    What's Cooking?

Shrimp, rotini and some of the Cascone's diablo sauce from the other night. And, no those weren't the shrimp. They just crack me up so I took a pic at the store. 'Good eating too...' Who's doing the marketing for these guys???

    What's Cooking?

I never think to put some meat on a salad. Until now that is ?
  4. Absotively!
  5. Yeah, I'm with you on the Nikon P&S, though I don't have personal experience with them I have heard enough stories that I've avoided them. Maybe Al will weigh in? My ancient Olympus waterproof P&S needs to be replaced at some point, so I'm glad you're sharing your experiences. Other cameras are Nikon. My D200 is getting a little long in the tooth and I need to send it in for some cleanup and repair. The dials are very sticky, and the auto focus button doesn't engage anymore. Just got my flash back from them for repairs and that wasn't cheap, but cheaper than an equivalent new or even a decent used one, so I'm not grumbling too much. I'm not using it enough to justify an upgrade, but the new ones with ultra high ISO and video capabilities are sure sweet sounding. If I had younger kids I'd be all over one of those.
  6. Well, you ripped off the scab with that comment man. It has been a while. Drag your butt up I-49 sometime and I'll fill you in, but life is good.
  7. Now that I think about it, I could drop the seats down and slide a yak into the back of my SUV pretty easily. Oh crap, that thought may have cost me $$$$
  8. That's sweet! Village People while you fish! Or George Michael...Rick Astley...
  9. How are you gonna hoist an 80 pound yak onto that Camry? You're a pu$$y What do you even hold on to? I've got a 16-1/2 foot canoe that's about 55 pounds and I can jerk it up over my head and walk around the block if I want to. I don't want to, but I could. Oh, and lunch anytime -- but you're the one with an expense account. I really do think the yaks are cool, and would be a lot of fun on a local lake or pond. Maybe even on a stream. But, personally, I just can't get there.
  10. You touch on several things there that are what keeps me from going the kayak route. Weight, ease of transporting, speed, storage... I think you give up versatility too. One or two people? Big cooler or small? Tackle box or smaller boxes? Throw in a chair? A canoe is like a blank canvas. The yaks have most things predetermined for you. But hey, Ronnie wants a yak ?
  11. Sweetness! I'd love to see more pics on your setup.
  12. I'm not really in the market, but that Ocean Kayak at 56 pounds is pretty light. And weight, plus overall ability to throw it on top of a vehicle, would be big deals to me -- one of the reasons I'm not really in the market for a kayak.

    What's Cooking?

Oh, OK. That's better I've never had squirrel. Chile Verde in the slow cooker for tonight. Small pork loin roast, a bunch of chopped onion, garlic, parsley, lemon pepper, chicken broth and a couple jars of Herdez green salsa.

I just can't bare to to eat a green one this time of year. At the end of the season when they're not gonna ripen, sure. I guess I did eat a few Sun Golds the other night. I've thought I'd beat the 4th before only to have them languish on the vine for weeks. I guess we'll see.
  15. I was coming up I35 from a visit to the Flint Hills over the weekend. Always kinda sucks that they're closed on Sundays.

    What's Cooking?

That's a really unique sounding recipe. From your picture I figured green chiles or tomatillos. Not so! Interesting. So, the smell was bad?

    What's Cooking?

Hmmm. I'm gonna need to check them out. Delivery is a good thing as I haven't seen them in local stores. I was in Hermann, MO a couple weekends ago and there is the Hermann Wursthaus there. Outstanding brats and sausages. My fave was a roasted pear brat. Lebanon Bologna too. Dang. Brought a bunch of their stuff home for the freezer. Gotta work my way through that furst. ?

Looking good there Marty. Those maters are crazy! Picked a few gooseberries last night. I'll pick more tonight and get some black raspberries too. Brought in two Cubanelles last night too. May grill those tonight. A few maters are close. I'll likely have some Sun Golds this week and maybe a Brandywine or two. That's pretty early for these parts. Gonna have a bumper crop of carrots soon too. Fweakin' wabbit is wreakin' havoc on my bush beans. He's gonna get a little hot sauce in his next mouthful Garlic and beets soon too.

    What's Cooking?

So, last weekend I'm up in New Glarus, WI at the annual Beer, Bacon and Cheese Festival and I see these guys have a booth. Anyhoo -- it rang a bell; I think you've mentioned them a couple times. They had some brats out that were mighty tasty. Really, darn near everything there was tasty, plus there were a ton of craft beers to sample. Bacon Maple Ice Cream anyone?? It sounds nasty, but tasted a lot like butter brickle. Not greasy.
  22. Nice! Was at a conference in Boston last week and met a girl who was from Williamsburg. Williamsburg=Guy & Mae's=Great BBQ
