  1. Not a horrible idea for a thread at all. On a small stream with obvious holding water and a lot of obstacles I’ll usually try a couple things. Try dapping a dry fly in any little pocket or eddy you see first. Watch your approach and shadows. Cover the spots thoroughly but don’t spend a ton of time repeating the same thing. Then, if it’s pretty deep, take the time to rig properly. Longer leader, extra weight to get your fly down quickly. Drift it in and extricate it quickly. Agree with a wooly bugger or mohair leech.

AP is fine, shouldn’t need sugar. Here’s a good resource. https://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/feeding-and-maintaining-your-sourdough-starter-recipe

    What's Cooking?

Hey Rick, glad it got there ok!
  5. Congrats to her, and here's to many fly fishing adventures.
  6. That’s bull. I don’t remember exactly what flyswap you might be re getting at, but I was never on riversmallies or whatever the Wilson board is you’re talking about. Yes on Matt Tucker’s Ozark Chronicles. I’ve probably hosted 5-6 fly swaps over the years. Never was in it to make money, never did make money, but sometimes ended up with extra flies. Pretty sure I always asked for a few bucks to cover postage, didn’t always get that. Usually lost money if I had to guess. Can think of a couple folks that just didn’t pay. If you got stuff mailed from my work, you can be fricking sure I reimbursed the company for it. I’ve been there 35 years, and often send stuff from there. It’s easier than dragging it to the post office. So screw your and your gossip.
  7. Nobody, myself included, ever made money on a fly swap. I did do a fly swap that you scoffed at repeatedly yet didn’t participate in while still having about 100 posts in the thread. That the one you’re talking about?
  8. Well hell, if I thought I could get him to pay for it I wouldn’t have put 20 forever stamps on and wondered it it would get there. I clearly need to bone up on the intricacies of postage use.
  9. No, the secret to my sourdough is, well, a secret😄
  10. I may have underdone the postage. I’ll let you know if it comes back on its own and we can go from there.
  11. There’s a whole list of stuff you’ll need if @Gavin is along. PM me for details.
  12. Man, if there was a way to pull the string on that package I just sent you I would!!
  13. But it’ll be fun!
  14. Yep, he stirred the pot. Get over it already. There’s no requirement here for posting fishing or related content. Paul Dallas is a treasure. He’s first in my list as a fishing partner when this is all over.
  15. I think the DEA would be interested in this operation 😄
  16. Tacos with 80/20=Good 😄
  17. Rookie mistake 😄

    What's Cooking?

Interesting! We’re having a bumper crop of dandelions. Maybe need to do a little lawn to table here!
  19. For a bunch of guys that like to fish, hunt, and even cook, we sure have exposed ourselves as a bunch of opinionated assholes. Life’s pretty good here though. I don’t get too riled about what other people think. I know what I believe, and I know others think differently. Not gonna hate because of that. Would rather just get along. I even listen!! Tacos tonight.
  20. @ColdWaterFshr how are your in-laws?
  21. I think it’s probably okay if you eat the boogers then wipe your finger on your pants real good. No flicking please. CDC probably has some detailed guidance coming soon.

Not any more! 😄 Plus they don’t have the green shamrocks. I mean, what the heck?? Those were the best ones.
  23. Staying home, social distancing and wearing a mask when you’re out, hand washing, keeping your fingers out of your nose, mouth and eyes all make positive difference. No one thing is the whole answer. Do them all just to be safe.

    What's Cooking?

I love breakfast for dinner! But, this sucked 😄 Kathy has some Lucky Charms that were going to be used in a school project with her kindergartners. So, I thought I’d give them a try because they were so delicious the last time I had them around 1972. They have totally jacked them up!
  25. From the 'try this will a cell phone' category What you got there, Ruby? What are you guys staring at? I never thought about it, but I guess squirrels have got teets too! Click on the pictures for an idea of the detail captured -- the little pictures in the post are reduced in size. Very happy with the resolution and sharpness of this camera and lens.
