  1. Brett... This gave me a good laugh! Thank you sir!
  2. No need to stop coming around on the forum! Hopefully we can give you some good memories of the Ozarks and keep you up to date. Congrats and best of luck with the move and new job!
  3. Check these out... Designed more for bass and they are SWEET! One of my favorite topwater baits. 3 sizes... Cast extremely well, walk and spit like crazy. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Evergreen_SB_Topwater_Plug/descpage-EGSBS.html
  4. You must be located close to us in the Mid Lake area (or you are in the Dam area)... I recognize almost every dock and bank that they fished in that video as they are right by our lake house. I was actually down there with a buddy that weekend and we thought it was strange there was a boat with a camera in the back. About a month later we saw this video posted on YouTube and realized we were fishing around them all weekend. They did WAY better than we did that weekend but we did scare up one decent one on a buzzbait. Should've been skipping behind docks cause we only had about 4 fish on the buzzbait The snow was pretty cool though!
  5. Here is a great video that helped me immensly when learning to skip with a baitcaster. They promote the Tatula, but they are also sponsored by Daiwa. I do ok with my Curados but I'm nowhere near being an expert. I'd say the biggest factor that they talk about in this video is not having a full spool of line and the spool tension... Only fill your spool about 3/5th of the way and dial your spool tension in like they say. From there it's just practice, practice, practice.
  6. You may want to try the Bass Boat Central forum... They have a buy and sell section and it's almost all high quality gear like this... For this price, I'd think they'd go quick. Good luck!
  7. I'll have to come check out what you have... Thanks Tim
  8. Do you carry Falcon's Tim?
  9. This guy had a very nice jig day on Saturday!! Good YouTube channel to follow for weekly LOZ reports.
  10. You are definitely on them! Well done!!
  11. There's another one I've been getting lately where they are looking for large items that would need to be picked up by a "mover". They ask you for a price and name/address to mail a cashiers check to. They tell you they will include extra for you to pay the movers with. Their hope is that you get the check, deposit it (which your bank will do), and then they ask you to hurry up and wire the movers fees to the "movers". If you do that, you have paid them with your own money as a day or two later their check will not clear and that "money" you deposited will be removed from your account. It's pretty blatant to see, but I guess there are enough naive people out there for it to work sometimes. I usually have a little fun with them at their expense. Have them send the check which costs them like $6... Then tell them you lost it and have them send another one (another $6 for them). Then cut em loose and tell em to F off
  12. I personally throw mine on a Shimano Curado 6.3:1... I didn't want to have to by a 5.4:1 reel and only be able to use it for cranking. I have no other technique I use that I want that slow of a gear ratio. I slow down when I need to but still have enough speed to catch up to a fish if I need to. Another thought comes from a David Fritts crankbait seminar that I went to at the Collinsville fishing show several years ago. I remember him talking about using a reel WITHOUT anti-reverse when cranking. I just found this excerpt from an FLW article where he explains it... Q: Hi David, you mentioned at Guntersville that you used a reel that was not anti-reverse and that you can feel the fish better when you are cranking with this reel. I always thought that the better reels had the anti-reverse mechanisms because there is no play when you wind up the line. Could you go into detail about what you meant about feeling the fish and how that plays out when you're retrieving the crankbait? -- Dan Carlson (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) A: What happens with reels with anti-reverse is they have clutches that tighten down on the spool to keep it from going backwards. But that pressure that those reels have take away the feel you have when you're retrieving. The reels without the anti-reverse mechanism have a lot more feel to them when you retrieve your baits. It's not so much of a factor with worms or jigs but with crankbaits it is key. I would not even consider fishing a crankbait without that type of a reel. Unfortunately, the David Fritts cranking reel is the only reel made with the anti-reverse feature - unless you go way back to the older reels that are 15- and 20-years-old. I think that David Fritts Cranking Reel was a BPS reel
  13. Helll yeah! CONGRATS!!
  14. Nice! Hope that holds up for the weekend but its looking like its gonna be a little warmer and sunny
  15. I wish I was heading down Wednesday but due to my wife's work schedule we won't be down until noon on Friday. I'm not much help on the whites, but for the bass I will be doing exactly what WeekendWarrior said... Put my head down and cover water. Big black rocks on or near the mainlake. Will throw the buzzbait and whopper plopper mostly. Will also try a spinnerbait and crankbait. I have a few new swimbaits that I may give a try as well as those bass are up feeding on big gizzard shad around those rocks. If I can't get bit doing that then I'll try skipping a jig behind docks or dragging a jig on some channel banks.
  16. Nice! I'll be down the day after thanksgiving... What types of banks are you finding these whites and hybrids on? Mainlake or secondary stuff? Big rock or smaller rock? I'm guessing wind is a pretty big key
  17. I was surprised at some of the low weights. The local boys definitely did better than the national/regional guys
  18. My wife bought me a 6 month subscription of MTB for Christmas one year... It was a great gift idea and fun to get the box every month. Would I buy it for myself... no... But it was a fun gift idea for someone else. We cancelled after 6 months cause I'd rather spend that money on baits I know I want.
  19. That's a tank!! Nice one buddy!
  20. I don't know if this was ever posted here, but I came across this video today and thought it was pretty neat. Especially since it was taped on Bull Shoals this year... Check out this short video of Elite Series pro Andy Montgomery hand feeding a 10-pounder a shiner at Bull Shoals Boat Dock. Bassmaster Elite Series pro Andy Montgomery captured a short video of a bass eating a shiner out of his hand at the Bull Shoals Boat Dock at the Bassmaster Elite Series event this weekend on Bull Shoals and Lake Norfork. Pretty wild to see it come out of nowhere and take the shiner out of his hand. http://www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1663878-giant-bass-eats-shiner-from-angler-s-hand
  21. I personally don't like any of the original WW colors compared to what I can get custom painted... So I won't spend more than $10 for a pre-rap wart. I've actually been able to win quite a few and many cheaper than my $10 limit. Then I get them custom painted in colors that match the hatch and no one else has. It's kind of fun searching out the crappiest looking warts. I'm pretty sure that the A10 from Skirmish Baits is the Predator blank. And Dwain Batey paints them... So you can basically get a paint job from one of the best in the business on a Predator WW for $10-$12. He comes out with new color patterns all the time too. http://www.skirmishbaits.com/product-category/medium-diving-crankbaits/a10-wide-wobbling-crankbait/ The Teckel Drunker, LiveTarget HFC, and Spro RK Crawler are my other favorites in this category.

  23. I've always felt the same way. Why make a good fish look bad by not getting the best possible picture of it. Hold it out, get a good angle and the best lighting possible so you can truly appreciate the fish afterwards. I am strictly catch and release so the photos of my big fish are like trophies. They help me re-live those great moments. That being said, I hate when people hold a fish out and then claim the fish is bigger than it actually was. As long as you are honest about the size of the fish, make it look as good as possible even if that means you have to long arm it a little I don't know how anyone can say the first pic doesn't look better than the second pic...
  24. They upped it to 18 this year since golf is it's own seperate day now. Last year I think it was a 2 day event. 1/2 day fish with 1/2 day golf and then a full day of fishing the 2nd day. This year they are doing full day fishing, full day golf, and then a 2nd full day fishing to wrap it up.
  25. Yeah I'd take Marcus hands down if I only had one choice... The dude is unbelievable and Like Wrench said I think he's pretty decent with the clubs too. I hinted this event to my wife in case she ever wants to get me a huge present for being so great
