  1. I've got a buddy that fishes for cats just like what you're describing Chief. I've never done it, but can appreciate what goes into it. Do you still do it?
  2. Man, love to hear these stories of seeing coveys. Chase -- where is your Brittany coming from?
  3. Why don't guys just push through a constitutional amendment and settle this once and for all?

    First Mater

Did you guys start from seed, or buy plants? I'd be surprised to see plants as early as you're talking about. But you'd also have had to start the seed way early.
  5. That seems counter-intuitive. If a coyote comes along a quail nest, he's gonna eat the eggs or chicks just like a raccoon would, right? He's not gonna take a pass on that in the hopes he can run down a rabbit. I'm sure there are a lot of other things going on I'm not thinking about.
  6. Cool mods. Looks like you really gave it a lot of thought. What's the surface like on the decking material?

    Who's Reading What?

I've only done a couple audio books. Didn't really care for the format. Currently reading 'The Great Escape' by Paul Brickhill, one of the prisoners at Stalag Luft III. It's a pretty quick read -- only a couple hundred pages or so. The lingo he uses (he's an Aussie) makes you stop and scratch your head every once in a while. If you've seen the movie, you get the gist, but it doesn't give you a real good sense of the scale of their operations or the scrutinity they faced. Tons of sand dispersed, thousands of bed (and other) boards swiped, hundreds of milk cans, utensils, etc. Hundreds of documents forged, complete with photos from a camera they bribed a guard to get them. Also made a couple hundred sets of clothes -- either German uniforms or civilian, compasses, maps. They learned German, French and other languages. Just crazy how much was involved.

    Who's Reading What?

Yeah, that is a good one. Rented the movie, made a couple years back, and couldn't get through it.

    Who's Reading What?

Finished Truman a while back. Man, what a great book about a great man. A guy who valued friendship, loyalty, honesty, integrity, and hard work. A guy who didn't really hit stride until his 50's. Somebody who faced some of the toughestd decisions ever, and who steered us though some of the most precarious times we have faced -- when the survival of mankind was not certain at all. He made some extraordinarily tough calls, and though you might find fault with some now, you appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into them, and the context within which they were made. If you're a little skeptical about reading history, you should consider giving this a chance. I think you'll find a lot of parallels with what we face now. The political climate, role of government, and lots of other stuff sound just like today. It adds a cool perspective to things. McCullough really writes well, and the book just flows. It's not a stuggle, but a real pleasure to read. One of those books that I wished didn't end.
  11. Short? I never noticed. Super cool? [fill it in]
  12. Is it that one dude that ties 'em really, really fast?
  13. Sale was from FDIC to a private entity. I don't think you'll see it published anywhere, but what do I know? I think it was listed at $5 million. I also stumbled onto a listing for WindRush at $5.8 million. Ain't gonna happen.
  14. So, was this guy's reputation harmed so that it affected him? Or was he just uptight, looking to right a wrong and make a buck? You didn't mention his name....
  15. Yellow strips? I see a lot of them.
  16. You know Smallie, I know where you're coming from. There are definitely abuses within the process, but I don't see Al's example as one of them. This whole intellectual property thing is misunderstood by a lot of folks. If you make your living from creating things, and someone comes along and swipes it for their use, it's really stealing. Swiping one of the billion or so copies of the Loch Ness monster for an avatar is one thing; swiping a painting, applying it to a product you are selling is another thing. Al gave them a warning and they challenged him. So he stuck it to them. That's fair. Probably felt pretty good too, right Al?
  17. Glad you ordered that. I don't know the Ed Story book, but the Tryon book is great. It's a good intro to fly fisning, and lays out most all the locations. Another book I really like, that is more geared toward small stream tactics, is Curtis Creek Manifesto. It's written in a comic book format, but don't think it's for kids. It has some of the best discussion of technique around, and the format is really helpful for making it stick. It's very concise, and heavily illustrated. Funny too.
  18. The kevlar/epoxy kit Gavin mentioned will work on an Old Town too. And if it doesn't, all you're out is an Old Town Not a real hard project at all. They are tough!
  19. No mistakes, just happy accidents
  20. Firefox from mozilla.org -- watch your browser troubles melt away!
  21. Have you got Fly Fishing for Trout in MO by Chuck Tryon? I think it's an excellent book with a lot of good information about locations in MO. A lot of the rules have changed, and some of the info on places to stay will have changed, but that shouldn't matter too much.
  22. I've seen more the last couple years too. Also had a good pheasant season in NW MO this year. Didn't even go to western KS. I'm hopeful.
  23. Clear that advertisement outta your signature bub. It's in EVERY post.
