Kneeling right is carrying fishing tackle for everybody. Obviously. Far right is the veteran and squad leader. (you can tell by the left arm prosthetic) Known as Capt. Treble.(single hooks are so out-dated) Not de-barbed. These fellas don't do catch and release. Countries no longer fear "Boots on the ground". Squad motto is .... "Don't fear the reaper, fear the sneaker!"

"Presentation wise...Dead Drift usually catches bigger fish than a more active retrieve..." bingo!! Coupled with a long line to minimize your presence is also a big plus. Especially if you are wading.(hint: you don't have to cast 70-80' to fish that length) Equally as important ..... the hook. Gammy is most definitely your friend. I say go ahead and try to spit that hook past yer rubber lips. I'm no eggspurt, just my experience fishin' for 'em. For me, the fish are just a bonus anyways.

The reason you were issued the ticket has been accomplished. Whether you "win" or "lose" the objective has been achieved. You were at the very least utilized as a deterrence. No matter the outcome, you will at least have the pictures for first person show & tell. Hey, there's always next year!

How Diddymo Got To Missouri
crawfly replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in General Angling Discussion
OB may be the one and diddimo is bad but princess leah is spreadin' some really nasty stuff that will make diddi look good! Don't ask what it is ...... I'm not at liberty to say. -
Yellow perch is the crappie of the north. When folks want to have a fish fry they go out to catch a mess of perch. They taste so good because they are in the same family as the walleye. It was also the preferred live bait for big pike and muskie. I'm glad they are stocking them. Very tasty fish!

Two different events really. If you want concentration on tying flies .... Sowbug. If you want the full Monte ...... Conclave. I was only there for Saturday but I more than got my moneys worth! Great Event! Good job Terry!! The only people that know how much work is involved with events like this are the people that do it.

Now This Ratchere Is Flyfissin'!
crawfly replied to crawfly's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
There will be a dvd and blu-ray available next month according to their website. So, you'll be able to see the whole nasty event(s) or at least a good deal more of the actual fight(s). I guarantee you if you are about to be spooled after hook-up from a motorized craft the engine gets fired up to recover line. In this scenario, you're gonna go skiing some from the get go! I bet there aren't many who have done this either. I also bet they had a blast!! -

What's In Your Vise Right Now?
crawfly replied to flytyer57's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
A Gamakatsu B10S sz. 4 hook with the lead eyes lashed awaiting further attention. Prolly become a Finnit. Oh yeah, almost forgot. Don't ask me. It's a secret fly. Only used in select locations. (don't ask that either!) -
Nice fish. That 1st. pic is also a most excellent photo. Good job both times.

If it's fly tying info you want the website with the main focus on tying is Here (that's the forum)

Yeah, I know. Just my opinion of the perfect ones. My first pair just blew out entirely after 25+ yrs. (3 sets of felts) Used both wet wading and with waders. They outlived every other boot I bought over that time frame which were only used with waders. They are easily the lightest felted boot that has ever been made and were built to last. Bad thing as it turns out because Danner no longer makes them. Good news for me is I purchased a 17 y.o. pr. (original felts) that are like new from private sale. Cost incl. shp. 21.75. The old pair never let gravel in until the tongue separated from the toe-box about a year 1/2 ago. I countered that by using a pr. of heavy hiking socks over lgt. weight ankle socks. Whatever fine got in, after that, I didn't know was there until I took them off. It's just my opinion based on experience. If I got that pair I'd pull the studs. If I fished didymo rivers I'd use a different boot and save these for good fishing. But that's just me.

Adirondack Fishing Report
crawfly replied to ozark trout fisher's topic in General Angling Discussion
The Grasse and St. Regis get the press but 40+ yrs. ago all the feeders to St. Lawrence had good numbers & size both. My folks were from Massena (dad) and Morristown/Gouveneur (mom). My first fly rod (jap bamboo) was busted clean in two by a rather large smallie. Right at the ferrule junction of the butt section. Still landed him though! What a prize and a great bonus he was for the table. Thanks for the pics otf. -
Look under Eds Web specials at Feather-Craft. He's got a Double-Fleece, Mid-Weight, Wind-Proof Jacket starting @ $44.95 right now.

OR ...... you could buy a 22 lb. fishin machine and actually do more fishin! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqi9uYhr1lU

No problem. If you use the river wear felts if ya got 'em. It's gravel from the drop to the mouth but limestone again at the mouth upstream to the bridge and downstream to the first hole. After that smooth sailing. (gravel) Good luck!
-
Yes, you can park there. You can walk an overgrown path on the south side of Finley to the mouth or walk either edge of water. A lot of slick limestone from the bridge until the first drop and not much in the way of fishing water until the james. You can wade a good bit of James when you get there. (downstream)
