We lost a great one: Charles Gusewelle, who wrote for the Kansas City Star for over 60 years, passed away this week. He wrote on a wide range of topics -- from foreign travel to life at home with his pets to stories about the Ozarks. He was an avid outdoorsman, had a little cabin in the Ozarks and hunted over Brittanys. One of his books, The Rufus Chronicle: Another Autumn is a great read, especially if you're a bird dog lover, but even if you like dogs or just good, humorous writing. Rufus was one of his Brittanys, who was a bit of a character. If you've got a heart, the story will put a lump in your throat.
I haven't watched this show, Away From it All, yet, but it popped up on my Facebook feed. His stuff is usually a sure thing -- I'll watch it soon.
Gonna miss reading his stuff, but there's a huge body of it out there to re-read.
