  1. Put in at Pa He Tsi and fished not far from the boat ramp and brought back three limits. We probably caught 70-80 fish overall. Lots of nice females and a few smaller males mixed in. My buddy went back today and only caught 30. Not sure if it was due to the weather being a little cooler or what but yesterday was much better. We used jigs and it didn't matter which color you were using that I could tell.
  2. Thanks for the report. Any idea how much longer the whites will be running down there like this? I'd like to make one more trip down there for whites, crappie, and paddlefish before the end of the month. I may have to take out a small loan to afford the gas though.
  3. Have you heard any paddlefish rolling up at Blunks yet?
  4. I'd imagine McCords down to the white boat house below Walnut Springs should be loaded with fish right now.
  5. Got a buddy who is going to snag a lot down there the next week. He'll find them and then let me know and I'll pass on the word.
  6. Forgot about the pictures! They are up now. Tires are at 30% tread just guessing. Body is in good shape. It has a small door ding on driver side door, scratches in the bed, and some small dings on the top of the tailgate from hauling stuff. There's a few small scratches on the side and one small 1/4" chip on the front of the hood from a rock. The driver seat has a spot that's wearing out from getting in and out and there's a picture of it. Never been in any wrecks and I have had the truck since it was new. I only have a 10 mile commute to work and I don't put enough miles on this thing to justify having it anymore. I was driving a lot in college when I bought it and it served its purpose great during that time period.
  7. Year: 2005 Model: Ford Ranger XL 2wd 2.3L 4 cylinder Transmission: 5 speed manual Mileage: 955xx Other: rubber floors, vinyl seats, AM/FM radio, one owner Oil was changed every 5k, fuel/air filter every 30k, and tranny fluid around 60k. It just got a new set of front rotors and wheel bearings this past weekend. The inside is in great shape except for a spot on the driver seat that is wearing out from getting in and out. The truck get's great fuel economy. In the summer I usually average 27-28mpg and 24-26 in the winter time. I've hit 30mpg a few times before on long trips. Asking $5500. My cell is 573-680-1154. Call or post on here if interested or have any questions.
  8. I'll email her again and double check. That email was from 2 years ago I think.
  9. We emailed Trish Yasger who does the spoonbill report and she said it's perfectly legal to catch and release paddlefish until you decide to keep your second fish for the day. It wouldn't make much sense to say you HAVE to keep a legal paddlefish when you have to toss back short fish. If you read the rules closer, it says you must stop after TAKING and POSSESSING a limit of two paddlefish is when you have to quit snagging for the day. TAKING and POSSESSING means you plan on keeping the fish. What sense would it make to say you have to throw back a snagged bass, catfish, etc but that you absolutely HAVE to keep a paddlefish that meets or exceeds the length limit.
  10. We boated 10 or 11 between midnight Friday till midnight Saturday. It was cold and nasty, but I guess it was worth it. Three fish were near 70, two near 60 and the rest were 35-50. Here's some pics. We kept two of the smaller males and tossed the rest back in the river. People gave us some funny looks as we sent them big fish swimming on their way.
  11. Lots of spoons being caught near Flat Creek since season opened. The thread below titled Big Fish has a pic of a 95 a guy caught this past weekend. Also seen another 90 caught last friday in the same area.
  12. It was only about a foot deep last weekend along the boat ramp side. I tried idling up through it with the jet boat just for the heck of it and ended up sucking it full of gravel and stuff. Had to float back down a bit and let the junk fall out of the jet and then get on plane to get above it.
  13. Wow what a monster! That's the second spoonbill over 90 I've seen pics of from the James already this year. Congrats!
  14. We caught 14 Saturday and 12 Sunday. Most were really nice sows. The small males we caught came down by the sharp bend above mccords. Everything above that was nice fish for the most part. On Saturday we caught most of the fish below Blunks along the rocks and on Sunday it was above Blunks along the mud banks. Did see some guys catch a 4 pound walleye down from Blunks trolling a crankbait of some sort. Nice white my girlfriend caught Saturday Just being silly! The girlfriend can use this one to brag to everybody lol.

  16. we caught 14 whutes and several small crappie between mccords and blunks saturday along banks with chunk rock. on sunday we got 12 more whites and a few crappie. most whites were caught above blunks along mud bank. majority of the whites were nice sows. had a couple pushing 3 pounds.
  17. Good report. I'm heading down to Bridgeport to stay the weekend and fish as soon as I get off work and get everything together. Hope you guys are right on the white bite.
  18. Awesome job! I bet those were some happy clients! I passed on opening night this year down there but will be down this weekend. My buddies dad and his buddy snagged at midnight up around Ashercane and said they hit 7 or 8 but only boated three between the two of them. Not horrible but not the best we've done. he said lots of fish were rolling and they would come up and run right next to the boat and splash water on them. Pretty cool.
  19. The snagging usually benefits when the water comes up like this. The spoonbill started running up the James by the second weekend. They were stacked up thick by Galena and people were hammering them from the banks.
  20. Reading this is going to hurt my work productivity this week. I'll day dreaming about catching whites down there when I should be focusing on work.
  21. Looks like the temps are supposed to be 70+ from Wednesday on for next weekend. Do you think this will get the whites moving and biting on the James River near Cape Fair? A couple of us are going to be down for snagging, white bass, and crappie fishing Friday - Sunday. I've heard the crappie have been biting fairly decent from some other guys.
  22. I went today with the girlfriend and dad. Dad limited on powerbait on bottom, i got one on powerbait and two on a 1/8oz sculpin jig from Lilleys and the girlfriend caught on powerbait on bottom. Fish were decent sized. We fished from noon till 3:30.
  23. Duckydoty, that is awesome! I may have to try that technique out this year when they get stacked up thick. I can only imagine how much fun that would be on a fly rod.
  24. Anybody ever had luck using dipsy divers or the equivalent and trolling spoons, spinners, rogues, etc? Never thought about trying that before now, but I'm going order a few for trying out snagging this year and thought about maybe trying them on Taney as well just for the heck of it. I'd most likely use it for trolling big baits for big fish.
  25. Thanks for the report. I do appreciate it it.
