Mega Bass Xpod
exiledguide replied to exiledguide's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Yeah the price is making it difficult to be the first kid on the block to own one and with my luck throwing that on 10 or twelve pound line a muskie would eat it. Kind of an update of the old Spence Scout with the different positions to tie on your line making it a wake bait or shallow running bait. That bait worked good, wonder why I quit throwing it? -
Shut up, youse is a making me hungry!!!!!!
-
Any one seen or own this bait? I got an email advertising this bait........looks interesting but?????

Next day, serve your meatloaf on Pumpernickel bread topped with bacon, lettuce and tomato with mayo or your favorite secret sauce. I had this at the Salt Bay Cafe in Damariscotta, Maine in October 2009 it was the luncheon special.......and it was. We now eat a lot more meatloaf dinners than we used to ........but we always make sure we have enough left over for sandwiches the next day....... usually start this when my leaf lettuce is first harvested.

Anybody Else Doing A Drop Shot?
exiledguide replied to kirbydog's topic in General Angling Discussion
I was at Mike Webb's class at BPS last night and he's one of best drop shot fisherman around and you are right on your method according to Mike. He also said that he post every guide trip results and photos on his facebook page. I don't facebook yet but I might sign up. I also am amazed how much people like Bill Babler and the other guys share on this website. If you follow the fishing reports here they will make you a better fisherman. -
Thanks for posting this Chief, too often we let people who built America pass on without hearing their stories I wish I could spend time with people I knew when I was much younger who were born and lived before WW1. My heros were my Parents generation who won World War 11 and acted like it was no big deal and then built America but I never spent enough time with my Grandparents or Greatgrandparents generation.

Yeah it's there lowest priced rods, still have 5 year warranty. All the brands I started with are almost all made on the Pacific Rim.

I've bought my first St Croix rod in the late 70's, Birch Bark fly rod and have owned a number of them and and also have in the last15 years have bought a few Falcons. I broke 1 Falcon a couple of years ago but that was my fault so I've never tried to replace any rods with either company. I've bought 1 Falcon and 1 St Croix this year and both companies warranties state that you have to return to the factory. Both companies build quality rods most of wich are made in America. I'm kind of disturbed that some St Croix rods are now made in Mexico. I don't have a problem with imports as long as they are not from heathan Communist Viet Nam or Godless Communist Red China.

Where did you fish Mich or Indiana. A long time ago,1970s to mid 80s I used to get up to the Michigan City, Ind to Benton Harbor, MI area fished the St Joe around Berian Springs, Michigan never fished in Indiana, never needed to, to cheap to buy a 2nd permit. That was more than 30 years ago. I think you have the right idea with that solo canoe. Did you run into any steelhead or was it too early or late for the run? Have you ever taken that canoe into Ontario? People who never have fished up norh or in Canada don't know just how good fishing is up there.

Back around 1950 we started crawfishing at Ofallon park in north St louis. Have not caught my own in a long, long time easier to catch them at supermarket and I'm not sure how safe they might be anymore......nah I'm to lazy to catch them myself.......Some time I'll tell you why you should not ever put crawfish in a wooden nail barrel under your dad's workbench in the basement and forget to tell him.

Just as a side note. I don't care who I buy from, I've been to Cabela's in Hazelwood and Pririe Du Chien and BPS in Branson, Gurney and St. Charles and have not been impressed whith any except BPS in Springfield and I haven't been to Cabela's big store but I did get an e-mail from Cabelas, free shiping if you use their visa card until sometime in October I've always got good service from both stores.

Missouri Water Patrol Getting Ready For Drunken Boater Crackdown.
exiledguide replied to P_L's topic in Conservation Issues
I don't think I said anyone was raped I was following up on Al's comment about his niece being being threatened and a guy exposing himself to a teen age girl. In my world if you do that the best you get is probation and a place on the registered sex offender list. I never complained about people being loud or having a good time. I even posted in the past how I had no problems with the folks floating by me on the James river below Shelvin Rock how some even asked me if it was OK to float past me. Actualy the stuff I'm growing in my mind is a product of a parochial grade school education, the 10 Commandments, the Bible, loving parents who required me to act like I had a brain, Frank the cop who was the law around the white water tower in north St Louis, the United States Army who reinforced the idea of self disipline. The company where I spent most of adult life working who had no nonesense work rules. The writings of people in our history such as Franklin, Patton, Eisenhower and Truman. Authors from Twain to James Lee Burke. I don't parrot anyone elses ideas, I have always prided myself of being an independent thinker so don't either of you try to match wits with me you will find yourself only half prepared at best. I made my comment after reading Al's post and the dissmisive tone of post relating to his post. The thing that bothers me is post complaining about the law being enforced. If you feel that enforcing the law is wrong then I suggest that you should inform the media and and law enforcement and go out and get yourself arrested and beat it in court. -
Float Tube Fishing

I was told it was a sanitation issue at Fellows because it was a drinking water lake. -
Missouri Water Patrol Getting Ready For Drunken Boater Crackdown.
exiledguide replied to P_L's topic in Conservation Issues
Some of you folks are unbelivable promoting the use of drugs and alcohol on the rivers and not seeing a problem when thugs threaten a young girl with rape. What a bunch of whatevers. -
I think you can just pick whatever lake you want as the best. I've have always thought Greegs Ferry was best but when I lived in central Arkansas I had to rate Lake Catherine as the best after a guy from Hot Springs caught a 17.6 lb in April 2003 below Carpenter Dam. I found that the lakes and rivers produced better Walleye and Smallmouth fishing then I usually found in Canada and haven't gone north to fish since 1999.

Thanks to the Oreillys for donating a 3 and 1/2 mile permanent conservation easement on the James River in Stone county to Ozark Greenways that stretch of river forever as reported in the Springfield News Leader this morning.

Float Tube Fishing
exiledguide replied to Kee sims's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
I was told in 2008 you can't use tubes on any of C U's lakes. -
Dan, I believe Dale Hollow was formed by daming the Obey River not the Pidgeon, I might be wrong. I also don't understand why, if the purpose with limits and regs is to grow larger fish why any fish over the present limits should be legal, if you want big fish why is it legal to keep those fish. I also think that big fish should be released immediately, not after a delay to take photos. I know under the right weather conditions the fish might not be harmed but why take that risk.

Last smoke July 10 1997 on the way into the hospital for stage 3 colon cancer surgery didn't expect to realy quit but lying in bed attached to morophine drip not being able to get out of bed without help made me decide I never wanted to be back in a hospital so I quit cold turkey. It was not easy but not as hard as I thought it would be. I had put 4 cartons of smkes on my basement workbench, never touched them until I tossed them one month after I came home. I still reach for a smoke when I have my second cup of cofee, not as often as I used to and whenever I start my boat motor. You have gone through the toughest part getting those chemicals out of your system. Good luck.

Actualy Chief, I watched O Brother the other night on TV and the movie had notes at the bottom of the screen and stated that Robert Johnson did not sell his soul but an earlier blues singer Tommy Johnson did. Having no dealings with the devil and being pure of heart I can't verify this........but.....
