  1. 'Seth Rig' -- it's yours for the taking
  2. I kinda enjoy hearing the southern term 'might-could'. Like 'I might-could go fishin' this weekend.' But back to the fingernails on the chalkboard angle: I absolutely can't stand it when politicians refer to others as 'My distinguished colleague'. It's always such a hollow phrase for one thing. But, it's also kinda like they're saying hey, he's distinguished, and a colleague, so I must be pretty distinguished myself. The fact that it's often followed by a something like '...is as dumb as a brick' kinda waters it down too. 'My friend' in that context is similar. McCain is the worst with that one.
  3. Every time I think about a song getting stuck in my head, I think of 'Tight Pants' and it starts all over. Like right now. LOLL
  4. I do -- got the song stuck in my head now. Thanks.
  5. OK smarty pants -- there needs to be a conjunction right after the first comma. 'And' would be good choice. Semicolon would work too.
  6. I'll tell you the one that I really notice is 'like'. Some of the, like, youngsters, can't get a, like, complete sentence out without, like, three like, likes in it.
  7. Hah -- yeah, it was my mom that drilled that one into my head.
  8. OK, fine. Just try getting past the security door.
  9. RAT -- I see you down there.....
  10. Fine -- I never liked that DB anyway. So...bring it on, cowboy! (we're both kidding, right?)
  11. I typically only use LOL when I literally LOLed, and in that case I follow it with 'literally or just put on an extra L' Yes, I noticed that thread. And, noon approaches......... Last I heard we were on for lunch, but he's picking up reinforcements -- somebody by the name of KC.
  12. Yeah, they literally get it wrong every single time, irregardless.

    2014 Garden

Things are lookin pretty good in the garden so far. Picked lots of lettuce, spinach and radishes. Succession planted some radishes and carrots. Gooseberries, strawberries and black raspberries are forming. It's always kinda fun to see them coming on. Gooseberries Black raspberries Taters in tainers Lettuce, carrots, beets and pole beans Spinach, lettuce, radish, bush beans and snap peas Garlic scape Lettuce, shallots, garlic, peppers, onion, collard, cabbage, maters (honest) Parsley, radish, onion, bush bean, collard, cabbage, maters.
  14. Sure -- I'm free around noon. You know how to get ahold of me.
  15. Well, now it's 90 outside....
  16. BTW -- you owe me a PM, man. I can't hold my calendar open forever.
  17. Naw -- more like a rifle to a sniper. And I'd only need two bullets. After the job was done I'd look up Ron Kruger and invite him back to the kinder and gentler OA.
  18. Well, ain't this Ozark Anglers at it's finest. Phil -- give me admin privileges for 10 minutes and I'll clean this up for you and take the blame. Kool Aid and PO need some company.
  19. My beans got singed a little, but that's the extend of the damage. Funny -- in my little garden the maters and peppers are at one end and the beans are at the other. No frost on maters and peppers, but frost on everything else about 10 feet away.
  20. Topsoil is generally pretty heavy, and I think it would take a pretty high proportion of good compost to make it right. I couldn't even begin to guess how many fish you'd need. When I built my raised beds a few years back, I filled them with 100% compost trucked in from a place in town. That was some great stuff -- real black, light and airy. I do the square foot method, so I've got stuff planted very close together. The nice, loose, nutrient-rich soil is a real plus. I've topped it off a couple times with big box compost, but it's crap. Wood chips and even rocks. I'd do the compost thing again, but there's a minimum order amount that is way more than I need. This year I topped it off with bagged potting soil. I was surprised at how much wood was in it, but, it was still pretty good stuff. Lots of peat and vermiculite. It was a little expensive, but I think it helps make the most of my little garden.
  21. I dunno, man. Hoosier is a St. Louis thing. If I used the term around here I guarantee you everybody's gonna think Indiana, basketball, Gene Hackman, or the 'old picket fence'. Use that term at a Chiefs or Royals game and you're gonna get blank stares. And, I've never heard the term used in the Ozarks, except by the tourists that came down on I-44 to spread their wisdom among the unwashed.
  22. 35 here, light frost
  23. Dang--8 inches! All bets are off with that much rain.
  24. but first, take the pH.
  25. Shut 'em down. Gotcha.
