  1. ....coffee can.....red coffee can.....Hills Brothers, red coffee can full of worms--- (For 10 points, name the movie)
  2. Allow me to clarify and elaborate on this situation a little bit. The fly rod I put in his hand was a Scientific Angler ($29.99-on sale from Sierra Trading Post for $13.99-Dad buys them in bulk to give away to friends to share the love!) This was a month or so ago. **** After a few trips and extensive research on every fly fishing site and review site, his collection has grown to include the following: 1) High Dollar Frog Tog Waders and boots.....bought on clearance of course. 2) A back up pair of waders.....you never know! 3) LL Bean Chest Back 4) Vintage/Retro 1986 Sage RPL 5wt- from the inlaws who retired to Del Boca Vista. 5) New Sage VXP 4wt Blank kit, currenty being turned into a fly rod by my dad. 5) New Echo 2wt rod......Must be for an impending trip to the Smokey Mts to catch native little brookies in small mountain creeks. 6) New Echo 8 wt rod-for bass fishing next spring. 7) A collection of Lamson and Ross reels already too numerous to mention. 8) Numerous flys, fly boxes, rod cases, leaders, tippets etc, etc, etc, etc. Oh yeah.. did I mention the new shades? ********** Can you say "Someone get me a doctor, 'cause this man's got a fever!!"? I'm glad to have a new friend in the sport but can't figure out why his wife keeps giving me dirty looks.
  3. Where is Prosperine in relation to Barclay? Up or Down stream? How do you get there by road? Thanks
  4. It was a pleasure to meet you Oneshot. We were swinging woolybuggers at Barclay and each got a few bumps but couldn't hook up. Since the rain was NOT letting up, we headed into the park to redeem ourselves. I figured if we're going to fish through a downpour, might as well guarantee ouselves some fish. Dave (XP590)
  5. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, too busy working and catching up from the other day. The other guy was right on. I can make it in 2:15 with good traffic and no stops. I figured I'd meet some other OAF guys some day. One Shot's overalls were a dead giveaway.

    Awsome

Looks beyond awesome to me! I've only hit the Current twice, mainly around Tan Vat and Parker. Where's the Rock Garden? I've got a three day trip planned in September. Thanks
  7. My personal favorite area is zone 2 from the bridge down to the end. Below the bridge there's a nice riffle and tail out. Then further down, I like the area below the hatchery outlet (pellet hole) to the whistle bridge. My best luck lately has been with size 18 tungsten zebra midges, grey and olive, or a small peach glo bug. The water was way down when I was there last Sunday so I was only fishing 1 to 2 feet below the indicator.
  8. It's them darn inland gators that done scared me off.
  9. I was down there on the 25th also and had the best afternoon I've had in a long time. Fished the end of zone two with olive and grey tungsten zebra midges, size 18, and caught fish non stop. I was floating them about two feet below a small indicator. The fish do seem a little smaller on average but I'm not complaining.
  10. Hey, isn't that shuffling? Sorry, wrong thread, I just couldn't resist. That video is incredible. No wonder Taney trout look like footballs. Thanks for posting.
  11. Is that the old Hillbilly Burger?
  12. Excellent, I'm heading down Friday and want to hear from both of you!
  13. For security reasons, I can't say which day, but I did get away to hit the Niangua the other afternoon. According the the tote board at the Bennett store, they had stocked heavily on the 26th so the fishing was pretty good. I fished at the 64 access for a few hours between the canoe launch and the gravel ramp, then headed down to Barclay until almost dark. All together, I landed about 15 and probably missed just as many. I was fishing a ginger, olive, and brown woolly buggers on a sinking tip and letting them swing in the current. I'm amazed how much Barclay has changed. I fish the upper part just below the turn in the river and it looks like the floods have drastically changed the river. The long gravel bar is about half gone and the water looks deeper than before. It still seems to hold fish though, I just had to work a little harder to get down to them.
  14. Brett Rader @ Chartered Waters would be my first choice.
  15. OK, I've changed my mind. I now officially hate the troutcam. All it took was one look at my buddy down there this afternoon throwing wollybuggers off the top of the dam to change my mind. .....must fish...must fish...why am I working????!!!??
  16. WOW! That is one fat belly B@$$trd of a bow! I've heard that fish in a tank will eat until they burst....I think that rainbow is getting close.
  17. They are nasty ugly little prehistoric things......but big browns seem to love them.
  18. Amen Matt1981! BSSP is a PUBLIC space, and I have no expectation of privacy in a public space. It is also a public space with rules and regulations which I agree to when I choose to go there, and I'm all for enforcement of those rules in order to keep the sport fun and fair for all of us. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I'm not going to try to argue anyone else's point or feelings, but I'm amazed at the anger and ire that this webcam created on this forum. I, for one, get a kick out of looking at it for entertainment, when I should be working. And from what I can see of the resolution, it doesn't look to be much of a tool to be used for enforcement of anything. I can't wait to get down there on the dam and call my friends at work so I can wave at them.
  19. Beautiful pics. I just hit Crane for my first time last fall and can't wait to get back. PS: Thanks for starting a new Crane Creek thread, the last one was getting a little old.
  20. I found this interesting article about this in Missouri Conservationist magazine. http://mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2010/03/conserv.htm

    Beautiful Day

I fished the Current around this time last year and there were also swarms of caddis hatching, but I noticed the same thing, not many fish rising to them. I did catch a bunch though on a variety of soft hackles and olive/brown wollybuggers, swinging them in the current and hanging on tight. Alot of my fishing buddies knock soft hackles as a low-tech way to fish, but I love it when they yank that line from your hand.
  22. I've been trout fishing for years, occasionally with a guide, and I'm wanting to take a guided bass fishing trip on Table Rock this season (in between my days trout fishing of course). I'm sure I could find dozens of guides to chose from online but am looking for first hand experience to thin out the search a little. Any help will be appreciated.
  23. CS, I've never fished that lower part but it's on my radar. I've heard there are some nice holes down there, and it looks alot easier to get to this time of year with some of the weeds down.
  24. has not set their status

  25. CS, Dave here, I was the guy fishing just above you late in the day. You mentioned your pine squirell (last one in the tree?) and your buddie's crawdad, so that must have been you guys. I saw you heading through the woods for the lower part as I was leaving.
