  1. In reply, yes, this was at Taney.
  2. While fly fishing last Monday, myself and my brother both witnessed several Trout float by belly up below the boat ramp near the far end below the foot path. We had seen about a half a dozen drift by. I can only suspect that they we caught, probably over played & released without being revived. If this is the case, and to those that may not know, PLEASE DON'T just remove your fly and toss 'em back like you would a Bass "per say", but keep them at hand/net & upright until they pass enough O2 through their gills and are able to swim off on their own. It's pretty discouraging to be standing there fishing all the while and see these lifeless Trout drift by right in front of you when it's too late to do anything about it. Please be mindful and responsible to the well being of the Trout. Thanks!
  3. Signed this awhile back, if you agree then PLEASE sign this petition, only about 1700+- needed to complete. Get on board and be sure to tell your friends to do the same.
  4. Yeah, we used to do that very thing in N.Cali, tall dry grass was FAST too after a few passes!!! Great times!
  5. Was is reported that the Brown's actually "died-off"? I thought it was just a low numbers year last year,....... but what do I know, I've yet to hook a Brownie. -sigh-
  6. Great pics!!! Thanks for the repports too.
  7. AND you made the Springfield-Newsleader on that fish this morning!!
  8. Congrats,... beautiful job, well done!!!
  9. I for one don't mess with facebook, twitter, or much of any of the other online "socializing" networks, is there any chance they would be able to be viewed by another means, or am I just s.o.o.l? Thanks
  10. He was offering a reel/net combo for a great price awhile back with plans to extend the offer. I bought one at the time but don't know if the combo offer is still valid or not, might be worth looking into!
  11. C'mon,... really? Didn't Ty just open up not too long ago?
  12. Phil, sorry to hear of your loss, thoughts & prayers to you and family. TJ,... great fishing report.
  13. I shouldn't knock what I haven't tried, but I've never felt compelled to "join in the fun" of repeated 3' drifts in hopes of not snagging another fellas line. I wonder how many trout get foul hooked that way? Oh well,... I'm getting off topic here, thanks for the info on the generation of the units, I'll keep a close eye on the levels.
  14. Thanks SIO3. I've never resorted to fishing in or around any of the outlets, recently tied up some different scud patterns (never really tied much of anything before), last Tue was not very productive so I thought I might try the new scuds near the outlets but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Thanks for the info!
  15. Interpretation of generation? I usually watch the charts and make a call to the SWPA to try & determine how much water is running for still being able to wade fish. Usually I pay attention to the TW (FT-MSL) green chart,) and the FLOW (CFS) red chart that's in direct accordance to the Power (MWH) purple chart. All of this is great information (thanks Phil), but if a guy (me) doesn't have a point of reference of normal flow, to flow of via generation, it's hard to determine what's wadable. So I guess my question in long would be how much CFS is there before the volume of water is no longer safely wadable. Thanks to those who would have some insight.
  16. Thanks Phil for the tag info, and I wouldn't bother changing the information here if it works for the majority, but thanks just the same. It would help if I were to go to RR more often to get more familiar with the grounds.
  17. I'm sure somebody could have better input here, but from what I gather, Tablerock turns over & is reflected on Taneycomo for the water coming "through" the dam via the generators.
  18. Gosh, is it me or is all this all too confusing? "You can fish from this zone to that zone, you can't wade in this particular section, wait,... you CAN wade in this section but only down here, no wading in this zone but you can fish from the bank, but you can't fish from the other side of the band, C&R begins from the second Friday in Nov, you can only fish Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon from 8:00am 'till 4:00pm but it states that that is at Bennett rather than Roaring River (which is the header on the regs)I assume this is at all the trout parks then ? I have my lic, I have my trout tag, now I need a "daily" trout stamp also? Trying to figure out just what the trout are feeding on during different times of the year & conditions, now trying to decipher this information is getting to be a bit much. Don't get me wrong, a good job has been done on the maps, as well as the information offered, but if reading this too much, it soon becomes overwhelming. I'm going to go back & read this thread over and try to figure out & concentrate on STAYING IN ZONE 1.
  19. Yeah, recently I've been trying the dropper setup with a midge then a scud as the dropper but never fished a San Juan yet, guess I use the trial & error method with the worms but I'd rather take a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!
  20. I'm curious to know (for not trying this before), but what's the usual rigging/setup for San Juan worms at Taney. I've recently acquired some but have never tried them before. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks forum Dudes/Dudettes
  21. Since I really liked the Alpha series 5/6Wt gun metal reel & Nano TI rod, I decided to purchase the reel/net combo Allen fly fishing recently offered. This is the 3/4WT Trout Series in Green which now resides on my TFO Sig series and the clear rubber net. Broke them both in last weekend at Taney on 20+ Trout, the drag system on these is nice & smooth!
  22. This should answer your question http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30954
  23. Good question, I'd like to know as well. I tied a few of these but haven't yet tried them as I always seem to not make it to Taney when the Japanese Beetles are in.
  24. I too would be interested in knowing this information.
  25. If I were you, I'd stay @ Lilley's, always clean & in tip top shape & you couldn't ask for better people. Besides I'd be a bit leary about some of those cheap bargain places with the issues of "traveling bed bugs" nowadays. I'm sure you'll not have THAT problem at Lilley's.
