  1. That 4 pounder looks better, but still has that slightly malnourished shape. I'd ask the pond owner before I started pulling them out though...unless that's your pond...want some help?
  2. I don't think I've ever caught a goo that didn't just roll over on his side after a quick, hard fight. Maybe you're catching Übergoo.
  3. One of those days...we've all had 'em. Hey, at least you got an 18 incher out of it. That'd be good enough for me. Losing the rod sucks.
  4. Think that pond might be runnin' out of minners. Lookin' a little scrawny there.
  5. Bet he fought like hell for about 30 seconds, then just flat gave up, right?
  6. Their fate was sealed when they started growing those tasty fillets under their scales.
  7. Sounds more like the Bourbeuse to me...maybe Big River. I'm too lazy to paddle upstream. If I don't have a shuttle, I don't get the canoe out. I'd rather just wade a little creek.
  8. I've always wanted to do that on the Gasconade, Meramec and Current. Maybe when I retire...sigh.
  9. Wow, pretty impressive. Those are some nice fish, especially that smallie...what a beauty.
  10. I don't think they're talking about your little wimpy ones with the feathers.
  11. Nice fish Joe. I see they're done with that construction, huh? Think I'll hit that stretch next time I get a free day. How are the logjams there right now? Last time I did that stretch I had to portage several.
  12. Huh...never even considered it. Guess I figured I could pretty much cover all the water anywhere I would normally float. Suppose it would be handy now and then.
  13. That's a porker alright. Nice fish! Looks like CGB's busy tryin' to hook up with her sister. I know the feeling.
  14. Yep, I like smaller jigs, too. But my question has always been: How do you fish jigs in a river without eventually wanting to throw your rod in the water. Snag, snag, snag. I can't take it anymore. Sometimes I can get a couple hours out of a jig on a good day, but usually it's just retie, retie, retie all the live-long day, and I'm sick of it. I'm so pathetic I actually hang up T-rigged tubes pretty often. I just can't figure out a good system...good thing I prefer other baits over jigs most times anyway.
  15. Where are you going to be taking a kayak where you'll need a fish finder?
  16. Thanks Drew. Kinda tough to see though. Any way to blow it up some? Just sort of looks like any ol' smallmouth in the little pic.
  17. I don't think so. If they are inferior somehow, natural selection will take care of it.
  18. Looks like ol' Huck is gettin' fat again. Guess he should get back on the campaign trail. And when did Jon Voight go and lose his mind? "Uh, well, sir, I ain't a f'real cowboy. But I am one helluva stud!" -Joe Buck
  19. Maybe they're Chernobyl bass.
  20. Yeah, that's an odd-looking fish. Can't say I've seen one that colorless, especially a K. Usually they have more pronounced markings than LM, IMO.
  21. The thing I noticed most in all those photos was...all the junk in the bottom of your canoe. Figured you'd be the fastidious type. Good pics Al.
  22. Yeah, I guess it is. I've just never seen one that looks like that one before. Got a real long body. Pretty fish. Why do green sunfish have huge mouths, and longears, redears, pumpkinseeds, etc. have small mouths? Greenies seem more like rock bass to me.
  23. Wow, it really is pretty. I've only seen the St. Francis from way up high on a hike. Too bad about the garbage, that's a real shame. Did you catch any smallmouth?
  24. That one was out of the Meramec. I've seen a million different colors and patterns on the fish from that river, depending on which stretch it was caught, time of year, and conditions of the stream. You got any pics of what you're talking about CGB? I'd really like to see a Neosho.
