-
Not right what they did but told fing bull$hit felony.

saw an impressive craw down there as well. Going to have to do some investigating to match my lures though im sure its not that big a deal. However never hurts to match the local forage.

I thought i remember reading you drove a white malibu and your down there oftenish so kinda fit together. Thats kinda what i thought it might be, but i didnt really see the point in having so many.

So made my first trip to check out this access this evening. First impressions looked like a great place to hangout, BBQ, and just relax. I decided to head down there after buying my first ugly stick this afternoon. i wanted to get out and beat the water a little bit and get a feel for it to decide on buying another. it was the GX2 which came recommended by a fishing buddy of mine. The rod seems fine however i just tossed a little grub around on a 1/0 cast pretty decent. The thing im not sure about is the 2 piece design. living in my truck its kinda nice being able to stick it behind the seat but only time will tell once i hook something to the other end. Anyway i temped the water right off the bank came in at 47ish(not digital). Ran into Jbooth down there i believe didnt say anything ya looked busy. well just posting to post really but do have one question. The black tube deals hanging off the tree on the east bank, what is it just curious?

Thank you guys thats very helpful and appreciated greatly.

Im sure i could get used to sitting while i fish. Iv just never really had a reason to sit. Those leanin post type seats iv often considered giving a try in the boat. Time to teach myself something new.

That sounds awesome ill definitely be getting in touch with you. if the conditions are where you like don't be afraid to contact me either. also what water level do you like or think is best. back on the jacks fork i like it down around 1.5'. ill fish it no matter but find that to be optimum for fishing plus keeps a lot of floaters home to much dragging i guess .

Maybe im just being a wuss and afraid to stand up in the cheap ones lol. they just dont seem deep or wide enough for fishing. Also it was kind of a sticker shock thing when i looked up fishing kayak. Blew my mind to see a $1000-2500 kayak though had to literally laugh out loud. Ill be watching Craigs but demand must be high the prices on the used fishing yaks is still more then i can afford at this time. Or want to for that matter.

Great thank you very much.

Yea i was talking to a guy at school and he said it was to muddy to get through on foot. but all those lay downs and holes are calling my name. ill find a way in there as long as im not getting threats and having to worry about getting shot at. I considered buying a kayak for the summer but i might as well just buy a bass boat for what those things cost. Granted that dosnt help me get in there but fishing on foot has always produced the best results for me on small rivers like that. thanks for the reply.

I was thinking of fishing KK to the lake this summer in 2 mile stretchs wading. it looks like it would be great reminds me of the fishing im used to atleast from the sat imaging. only thing that worries me is the abundance of houses along the river. Im sure its safe and never really take this into consideration. is this a no fish zone to outsiders? Also this is the upper James i'm talking about right or does that refer to another location? Thanks in advance.

Being new to the area and not knowing the water at all the post in this forum make me not even want to fish at all. I understand ethics of fishing been doing it for years. Iv never fished anywhere around springfield as my rods and reels where all stolen the week i moved up from the jacks fork. Its a diffrent and crazy world around the city. Im glad i got this warning.

New To The Area. Tips On Fishing The Jack's Fork?
dtbrake replied to countryred's topic in Jack's Fork River
Have been fishing this river for many years. its a great thing having a fisherie this nice just minutes from home. You can get bit on pretty much anything. usually any jig will yeild good results i prefer the 3.5 inch natural colored tubes. senkos and pretty much any other worm or creature(imo under 5"). but man the spook jr is to much fun once the summer time hits you can get bit in nearly any situation. -
Wow alot of baits listed here i have never really given a chance. i would say that 95% of all the river fishing i do is with a gitzit and 80% of that was a 3.5 inch brown with purple flaked gitzit. i have never had a problem bringing in fish and rarely have a bad day(<10). the other 5% is a spook jr... so what size flukes are you guys throwing and senkos. i have never thrown a senko but fish flukes often at the lake. wacky worms have caught my eye and i will be throwing them alot this year. also have hardly ever thrown a crankbait/jerkbait in any situation but the river of all places geez. i guess i need to get out and fish with different people or hangout on the forums more. looks like my river bag is going to have to get a whole lot bigger.

i dont think he is talking about fishin the spring branch just where it meets the current. i can not think of a place i would rather fish if i could only hit one hole. i have caught a ton of good smallies in this little stretch. we usually put in at big spring and float down river so this is one of the first stopping points and always the last. good luck if u do try and wade it. the water is swift but during the summer months you more then likely will be able to make it across to the east side. have only been through there once this year and the water was up so not sure how the winter changed the river this yet.

ive been wondering what everyone has been having luck catching the smallies on this year. i havnt had a chance to get out yet and doing a lil pre trip research never hurt. a guy i work with walked a little above blue spring and landed 2 4 pound smallies withen 3 casts of each other but he was using cheater bait(live worms). anyone who has been to the JF this year chime in with you lure selection.

Sorry as of right now i dont have any pictures. but my GF loves the out doors and camping and fishing so being the shutter bug she is id say it wont be to long and ill have tons of pictures to post up on the boards.

Well ive never fished the 11point before and im wondering is it worth the time. its not to far of a drive but with the jacks fork with 2 miles im wondering if itll be worth the drive. i know anyday of fishing is time well spent even if you dont catch a thing. But are there good numbers of smallies between thomasville and greer. and if so what do they hit on. i would assume the same as the jacks or current but every body of water is diffrent with its own temperament. Well thanks for the info wheather it be good or bad DALTON

I would like to just take a second and introduce myself. My names Dalton Brake. i primarily fish the upper jacks fork as its so close to home. but i also enjoy fishing the current and norfork lake as well. turned 18 in December so i guess i got hooked on fishing about 12 years ago. i love my river fishing. the current is the first place i ever out fished my step dad and ever since i fell in love with it. don't get me wrong the lakes great to. well if yall have any more Questions just ask them. see you on the boards. o and my favorite all time bait is a pumpkin with purple flake gizit.
