    This is a brilliant reply to a brilliant comment!! I want a boat in a bad way the kayak works but I really want something with a motor I can use to just hop up and down between access points. I should get a johnboat and toss a little motor on it.

    Looks like a good time. There should be another trip in the spring when I can make it. I'd love to fish that river from a boat with some new people.

    On a serious note, I have a 10 or 11 pound largemouth that my great grandpa would have caught. The mount is in decent shape, its got a chip in its tail and its lost a little of its shine. If you want it, you can have it.

    Nice! I still need to order some CCG eyes and play around with them. I guess I will after the holidays. I was looking thru my stuff last night and I really need a good restocking on a few key things after a couple years, plus all the new crap I want.

    My buddy pulled a real nice out of one of the deep holes a few winters ago. Might be worth trying again when I make my yearly pilgrimage to the park.

    Their warranty is if its breaks, they fix or replace....pretty much for as long as you own the dang thing. And I have also seen where if its something they don't make anymore and it fails bad, they send you brand new model. I doubt you'll need to use the warranty, I just bought another one today. So now Im up to 9

    I have a Kraken. Its been in the salt a bunch of times. No issues what so ever with it. I own only lamson and Allen reels, and the Allen drags will tighen completely, stopping the spools. the lamson's wont freeze the spools. I doubt you'll find a better reel for that price.

    I'd totally get an Allen reel. I own 8 of them. I even own this very same model rod with an Allen reel on it. I've yet to find a fish that can properly outrun the reel.

    Now its time for Brian to come back in. The stars have aligned How would you trout guys feel about another big streamer? I have one I'm toying around with that I want to get out to some people to see what they think/chance to fish it.

    Nice fish dude! I never really thought of going to the trout parks for smallies but it makes sense. I need to give you some of the crawfish flies I have, I started tying this one that looks killer in the water and it caught my biggest smallie of the year ( out of the 3 I caught )

    Tillis wasn't anywhere as good as Kirkwood.

    Walker Lake is in Kirkwood park. Tillis Park is off rock hill rd off Manchester in rock hill. They are both very easy to get to.

    I really need to do this river. Time to plan a spring trip.

    I've been going to Walker lake. They put less then 400 in, and I have seen several people out there with me. However the number of people there has greatly tapered since the first stocking. I might go try Tillis tomorrow, they put almost 900 in there.

    They stocked the catch an keep lakes last Monday FYI. My lunch break lake fished well again today, another 18" fish was landed.

    No chubs aren't striped like that. Probably some dace in winter coloring. There are lots of those in that creek.

    Olive tail, green crystal flash, grizzly hackle, olive body, orange thread. best combo I've had yet.

    Sounds good. We leave tomorrow. im hoping I can catch some browns with some big streamers. All this talk of murky water and big flashy flies has me excited.
