  1. Tim is hard up for help... He was looking for someone to help him in the shop, but he got me instead... So if you come in, I'll be there as well... Until Tim tells me to stay at home... Come on by and say hello and have a cup of coffee and a donut... (Hey Tim... Don't forget the donuts in the morning... ) Hey Zack... You and Ken need to come up soon...
  2. Too bad some of those chipped and broke during the process... Just one question, though... What is your lathe setup? I haven't turned since HS, but keep thinking I want to start again.... especially seeing work like this...
  3. Great stocking stuffers!!
  4. You're using the headllghts of the Excursion... I am assuming the damage comes from the UV light. There is alternative lighting that will reduce the amount of UV, but unless you're going to tie flies 8-10 hours a day every day, I don't think you'll have a problem. As for the fly shops, it's a catch-22... good lighting, including some UV, makes the material "pop out" more... If you reduce the lighting, customers can't see what it looks like and they could be tripping all over the store...
  5. I haven't read this "in depth" but those of you on John Wilson's board will know that this type of work has been done below BSD. At the urging of several folks, there were a couple of well known guides in the area brought in to help make decisions on how this should be done. I see the same thing here to assure the benefits are spread to most (can't please everyone that's for sure...) With that said, I admire MDC for this step in getting feedback from the public. I hope that this works out and feel the Taney experts are certainly at work here with this brainstorming. Phil... thanks for this thread and your involvement... My only wish is for one of those boulders to have my name on it reserved for me to rest on during long fishing sessions... Other than that, you guys are doing a fine job...
  6. Travis... very nice... CLICK HERE... You might enjoy that forum... Fellow that goes by FireHawkMike is a fine wood turner as are several on the forum... GREAT looking burl work, by the way... (We need donations for Conclave auction in October by the way... )
  7. Does this mean I get to learn how to tie Michael's secret flies? Tuesdays are good for me... (hey... Tuesday should get ONE vote...) (OK... Monday is fine...)
  8. The transfer takes place as of December 1st. No "sales" as of yet, but probably will be soon. We'll keep you posted on that. We'll be "re-arranging" the store next week and yes, the "BS" table will be up front with the coffee brewing. More to come as Tim lets me know what we're going to do. I'll be working in the shop next week...
  9. Hot off the press form the Arkansas Game & Fish newsletter... Missouri issues warning on eating raw crawfish Missouri issues warning on eating raw crawfish LITTLE ROCK - At least three individuals have contracted a lung parasite after eating raw crawfish from rivers in southern Missouri. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services along with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources has issued a warning to not eat raw crawfish. Crayfish, crawfish or crawdads contain parasites that can cause severe lungworm disease in people and animals. Cooking crawfish kills the parasite and makes the invertebrate edible for humans. The Missouri individuals contracted the parasites by eating raw crawfish from a tributary of the Merrimac River and another from the Current River. There are no reports of anyone contracting the parasites in Arkansas. These particular parasites have a life cycle that involves snails, crayfish and mammals. Before eating crawfish, people should make sure they are adequately cooked. Symptoms associated with lung disease include fever, difficult or labored breathing, chronic cough, coughing up blood and abdominal pain. However, many infections can go unnoticed, or result in only mild symptoms. The disease may also involve other areas of the body such as the spleen, abdominal cavity, skin, brain and central nervous system. If the disease is contracted, symptoms usually last about five years. These symptoms tend to subside after five years, but they have been known to persist for as long as 20 years. Is this a common practice?

  11. I'll be listening soon... Whatever happens, don't let Michael behind the wheel of the Shelby...
  12. Good video, Phil... With that much action, it's hard to determine where to point the lens... But that was very good. You could over-dub the audio after watching it and taking notes to enhance the audio, but I think it's fine the way it is...
  13. Way to small for me, but anyone who is interested in the G3s should consider working with Chance to get them repaired/replaced by Simms (pay the shipping.) Even if they don't leak... Not sure if the warranty is transferable... That's a bargain!!
  14. Congrats!!!! I landed him several times myself... just kidding... That's a nice fish and you did a good job, Scott. Proof there are big fish in Taney...

  17. You startin' a museum? Nice collection...
  18. Click here for some pictures of last year's event... Too early to commit for me, but it's on my short list for sure.
  19. Uh... maaay-beee.... Did I hit on any women or phart in the store or anything similar?
  20. Ham... You're missing a treat especially with all the generation going on. Yak... Good report! My wife lived just over the hill from Lassiter when we met and I would opt for Bayou myself over Lassiter. But you're right... Seems like it was a good day at Lassiter when it was a bad day at Bayou. Kinda weird, but they ARE very different spots. Sure do miss living a stone's throw from that stream.
  21. I didn't make it down until 9am either, but had a good couple of hours fishing. Had to leave due to obligations as this was a "business trip" for me delivering books and such. Got to visit with Ducky and MC and watch his brother fight an 8 lber then give Duane a hard time about not being able to net the big fish. Visited with Kano as well. Sorry I didn't get to make the breakfast and sorry I didn't get to visit with others. I was the only one there in shorts and just a fishing shirt. Everyone else was bundled up like it was cold or something... I'm wondering what you folks are going to do when it gets cold... If you're down there sometime and see the big brown Dodge with "Bucks & Ducks - Turkey & Trout" in the back window, look me up. I'm the taller version of my "twin brother from another mother" Dano...
  22. Geez, Mike... where are you going to hang out on Monday's now?
  23. That's the fly shop hours, Brian... You know... the hours Tim's NOT fishing... LOL
  24. We'll both tie them and the first one to tie a dozen wins!
  25. No Michael... You go ahead and tell 'em...
