Give me your zip code and I’ll give you a foolproof AVERAGE last frost date 😄 Ours (KC) is 4/15. My uncle waits until after 5/1 each year.
  2. Man, you’re full of hate. I need to report you to somebody 😄
  3. I know, right?
  4. Yeah, you’re right. Let’s work on the bump stock angle instead 😄
  5. There are multiple sides to this problem, and it's a tough one. One thing I think would make a big difference -- and isn't getting much attention -- is securing our schools better. It'd cost a ton of money, and we couldn't lay the burden on the local school districts or the states, but we need to make entry into schools harder, and entry with a weapon as close to impossible as we can. We did it with airports, we should be able to come up with something for schools. I think we all want to protect our kids, and don’t want to wait to see what else might work A lot of the other solutions being talked about are either unworkable, impossible or don't have the teeth to make a difference. Al made some good points on the gun control, mental health and armed teacher solutions.
  6. Yeah, if only we’d have been there!
  7. Yes, in a very basic sense that’s right. Wonder if his actions differed from his training?
  8. I think it would be one thing if the guy was in the building, the shooting started down the hall and he was able to assess the situation and react with some understanding. From what I’ve heard, he was outside. That’s a heckuva lot different. Sure, he could have quickly rigged a rope to a tree, swung in feet first through a window and made a picture-perfect landing/kill shot, but... I’m anxious to hear the whole story. If we simply conclude the blame is all on this guy, then we’re more likely to write it off to him being a coward and not work to fix that part of the equation. And, that’s really only a part of the equation.

    What's Cooking?

Out tonight, and dinner was a buffet. Imagine my surprise when this was on the line:
  10. Agree, but we just don’t know all the facts. I know his boss sure threw him under the bus. Seems to me we could find a billion or two and physically secure all our schools.

Why would you ever put sour cream into a braise of beef, onions, mushrooms, stock and red wine??? Because it tastes good! Had the itch for beef stroganoff. An oldie but goodie

I wondered about the heat mats, so I guess that’s good.

    Great Anthem Fergie!

Nope. Too many people in the room.
  16. I don't know if you're saying you've experienced those things first hand, or if you're just saying it happens. If you have, that's sure gonna affect how you look at things, and I'm gonna say a prayer for you! I have it on good authority that you're a pretty good dude, so that helps

    What's Cooking?

I thought of you the other day. Was at an Irish shop and they had canned 'Mushy Peas'. Which sounds disgusting to me too. Can you eat pea soup, or is that off limits too? By the way -- birds may not eat them, but bird dogs do. And lobster, and containers of glitter, blankets, and other assorted things.

Give peas a chance! Imagine whirled peas! The day the power of love overrules the love of power, then the world will know peas! Fighting for peas is like $%^&ing for virginity!

    What's Cooking?

Well, heck. I'm right over here in Shawnee next time you get stood up
  20. I sleep well at night, and don't worry a lick about that kind of thing. I worry more about folks that worry about that stuff than I worry about it myself. And I'm not a worrier. Yep, I'm well prepared to go down without much of a fight. And my kids don't return texts as fast as I think they should, so they're on their own.

    What's Cooking?

I'm kinda on the bubble. I can see benefits, and it's not that expensive and does;t take up much space. rps' steak sure looked good the other night. I'm in a really quick or really slow cooking mode right now. Also, trying to accumulate less stuff. It's a pickle!

    Great Anthem Fergie!

I know JoeD and Wrench are just being their usual messed up selves with all this, but seriously...When we all figure out that tribute to something higher or bigger than ourselves is a good thing, we’ll have a lot less problems. Sermon over.

    What's Cooking?

Char is good! I almost clicked ‘buy with one click’ on a Susie VD machine the other day. But I didn’t. 😄

    What's Cooking?

Pretty boring. Baked swai filet with blackened seasoning and some roasted buttnut squash with a little maple syrup. Squash didn’t char like I wanted so I hit it with the torch.
