  1. A 5.03 was caught during a tournament this weekend. I didn't fish it so I didn't get to see it in person. If I can come across a pic and they don't mind if I share it, I will post it. The biggest smallmouth I was able to land out of that river this weekend was about 12.5 inches........
  2. We put in at Tuscumbia and ran up Wednesday. The first spot we stopped produced two good largemouth and a couple little kentuckies so I thought it was going to be a great day. They cranked the water on at the dam and it was ripping pretty good before long and the fishing was tough the rest of the day. My fiance spanked me pretty good throwing a 3" green pumpkin power grub. The weekends are usually more productive for bass since they don't run much water. There are guys who can catch them with the water running, but I haven't figured out how to do it yet personally.
  3. You will need to register your unit on Humminbirds website and download HumminbirdPC. That lets you manage waypoints and make them in to a format you can put on an SD chip. You then just pop the chip in your graph and it will upload them. HumminbirdPC is really nice because you can make groups of waypoints for different bodies of water, areas of the lake, etc so you don't clutter your graph up with thousands of waypoints. Plus you have an extra backup on your system in case something would happen to your graph.
  4. The chute this accident happened in is barely wide enough for two boats and it bends pretty hard at the narrowest spot so you can't see what is coming. The only truly safe way to run it would be to shut down on the down river side and listen for on coming boats. I've ran it plenty and I cross my fingers and hope nobody else is coming. It's one of worst spots on the river due to the blind spot. It's also a busy spot due to there being a big gravel bar right below it where people tend to congregate. Speaking of floaters, I had to shut down in the middle of a chute and hit bottom just to avoid running a group of them over. They had the whole chute clogged and you could 't see them till it was already shallow. Had this happened in a few others areas in particular, I would have been having to push my boat off of gravel. I wouldn't be surprised to hear about an accident where a floater is struck by a jet boat one of these days. The lower the river gets, the riskier things get for everybody. I think you are crazy to float the Gasconade anywhere below Jerome or even highway 28 above there due to all the jet boat traffic. I know I sure won't so it regardless of having a jet boat.
  5. 7' BPS Microlite in Medium-Light or Light action ($50) Pflueger President 6925 series spinning reel ($60) Pline Fluroclear in either 2 or 4# test depending on how clear the water is The light action rod works well with 3/32oz and lighter jigs. I'd prefer to have a medium-light for 1/8oz though.
  6. The Gasconade hasn't been any better for the past several weeks. Seems every time I have got on the water, it's when the water has started dropping hard. I took a buddy out this past Saturday during mid day and we fished several good areas and only had a few little spots and one nice largemouth to show for it. I'm about to just stick to fishing the Osage. That's the only decent trip I've had in a month.
  7. Just keep at it. Try different area's (deep, shallow, rock, wood, etc) and never sit longer than 25 minutes in a spot with getting bit. If there are active fish in the area, it won't take them long to bite.

    World Cup

Costa Rica tied it up late and ended up winning in the penalty kick round. Greece had a ton of chances to score but never could finish. Both games today were fun to watch.
  9. June is usually a tough month for blues and channels because they are n beds. Things should start picking up again from July onward. Check out the Missouri Reservoir section of catfish1.com for more up to date reports on LoZ cat fishing.
  10. I've shot docks with my 7' light action microlite, but I would prefer to have the medium light for a little bit more backbone.

What about winning silver and bronze medals in the Olympics? How about fishing tournaments where you still WIN money for getting well below 1st place? Do those not count? There are probably a bunch of others I'm not mentioning. Anyways, they advanced to the next round. That's not really "winning" to me.
  12. Had you stayed up, you could have watched me drive circles around the campground trying to decide which campsite was for the rodeo. I didn't think to actually check which sites Al had said they would be in before coming down. My final resort was to just start walking up to people in the dark like a creeper and asking if this was Al's campsite. Only took me three times to get the right one.
  13. Monster 33/45s on the back for cat fishing and trolling dipsy divers for paddlefish. Eventually, I will swap them for Driftmaster Pro duo's with the 0/33 degree rod angles. Left threaded models on the port side and right threaded on starboard.
  14. I need to try that. Sometimes when throwing them in current, I have a hard time keeping them down. Bumping up to a -/2oz model was my plan.
  15. Good point. He should suffer.
  16. (old rig) 2008 Legend SS 1852 Flat Bass with 2008 Evinrude Etec 115/80 outboard jet (new rig) 2014 Legend SS 1860 semi v with 2013 Evinrude Etec 150/105 outboard jet.
  17. No kidding! I can't even fathom how somebody could be sick enough in the head to do this type of stuff. Hang em high and let the rest of the freaks get a good long look. I bet they would weight their options a lot better if they knew they actually had to fear punishment.
  18. I had the same rod and it snapped on me when I set the hook on a brush pile. My experience with BPS was the same. Took it in and they replaced it with the same model without any hassle.
  19. Bending the front lip down a hair gives you more vibration as well like in the pic bluebasser86 posted. Here is the parts needed to make your own. You can save better than half the price buying the parts and putting them together yourself versus buying new from a store. http://lurepartsonline.com/Jig-Dancer-Blades_2.html http://lurepartsonline.com/Duo-Lock-Snaps.html http://lurepartsonline.com/Dancer-Swim-Jigs_2.html (you can also do the split ring/flat eye jighead like bluebasser86 posted) http://lurepartsonline.com/Standard-Silicone-Skirts.html
  20. This was being discussed over on Bass Boat Central. One of the board sponsors that makes and sells lures said that they are only going after the companies that attach the blade directly to the jighead. The sponsor said they came after him, and all he did was attached the jighead to the blade using a split ring and they stopped bothering him. They also said that they were trying to go after Barlows, LurePartsOnline and others who sell the jigheads that come with an open eye made specifically for attaching chatterbait blades and making your own. You can make your own for $2 or less by buying the blades, snap lock swivels, jig heads and skirts from the online tackle part stores. I'm sure they will still be better built than the ZMAN product. If Zman would put a decent hook on their chatterbaits, I wouldn't have any reason to buy another brands. Instead of just improving their lure, they would rather spend the money on forcing the smaller guys to quit making there own higher quality version of the chatterbait.
  21. Try one sometime. They are a lot of fun and it will make you a better fishermen. It's really helped me in the few years I have started doing them.

That was a crazy game! I can't believe the US gave up a goal in the last 30 seconds!
  23. I fished between Jerome and boiling Spring Friday evening for a couple hours and caught 8. Half and half smallies and largemouth (and one gar). Pretty slow. I got to the campground around 10 and talked with Al, GreasyB and a few guys from riversmallies. I wish i had gotten there earlier to meet more folks.
  24. Have you hooked it up to another vehicle or even straight to a battery? I keep a spare plug for the vehicle side around so that I can test the lights directly on a battery. Touch the white wire to the negative side of a battery and the yellow, green and brown to the positive side of the battery. That will at least take the vehicle out of the equation and let you know if the problem is with the trailer or the truck. Wiring a trailer is simple so I can't imagine that being the issue if you just installed a new harness. Even with a bad ground, you should get something to light up if it's getting power to the trailer. I would get a tester and ground it to the truck frame and then check the green, yellow and brown for juice. If that doesn't work, then check the truck side right before the plug. If you got juice at the truck then you have a bad connection at the plug.
  25. Do you not have running or brake lights on either side at all on the boat trailer? If not, I would have to think something is wrong at the plug on the truck or boat. If your grounds are good, you should have something lighting up since you have yellow and green for your turn signals and a common brown wire for running lights on each side. Do other trailers work fine on that same vehicle when plugged in?
