  1. lol .. go to the pet store and buy one of those little tiny tennis balls for small dogs and make that 1lber a 6lber
  2. Fellows always seems to be really slow during these huge swings in temp. What I have found is atleast 2-3 days of the same type weather makes for your best chances.ie.. 60's and sunny for a few days ..
  3. really wanted to take a good trip to pomme before it got too cold to mess with.. now what am i going to do
  4. niangua has so many drunks spilling beer in the water and falling out of their canoes I'm surprised there is a fish living there..
  5. I do not know about the rest of you but fishing has been really slow for me every spot I go to. Did fall fishing pass and turn to winter haunts w/o sending a memo again? Most every year I look forward to throwing my crankbaits and jerkbaits in late october but it seems like I missed that fad this year. Anyone out there not throwing a jig religiously seems to get skunked. Is there a chance we could still see some good schooling fish if the weather levels off before snow?. I think so . Whats your opinions?
  6. It was absolutely beautiful all day but yes the water is very muddy.
  7. Took a trip with the woman to cape fair had the boat out for around 5 hrs starting around 8:30 am.. clear , windy , very low water clarity. Took 3 barley keepers around the adjacent gravel point and cove at the marina. 3-10 ft around rock or hard woods, or a combo of both. lipless crank bait was the only productive lure .. could not find a jig bite at all.Slow day in all but we did not try very hard.
  8. might save your money , most people are not having much luck anywhere..
  9. was there again tuesday and it looked like it did my first report.. about 2 inches of visibility
  10. going to give it a try tuesday if we can make it .
  11. Done very well on jerkbaits and softplastics early in the morning .. at one point almost every cast. most all were dinks with a few keepers. Try cut outs and breaks in slight current and around dead falls. Most fish were taken fairly shallow at the 7-10ft range.. good luck
  12. we are indeed talking about atleast 3'.valley to white cap.. broke a battery strap just sitting idle it was that rough.. I agree with you in any normal to near normal circumstance your method would be the standard. but it was for sure the roughest i have ever seen a missouri lake, indeed the wind is your worst problem . I think its only when the wind blows up the valley on the other side of the darn and then comes right on across w/o anything to break it up..the darn is sloped and there is virtually no trees on the other side to slow the wind ..either way .. those are the best ways I have been able to get my boat on in adverse conditions if I am unable to motor it on . I am interested to hear if anyone else has a specific way of getting the boat on that could be helpful.. please add your ideas..
  13. see I'm not sure your grasping the fact that I could see a 5 hp motor not keeping up with this wind..and it came outta no where you could not and would not attempt it if you seen the 3-4 ft waves crashing over the boat dock .. I have a good sized boat and great trailer with high rails and rollers that I have launched 100x a year for 5 years strait but even at that comfort level I would not try it. I would not suggest attempting a kamikazi stunt move to get your boat stuck under the dock because you missed the mark .. or worse slam it in reverse and watch the waves come over the back like a bad ocean fishing adventure..... stick to the safest easiest way that wont tear up your trailer or boat in the process .
  14. I was there friday afternoon , at one point with no motors on and nothing but the wind pushing us my gps showed over 5mph moving speed in my boat.. thats a hell of a needle to thread but again if your comfortable enough to motor on then this thread probably isnt for you.
  15. Fellows has absolutely no way to break the wind that comes in ... try to get off the water before the wind hits 25mph. otherwise you may be looking at 3-4ft waves and a almost impossible take out . the worst scenario is west winds above or gusting to 25mph.. even 10- 15 is difficult to deal with there . with the boat ramp right out on a main point and the topo of the area it can make for a hard time for the small boats that are allowed on fellows. so if your new there or have never had this experience presented to you be very cautious . Three easy steps for easy take outs in adverse conditions.. 1. park with your trailer facing the wind so you can motor with the wind at your back hopefully taking most the drift out of your steering. 2. you can also park close to the dock and attempt to crank it on while your friend guides the boat on with a paddle or ropes (depends if your pushing or pulling). 3. barely put the trailer in the water (just enough to get your rollers wet and the front of your boat safely on) get your crank rope as far out as you think you can get on plus a little more. motor onto the first few set of rollers , attach your crank , take slack, pull the trailer forward a lil at this point and it will straiten your boat then crank it up the rest of the way... obviously trailer combos with railing and good guides help more than anything else. Hopefully you dont have to deal with this situation at all, if you do try one of these 3 tips.. good luck
  16. they told me no at the new building on springfield lake .. still counts if you have the motor on .. i asked about taking the prop off and loosing the gas , still no.
  17. ... dont waste your time it looks like chocolate milk down there.. Btw I was there friday early ..
  18. I could see the mix of current and warmth being helpful but I have never had that much luck around the areas that get fished to death like that lil spot does.
  19. you cant even have the motor w/ no gas can ..
  20. I think they temper them after they are in shape .. but I believe the plating is left off . most hooks are made to rust out .
  21. <--------here-------/\/\/\
  22. most times the fall pattern sets them back towards creeks or major obstructions along channels going back to said creeks. But in the morning I have found since the bluffs warm quicker they are most productive early. I would stay close to the river for sure though the rest of the day.
  23. at first warming period the crawdad bite was great . bluff side and chunk rock is key due to low oxygen near the dead weed beds. let your soft plastic or jig fall and set for 15.sec. if nothing happens rip it a few times really fast let sit for 10sec.. then rinse and repeat. Lots of quality if you can find the group , all spots. good luck ps . got a lot of bites during that rip and set move. its purely a reaction strike. if you drag it in slow they dont like it as much..
  24. I do this with some of my lures, usually a small flash of red in the front and white in the back...
  25. next time you guide you should lay that thing on the tailgate and hide your bass boat just to see the reaction..
