  1. I used G-Flex to fix a crack in my canoe. It worked great, but I made the repair on the inside. It dries hard but somewhat flexible, making it slightly tacky. Not sure I'd want it on the outside of the canoe as it might have a tendancy to "stick" to rocks. It's definitely tough stuff, though, and would keep your skid plates attached. I might look for a harder epoxy. West Systems makes all kinds of them.
  2. You can usually find those mesh laundry bags Ronnie mentioned at the dollar store...buck a piece. They're so cheap you can just pitch the whole kit 'n caboodle at the end of the day.
  3. He's going to Yellowstone, dude. We don't have snowmelt here in July. Even standing right below Montauk Spring during summer gets your legs all numb and tingly...imagine if there was some ice cold mountain stream runoff mixed in with that. I'd be bringing my waders if I were mic.
  4. Yeah, that. Plus the bigger fish on stretches of river like that have seen THOUSANDS of lures, and have probably been fooled by them once or twice, and now they're just leery. We had the same results on the Big Piney last weekend. Lots of fish, only a few worth mentioning. In the best looking stretch of river that sees the most floaters, we did the worst, even though we did that stretch on a Monday and only saw a few other canoes. The fish just get hammered.
  5. I bought one of these taco bags last year. So far, so good. I've had wet waders and boots in it for as long as it would take to fly back from Yellowstone. The waders dry fast...hang them up while you pack all the rest of your stuff. The boots take longer but what'r ya gonna do? Just unpack it all as soon as you get home. It'll be fine.
  6. Gee, that sounds great and all...a big steaming pile of terrible AND some pork 'n' beans...but I think I'll pass on the offer.
  7. Big 'ol meanmouth. Nice fish!
  8. I have a St. Croix Avid A967.4 fly rod for sale. 7wt, 9'6", 4 piece, fighting butt. I bought it a couple weeks ago for a reel and line I have, but the rod doesn't match them the way I'd like, and the reel and line are worth more than the rod, so I guess the rod goes...it's a shame too because it's a sweet rod and feels great, but it simply doesn't work with the reel and line I have. I bought it brand new, took it on a trip last weekend, and used it for about 15 minutes. Has one little rub mark on the second ferrule from riding in the canoe with me, otherwise the rod is flawless and just like new. No tube. Retails for $280. I'd like to get $240 for it, but I'm flexible. Make a reasonable offer and we'll work it out.
  9. Well I made that comment tongue-in-cheek...obviously it wouldn't be cost effective to ship tons of chipped bighead halfway 'round the world. Besides, I hear they only like it fresh. Maybe we can find a way to just trade them straight up...we give their factory workers the only meal they can afford, and they give us some of that cheap plastic garbage they make.
  10. That may be what they say, but I don't believe there's any more pollock in those fish patties than there is beef in a Taco Bell taco.
  11. No kidding, and it can't be any worse than whatever's in a filet-o-"fish" now...at least it would be real FISH. Or they could grind it up and turn it into dog and cat food and give it to the animal shelters. Or ship it back to ASIA where the flippin' stink came from in the first place. Let THEM eat carp. They love anything that swims.
  12. LOL Classic stuff, Al. Glad your walnut won't be killing you.

    Finally!

Yeah, I'm sure the IRS takes that into serious consideration. I generally agree with Al, but it just sticks in my craw to know I'm paying for someone's drug habit. I won't say something ridiculous like "cut off all public aid to welfare"...I'd bet my house JD has at least ONE relative on government assistance somewhere for some reason. But I do think it's a good idea to start drug testing welfare recipients, not so we can just "cut off" their aid altogether, but so we can instead throw that money toward their rehabilitation and CPS for their kids. Help them get a job at McDonald's flipping poop burgers if we're lucky...then they can have their kids back. If the minimum wage was actually a liveable wage, that would help, too. There are millions upon millions of full-time American workers living in poverty...and a handful of billionaires keeping them there.

    Finally!

I'm not trying to make the case that pot is GOOD for you, I'm just saying it's statistically less harmful to users and society as a whole than alcohol, tobacco, high-fructose corn syrup and hard drugs. If they'd stop adding hundreds of chemicals to cigarettes, they wouldn't be nearly as harmful (still not health food by any stretch). I'm with stlfisher and the golf clapper. It needs to be decriminalized for a plethora of reasons. People are going to smoke it no matter what the law is...might as well pay off a little debt with it.

LMAO I was actually gonna reference that line, but thought better of it. Thanks for being the bad guy for me.

    Finally!

Alcohol is a gateway drug, too. Pot should be legal until alcohol AND tobacco are both ILLEGAL. In fact, one could (and many do) make the argument that pot is far safer than both alcohol and tobacco. People typically don't kill other people while driving high...unless they fall asleep (in which case working too many hours should be illegal, too). People don't go home and beat their wives after a doobie. People don't die every seven seconds from pot-related illnesses...cancer, liver and heart disease...A&T is doing that en masse. More people in this country die every five minutes from obesity complications than the number of folks who die in a year from the health effects of pot. And pot is not physically addictive, regardless of what anyone says. Also, pot is NATURAL. Grows right outa the ground from seeds sown by mother nature herself. Might as well make tomatoes illegal. I've never heard of anyone "trading sex" for pot, unless that person was inclined to do so for just about anything else as well. I agree with everything else you said, Leonard, and I do think that welfare recipients should be tested for marijuana simply because they CANNOT spend MY money on luxuries like a bag of weed if they can't afford food, rent and electricity. For the record, I am not a pot smoker.

    Finally!

You can smoke all the crack you want as long as I'm not paying for it. The goal of this law would be to shrink government, not grow it. We're already "intervening" by handing out checks. This legislation would eliminate some of those checks...hypothetically.

    Finally!

I'm a confirmed bleeding heart, and that's why I think if we're going to be throwing money at these people, it should be in an effort to help them fix their lives, not to support their drug habits. The marijuana issue should be separate from this one. Aside from being a waste of money, it poses no threat to society, even in the context of this new law...how much weed can one welfare recipient smoke in a week? Wait, forget that question. LOL

    Finally!

Exactly...we're already paying for the whole family. Might as well give the parents a little incentive to clean up. If the kids end up with CPS and the parents end up in state-run rehab, it wouldn't cost us much more anyway and it'd be better for all of them. Maybe we can help a few of the kids avoid becoming the next generation of losers, which they inevitably will with junkie parents. I think it's a great idea. Hope it works the way it could.
  20. I agree with Ham, unless you're targeting chubs and shiners.
  21. Wish I hadn't missed it. Sounds like y'all had a blast even though Cricket was there. If I make the next one I'll be sure to contact Al and Gavin to find out what the uniform's gonna be.
  22. Looks like a spoonbill bred with an alligator. Wow, what a fish. Too bad he didn't catch it on the line.
  23. Long casts, faster moving, lighter colored and smaller profiled baits, and LOWER CASE LETTERS.
