  1. esox - next time this spring you go on a carp outting, gimme a hollar, i'll be more thenhappy to join in with ya for that. carp on the fly is so much fun i cant even believe it
  2. I enjoyed day one, when I get a minute here I'm going to finish checking out day two. This looks like a really fun thing to do.
  3. Its there, hiding under the wing. The big one, which i profile shot, has pearl, which didnt show up very well. When i went to make the second i was rumaging thru my stuff and found some brighter flash, so that went into the smaller one. You can see it in person, but my flash kinda burnt it out
  4. hehe... Camera is a Canon 30D with a Canon 50mmF2.5 macro lens with a 550EX speedlite bounced off a white card with a white foam background. Oh yeah...i guess i forgot to mention im a camera junkie as well. i see that, they look very good, i like the middle colors in them, prolley will tie something up like that soon too. I got a HUGE pack of foam tonight from hobby lobby, for 4.50. has 25 colors, 50 sheets. i cant even see why i wouldnt use any of the colors in the pack.
  5. Ah yeah, that was us, there were 3 of us. I had the hole in my waders. Well its still there but yeah...anyway..haha
  6. was it Bman or was it me and my friends? We were up in the front end of the park when the boom happened.
  7. i wish those pics were bigger, i cant see em too well but he first one looks alot like these
  8. Legs are just regular ole rubber legs tied in a knot. Foam is 3mm foam sheets fromt he craft store glued and cut to size/shape
  9. So when i first started tieing....11-12 years ago, about the only major foam fly was a beetle, and two kinds of ants. Now everything is foam. Hmm...bummer. i recently have been getting back into my tieing habits and as much as i didnt want to make the change to foam, cause it used to be a pain to work with, i am giving it a shot. mostly because hopper patterns come out amazing in foam. i found this pattern, well picture of it, on Flickr and saved it, it looked good. tonight after hitting up the hobby store i came back with all sorts of foam, and this was the result. not to shabby for never really tieing with foam ever, and having not tie anything outside of marabou jigs and griffeths gnats for the past year or two haha.
  10. See thats my problem with the hodgemens, they all of a sudden got really "weak" and get pin holes/tears all the time now. in the past year they have developed 3 leaks in random places just from brush hitting them. So i need something more robust, which i hear the simms are
  11. If you can go easy on them, the Hodgmen waders arent bad, however mine had hit the end of their life i think. I have had them for 3 years now i think, of HARD fishing, and they are just leaking too much now. I plan to go after a pair of Simms waders this spring, atleast thats what i think. the cabela's dry plus seems to be a nice option as well, and are cheaper then the Simms
  12. so its kinda like w00t.com for fly fishing stuff. neato burrito.
  13. with your mother!! zing!! no seriously we already talked about this. I have some baitfish patterns in mind that im going to start tieing soon, prolley this weekend actually.
  14. fiesty little thing!! i need to try and fish that this year i think. or atleast one of the trout areas
  15. If i get into the 30 pound backing of my fly rod im in a whole new world of uh oh haha. the steel leader that i have is ... 30 or 40 pounds, so i think it should be able to hold up to one of them, i havent decide what to use for my mono between the fly line and leader but im sure i can figure something out.
  16. I am going to do just that this summer at Busch. I have my 8 weight all geared up, 30 pound backing, flexible steel leader, all i need now is to tie some flies for them. I am just going to take traditional saltwater baitfish patterns and tie then extra large, in the 2/0 to 4/0 size and try to getthem from 6-10 inches long. i have fished alot out of my kayak, and fly fished out of it too, but i dont know if id want to do that with a muskie. the fish is gonna big, and there is way to many sharp teeth in that mouth that can grab you. Fishing from a kayak can put you in an awkward postion sometimes and thats not something i want to do with a big muskie. Plus at Busch you arent allowed to bring your own boats, you have to rent them, which ok thats fine.
  17. oh how big are they? i could probably use a couple of them.
  18. Hahahaha I dont even know why someone would even consider using that for an ad picture. hell, atleast photoshop it greenish
  19. Welcome Allen!! I am a friend of yours on facebook and was pleasantly surprised to see you on here, i even have given your stuff a plug on the board here before. Glad you found it here.
  20. I might try for that this year or next year, havent decided yet. my cousin lives in Miami right by one of the canals and i can come visit whenever i want for however long. so i need to do that soon
  21. Catch more carp Catch a muskie land a gar fish for more "wild" trout and all on the fly rod
  22. really? thats a bummer. Hm i cn find em all day long for 99 bucks here. Sorry i dont have any other help then
  23. Cricket. They are 99 bucks brand new, youth model 22 bolt action gun.
  24. I just finished shopping for an 8 weight reel. I had boiled it down to the Konic and the Sage 1680. The konic is nice because it has a really nice, very expensive drag in it, however the price is not reflecting n that at all. I went with the Sage 1680 because of two things, one it was 50 bucks cheaper , which fit my current budget at the time ( i.e. the not angry wife budget )and it is lighter. Plus another advantage is it will accept ALL sage spools, and a 1680 spool is only 40 bucks for another one. the drag is pretty nice, smooth and easy to adjust. http://www.allenflyfishing.com/xl.html There is another option, i will be picking up a 3weight reel from them after the first of the year when they come out. They have a nice drag, and they are made in America buy that guy. Plus if you befriend that company on facebookyou get a nice discount on stuff.
  25. i wont be out there til spring time, what i want to catch out here goes into hiding in the winter
