesses have been shut down that way. State road right of ways have been posted with signs stating no trespassing in places where you used to drive down to the rivers. Railways post no trespassing in places where you used to walk down tracks to access rivers. Most of it boils down to a few people making someone mad and ruining it for all.

Gar are fun to fish for and great on the fly rod. Fishing is always best when water temps are up and they are closer to the top gulping air due to low O2 levels. I went out for a while a few weeks ago after a cold front went thru and had a few bites. Most were deeper and not interested.

That looks like it is in pristine condition. Most of mine are made in England except for the new BBSII which I believe is made in China, GRrrrr. I have a few old Herter's, HI, Martin, Shakespere, and an unknown made in the USA.

Thanks Dano. I hardly ever use it and doubt if I would fix it if it broke. It came with the Stowaway Rod I bought a few years ago for a beater rod in the Kayak as a combo setup. They are a decent setup for the price, but it is the only rod broken by accident, rolled it up in a power window and snapped the tip section. I repaired the tip myself and still fish it. All others are Orvis and have the no questions asked breakage warranty. And I have a covey of Orvis reels to go with them. I know Orvis will stand behind their product and carry parts for them. I am surprised that Cabela's would not help.

Guess you will have to drink Coors if you want an American Beer! Augie screwed up, STL will probably go downhill from here. Cardinals will become Dodo Birds. The Rams, well they should drink more buds, might help them. Grants farm will be gone. Other interests will be gone. Miss Bud will be eco friendly and become a hybreed. Clydesdale will be replaced by miniature pony's. To salute them, I am drinking Miller High Life Light tonite... Gotta give the other foreign owned brewery a chance too.
-
Wow, I would have never figured that out of Cabela's. They should have been able to give you someone that could get you repair parts. I have a Cabela's Prestige and just went thru the box it came in. Parts diagram and numbers, instructions on how to change directions of reel and spare disk drag, but no info on who made it and who to contact for parts. I would try a little harder with them, try to get a tech to help you with repair instead of just customer service. Chances are, the reel seats from other reels would work if the holes line up and threads are the same. I would try plugging away at Cabela's again. Take it to a local Cabela's store if you have one close. Last resort, if you live in STL, try Pauls Bait and Tackle, they carry parts and repair most reels, they may be able to come up with something.

I would either get a good epoxy and glue it back on or call Cabela's and see if they will sell you a new foot. Looks like it just screws on.

**** Another Fly Tying Station
jdmidwest replied to Terry Beeson's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
Terry, look for a custom hardwood floor installer or custom cabinet maker in your area. They usually work with the finer woods and sometimes you can go thru their scrap piles and find real nice pieces that are a good size for what you are doing. If not, they could get it. -

Great station. What are the 2 rows of trays on each side for? Where do you find the cedar at? -
I am looking for a new handheld GPS that has color and maps. Ebay is flooded with the Delorme PN-20 which probably means that there are alot of refurbs on the market. Are they any good? Anybody on here use one? I currently use a Magellan 210, it is a monochrome gps with mapping software. It does great and has a good battery life, but the map software is getting a little old. I am also looking at an all in one, PDA and GPS. Nobody makes one currently as PDA's are going out of style. Unfortunately, here in SEMO, we are still behind the times with cell service. I want something I can browse and check email at a hotspot, keep my addresses and schedules, read my news, listen to mp3, and find out where I am going. I don't have a cell service that will give me that, so a phone is not a concern and lets out alot of cell phones. There are PDA's less than a year old that combine GPS with PDA features and I am looking at them on the net also. Any feedback from other users on here?

Somebody email me some fresh salmon fillets, all I can find around here are made in China. I really wanted to go back this year....

Medium to low heat on gas, or directly over coals on charcoal grill. Taters cook slow, larger chunks if you do taters only, smaller chunks if you cook with soft veggies. I usually put on 10-20 minutes before meat. You can cook sweet corn this way also over coals or on grill. Shuck corn and wrap in foil with butter or leave in shuck and cook over coals.
-
Throw some Broccoli, Mushrooms, or Squash in there too for more variety. Works good at camp also, cut everything up before you leave and put in a ziploc.

I have fished the Quachita River below Blakely Dam for trout in the Spring and Lake Hamilton. Trout are stocked in the cooler months. Ark Fish and Game posts fishing reports and lists of fishing in each of the areas of Arkansas. You could drive a few hours and fish the Little Red.

It did not affect PcTools Firewall or Avast Antivirus. Both are free downloads and work well. I have always had issues with Zone Alarm and XP, I had always used it with Win 2000 without any hitches. With XP, it has caused mapped drives to disappear, wireless router to lose access, other problems.
-
You win, no trout, just excellent Smallmouth. Trout are further up on the Current River above Akers Ferry or over in the Eleven Point river. Jacks is not quite cold enough for trout.

Almost all accesses are from gravel roads at low water bridges. MDC has an access at Plantation Access, this is where it really starts to slow down and deep holes form. You can float from here to Millersville, it was pretty rough last fall, lots of trees in the river that you had to pull over or thru. Everything else is wadable, the further up the river the smaller the holes. Most of the river above Plantation is to low to kayak or canoe after May unless we have flooding like we did today. No camping like there is on the Castor. Almost all of the Whitewater is surrounded by private land and few gravel bars for camping.

Surprising enough, I have always used Outlook or Outlook Express for mail. It syncs with my pda better. I use Mailwasher to get rid of the spam first. Terry, Google "Thunderbird Tweak" and read a few of the articles, you may find something there. I don't know what you want to do with it.

Sheriffs dept writes tickets for the rowdiness, drugs, or minors with alcohol. MDC writes tickets for game violations or anything that the Sheriffs dept does not catch. Both are usually on the river on the weekends during peak float season. Since the NPS started the no tolerance rule with all the crazy's, the Sheriff is probably making a killing. 11pt has always been a calmer river compared to the Current or the Jack's Fork. Turner to Riverton or Whitten to Riverton usually gets most of the party floaters.

Just found this great guide on how to install, configure, and tweak the new Firefox Version 3. Alot has changed since the second version, even the way you configure the advance settings. It works with most of the websites, although there are a few older sites that I have to use the IE tab addin to view all of the websites. If you are using Firefox or thinking about it, look at this guide and find some new features. Firefox 3 tweak link
