Smear and Fear! A political tactic used during election years to strike fear in the general public that our Great USA is in bad shape and they are going to be the ones to fix it. Usually accelerated by politicians, media, and general rebel rousers. How can anyone promote change unless they can strike an idea in the American public that something is wrong with the America we all love so well, The Greatest Country on Earth. But some want to change it…. Sorry I have been away this week and left this red letter post unanswered. I went camping on my homewaters this weekend and had a blast. I have been enjoying this fine weather each afternoon after work outside and not wasting time on the computer. But I am back and I moved this over to a new thread as it does not have any relevance to the Sarah Palin thread for the most part. I'll use Green to make my response On Sept 5, Chief Greybear responded to my quote.

Was on that stretch 2 weeks ago on Labor Day weekend and had a blast. Crawdads were the feed that day. Fish were deep. I am sure the little rise did not hurt anything. With the river like it is, a float from Greer to Riverton would be an easy 2 day float. You should be able to cover it well and float thru pretty fast.

Reed's Cabins outside the park has a pretty good selection and some decent prices. Great Outdoors in Carbondale has a good selection of flies and Orvis equipment. Nothing beats T Hargrove or Feathercraft in STL.

Patching Breathable Waders Help Please
jdmidwest replied to trizkid's topic in General Flyfishing Topics
If it is a small hole and you don't have a patch kit, a dab of Aquaseal will do the trick also. -
Phil, you are right about everything being off a couple of weeks. Anchorage just reported the coldest summer since 1980, with only 2 days above 70 degrees. Cold ocean currents have been driving a cooler weather pattern that will not change till this winter sometime. I have been reading the same on the Cook Inlet streams, runs are late. Alaska is funny, being that salmon are usually on a 4 year cycle, runs vary from year to year depending on how the spawn was 4 years ago.

Smear and fear? What is wrong with the country today under the Bush Administration? We still have a low unemployment rate. The economy has slowed because of the election and higher fuel prices but we have used less and prices are going down. The dollar is improving. We still have plenty of safe food to eat. We can still go to sleep at night without fear of attack from terrorists. Crime rates are down. Tax rates have been cut at my pay grade. The Democratic party wants to change that?

Historically, that section has always been a great spot. Its deep and fast enough to hold some nice rainbows and has given up several over the years. Its one of the first places we stop at on the way up from Riverton in the Jet Boat or one that we paddle down to in a float. Of course, I don't know of many bad spots on the 11 point. Just depends on what you want to fish for.

Yep, looks like it is a major tracker, almost akin to spyware except you agree to it in the terms (which nobody reads including me). It was fast but I did not like it compared to Firefox. I like my addins and features. About all I read today on the net today said the same thing, just another way for Google to keep track of things to promote its marketing ability. They are really going to push it into the mobile phone market which makes sense.

Follow the herd, there is strength in numbers. Only the weak and sick will be weeded out. The majority of the people can't be wrong can they? I think the RNC last night pointed it out very clear, we need experienced, qualified leaders for the future. Obama campaign uses Change to promote themselves, McCain campaign will use experience to promote Change. Obama is the least experienced candidate in 100 YEARS. We need a leader, not a speaker.

I'm thinkin there will be another Clinton hissy fit when Palin becomes the first Woman President. She laid it out good tonight, not bad for a mayor from the great town of Wasilla, nice fly shop there. Three Rivers Fly Shop. Good fishing in that area, close to Montana Creek.

Just run across this on the web tonight. Seems like Chrome is a tracker that reports back to Google. I did note that it started a new Google update service that automatically loads each time the computer starts. Google Chrome's Fine Print Spurs Privacy Concerns Jennifer LeClaire, newsfactor.com Wed Sep 3, 4:56 PM ET Google Chrome didn't even make it through 24 hours of downloads before stirring controversy. The search giant's new Web browser is in the privacy spotlight thanks to terms of service that give it rights some may not want to grant. "There are some questions about exactly what the browser is capturing. The licensing agreement says it is sending everything you type back to Google so it can better find searches. But are folks going to be comfortable with that?" asked Michael Gartenberg, vice president of mobile strategy for Jupitermedia. Pushing Downloads Automatically That's a question more people are beginning to ask. On the surface, Google said it designed a browser window that is streamlined and simple. Under the hood, Google said it was able to build the foundation of a browser that runs today's complex Web applications much better. But what else does it do? According to Google Chrome's terms of service, the software may automatically download and install updates from time to time from Google. Google promises these updates are designed to "improve, enhance and further develop" the services, and may take the form of bug fixes, enhanced functions, new software modules and completely new versions. When you download Chrome, you agree to receive the updates. Given Google's philosophy to "launch early and iterate," its desire to automatically download and install updates to the user's PC doesn't surprise analysts. Google has said Chrome is far from done. The company is releasing the beta for Windows to start a broader discussion and get feedback from consumers as quickly as possible. Perpetual, Irrevocable, Worldwide Rights It's the latter part of the terms of service that are begging questions. Google Chrome users must agree that: "By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any content which you submit, post or display on or through, the services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the services and may be revoked for certain services as defined in the additional terms of those services." Chrome's service terms also indicate that some of the services are supported by advertising revenue and may display advertisements and promotions. These advertisements, Google explained, may be targeted to the content of information stored on the services, queries made through the services, or other information. Read the Fine Print Noteworthy is the fact that Chrome's terms of service have similar wording to Google Docs' service terms. Google got backlash for its terms when it released the Web-based software in August 2007. Gartenberg noted that when you download Chrome, you receive a unique browser identifier number. That means Google not only knows what people are typing, but Google also knows what browser it came from. "People may want to read the fine print on that license agreement very carefully in terms of what you are sending back to Google," Gartenberg advised. "It always pays to read the fine print." Rebecca Ward, senior product counsel for Google Chrome, commented, "In order to keep things simple for our users, we try to use the same set of legal terms for many of our products. Sometimes, as in the case of Google Chrome, this means that the legal terms for a specific product may include terms that don't apply well to the use of that product. We are working quickly to remove language from Section 11 of the current Google Chrome terms of service. This change will apply retroactively to all users who have downloaded Google Chrome."

WOW, the RNC is taking a wild turn tonight. Rudy is fired up and going strong. Major fun factor tonight. - Obama is the least experienced person to run for president in 100 YEARS. - Biden should get the VP nomination in writing, Obama may change mind. Gotta go, Sarah Palin is coming on to show him a thing or two................

Google released their new internet browser based on a Safari type core software. Trying it out tonight. Seems pretty fast and clean. I have been a Firefox fan for years, I have used Opera also. Tried Safari for a while and was not impressed. Good things about Chrome. Seems to be clean and fast. No clutter in the menus. Imports Firefox settings. Easy to configure. Bad. No scrolling with mouse? Not much help configuring it. Can't download it as a standalone software, have to let Google do a web install. Time will tell.

Thanks, I like to have some fun with cameras, especially since the digital age. It is just a hobby, but I end up with some nice wallpapers. When I came back from Alaska last year, I dumped all of my pics on my buddies computer because he did not take a camera. All 800 of them, unedited. You can alway pick thru and find a few keepers. The old ostrich was from last years trip. I am probably gonna have to hide out for a while, look at what my Sarah Palin post has racked up since last Friday. Phil has probably exceeded his bandwidth for the month.

I like the feel of Bamboo rods. I have picked up on eBay a 9' Horrocks Ibottson that casts a 5 wt and a 7 foot Montgomery Ward that likes a 7 wt. Both were less than $100 and are alot of fun. I have in the past fished custom Bamboos made by a friend of mine. They are slow action and weigh a little more but they are classic. Even with new graphite I tend to stick to the slower to mid range tapers. I have seen US made rods at Cabelas for around $500. They look like decent rods. As always, I suggest you cast one and see how you like it before you buy it. Just watch out on eBay, there is a whole bunch of junk on there that is overpriced. I was lucky to have a friend that has been trading Bamboo for years for a little advice. He has a nice collection that he has picked up over the years.

Snap, it would be pretty tough there. Floods have cut into the banks and made some pretty steep banks. And trees are laid over there also. There is a nice spot above Halls Bay where the river runs into the bluff and a slough comes in on the left side. You could go up or down for a long ways and have some good fishing. Good place to camp across from the bluff. I can't think of the name of the bluff. Then there is Boze Mill also.

I don't know if you watch the news but Obama released a statement that family and kids are off limits. Gloves are off for actual people running for office.
-
The reasons that Palin's daughter has not been brought up. 1: Its off limits and out of character. 2: Alot of the American Public has the same problem, it gives her something more in common with the average Joe. 3: Obama is the product of an 18 year old unwed pregnancy. Nuff said?

Lightening hit twice in the same place? Where do you live? Do you have a metal roof? I have had several customers nailed this year, seem worse than others. One guy had it come in his water heater vent pipe and blew a hole out of his roof. New house, lived there a month, no trees around. Another last week came in blew garage door opener apart and damaged Avalanche parked in garage. Again, new house on golf course, no trees around. It did not start any fires.

If we keep buying all of their cheap crap at Walmart, we might end up like them..........
-
But what is that destination? What does he want to accomplish if he makes it to office? What are his plans to achieve the change?
-
Good luck.. Try the DNR, MDC, and the Corps of Engineers. They are all responsible and the more you let know about it helps.

I think we get bonus points for stirring the pot, it is always in fun.................................

Dano, did you respect the man who about 10 years ago looked you straight in the eye and lied to you on Nationwide TV with his stearn face and pointing finger. Someone who currently makes millions on his memoirs and could not remember anything under oath during his time in office. He ruined the oath and honor of the highest office in the land and still rakes in millions giving speeches. We have paid for our past by voting popular opinion instead of what the person's core values and ideas are. We need more candidates with good moral values and pure hearts instead of talk and lies. We need to think out any decisions in the future, don't just vote for the lesser of 2 evils. And we should never vote just because of party lines.

I don't have time to post tonight, its a simple pattern. Size 12 or 14 Nymph hook 2x long, gold or copper 1/8" bead, 3-5 wraps of lead wire to hold bead in place. Tye in fine copper wire and tail of black krystal flash or black hackle. Taper black antron dubbing to the bead and wrap copper wire to the bead and finish. Another version uses black chenille or vernille, the key is the taper cone shape of the natural snail. Next time down there when you kill a fish, look at stomach and you will probably find snails or moss most of the time.
