Oh, cut him some slack. It’s what I’ve come to expect from the OA Eeyore 😄

Thanks to both of you. Whippy Dip is the local ice cream parlor. We stood in line with about a hundred college and high school kids in freezing temperatures last year when they opened. Just good, clean fun. 😄

I know this is a fishing forum, but...We had some phenomenal food at the Dug Road Inn where we stayed. Here's a crepe with sausage, kalamata olives, feta, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers and Hollandaise: Flourless chocolate torte with raspberry coulis: (I literally licked the plate ) Second morning was a souffle with bacon and mushrooms with perfectly roasted potatoes. Followed up with a meringue and whipped cream thing with shaved chocolate: Sounds crazy for breakfast I know -- but it was really, really good stuff. And, some great beer at Pulpit Rock Brewery. The raspberry sour was excellent. The other is a Dortmunder style lager and was very good too. Our new favorite brewery in Decorah. Unfortunately, the Whippy Dip hasn't opened for the season.

Headed up to Decorah, IA last weekend for a couple days prior to driving down to the Quad Cities to see Kathy's mom. Stayed at a local B&B, and when the owner asked what we had planned we said a little fishing among other things. Turns out his dad owns a farm right on a small stream that bisects the IA/MN border north of Decorah, so he gave us info on how to get there. Kathy grew up fishing but fly fishing is pretty new to her. I was determined to get her into a position to catch a wild trout. We headed up to MN Sunday morning and picked up our licenses and headed back to the stream. I tied on a small white dry to try for some splashy risers near where we parked. It was calm, glassy water and I couldn't get a taker. Kathy did get a nice photo at least: After that I tied a pheasant tail nymph to each of our tippets and we headed downstream a few hundred yards. It wasn't too long before we had a couple little brown trout, including Kathy's first wild trout and first brown trout. And...both of our first Minnesota fish. There were a couple bald eagles gliding around much of the time we were fishing. We were both watching one carrying something when he/she landed in its nest not far from where we had been fishing. It was up in an evergreen tree and we hadn't noticed it. Kinda cool. We both really enjoyed the few hours we fished, and promised the next time we're up there we'll allow more time for it. Google may have restricted ads but I’m still seeing them. I guess they know a sucker when they see one.

That right there is fun!!

My indoor lettuce is looking good. Maters are just starting to get true leaves—they’re behind a little. Can’t get peppers to pop even though I presprouted them. May have to buy plants. Started ground cherries and they’re popping. Lots on the plate the next 60 days. Gonna have to find time for all this.

Shrimp and veggie sir fry. Little sauce of white wine, rice vinegar, teriyaki sauce and cornstarch to thicken.

The absolute pinnacle of BS! And you’ve got a mighty big mountain of it beneath. You should be proud! 😄

Someone is ripe for an IRS audit

What are you guys, British? Nobody here goes 'to university'.

Don’t know where else to put this, so I’ll put it here. A friend suggested this show the other day. I’ve watched the first few and it’s hilarious. Available on Amazon Prime https://www.amazon.com/Corner-Gas/dp/B07KWHJPSK/ref=nodl_

Irish Soda Bread. I make mine kinda sweet with dried cranberries inside and raw sugar sprinkled over the top. And, one of my personal favorites — Shepherd’s Pie. Done with Guinness in the gravy this time. Updating the recipe 😄

Or more likely bored attorneys trying to find products without warnings to make up warnings for. Like: ”Airborne pepper can make you sneeze. Please exercise caution when applying.”
-
So, how were the spring rolls? 😄
-
Lol. I laughed so hard Ruby hid under the table 😄

I think we’ve all given into the temptation to eat flour right out of the bag. Thank goodness it now comes with a warning!

Tonight here it was Aunt Lori’s Sloppy Joes and tater tots with ness 2.3. First I peeled 5 pounds of Yukon Gold potatoes, then parboiled them for 290 seconds, and ran them through the tot die on the Kitchen Aid before putting measured amounts into Grandma Vi’s tot press.... Ok—I’m making that part up. It was Ore Idas, and they were tasty done in the oven. Woulda been better deep fried, but I don’t do dat. Super sweet sloppy Joes for the boy, and sent him home with enough to get him through a day or more. It was a good night here.

Dang. Agree on the chops. It’s a fine line between delicious and shoe leather.

You just can’t come on here and say, ‘I marinated them all afternoon’. What in, dang it?😄 I do admire a guy that admits shortcuts on the rice and salad. Time is scarce!
