Anyone been out on Lindley arm from bridge to dam area, wondering what water color is? Thanks

Good stuff Bill! Only other thing I can add would be to cast and hold on with 2 hands or you might loose your whole set-up. If you put to much gumption on your cast and that braid catches and your not ready, bye-bye. ?
-
I don't believe you need a high dollar set-up to just throw the a-rig, if you don't have any rods in your Arsenal that fit the bill. I have been using a $40 BassPro rod which is a extendable rod which extends to 7-1/2 foot which works great for the a-rig. Most times they will just hammer the a-rig and at times have had a couple bigguns push the bait towards me and have not had any problems using a cheap Rod. Rod also doubles great for dd22 style cranks.

I actually just purchased them after Christmas on sale with the hat, so we will see how they do.

Cold, weather rain gear and wind break for me 100 mph rain gear with under armor base and fleece-lined blue jeans and I am pretty toasty. Now if I could just find something for the hands ?
-
I think the lake is fishing small right now with all the cold dirty water, I think a person needs to search for the water that is just stained vs. the real dirty chocolate milk water. With the lower gravois usually the clearest that's where I would start if I was on that end. Buddy may come down next week to help with some brush piles, may pull boat and fish gravois and dam area. Been a long time since I have seen lake this dirty at this time of year.

First time out in a while and all I could find was cold chocolate milk water from back of Linn Creek to the Tan-Tara area. Water temp has dropped to 40-42 degrees and fishing was sloooow with only catching one short on a wiggle wart and missing another bite on a jig. Was good to get out, had an eagle fly over top of me which was pretty cool. There was tons of shad in backs of coves still.

I am sure a bunch of brush has moved, especially main lake stuff. May go out tomorrow and see if I can find me any fishable water this way

Lesson learned, we hope ?

The question is when will the cold chocolate milk water clear up ?

I was the same way but decided to just jump in and do it to save a bunch of money. All my reels are older shimano reels, curados and chronarch mg which like I said are not that hard. Have done other reels for guys in our club, calcuttas, revos, basspro and they are all similar. Helps to have schematic when working on reels not familiar with.
-
That sounds like you have some grit on your main gear. Those old curados are a piece of cake to work on, not much to them once you get over the fear of all the little pieces which are not bad. Just lay them out in order as you take them off. I use simple green/water mix to clean parts off. There are some videos out there to help or I can help if you have questions

I have upgraded bearings on a couple reels with ABEC5 ceramic and a stainless and could tell a difference, the ceramics are a little noisier than stainless. I got mine through Smoothdrag.com and not boca. I don't believe you need ABEC7 bearings, reel tolerances are not made that fine and you will not be able to tell difference. Believe I paid $14 for stainless and $20 for ceramic for spool bearings. They have the ABEC7 bearings as well for I think $15 each. Also upgraded my drag washers to carbontex which was nice.

If it is muddy from backs to main lake you may have to put in at PB2 and fish glaize or at Shawnee bend access at 10 mm. Had a buddy fish yesterday and had 4 keepers with one over 5 and lost another good one fishing gravois area throwing rig when it was windy and a jig in slack water.

Yes, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
-
Since you are right there, start in very back of Linn Creek and work your way out. I think the backs or towards backs may be a little cleaner water than towards main lake right now with all the water they are pulling
-
Haven't been out in a couple weeks but was doing good with the a-rig, would start in very back of big coves and hit secondaries on out to main lake till you find them. Ameren pulling a bunch of water which has main lake dirty or at least it was. If water is dirty I would try a crankbait vs. a-rig.

Looks like a couple of LM mixed in there as well ?, nice
