Good report... nice pics... wish I was there...

The day I interviewed for the job here in Springfield, I was on my way to Camdenton to interview for another job there. I was a bit excited about the prospects of a job on LOZ since I had heard many years ago about the lake. When I got there and checked into the motel, I went for a drive around the lake... My dreams turned to nightmares of stupid people in big fast boats ruining my fishing... Honestly, with all the condos and houses at the water's edge and all the part-time boaters in boats that are way too big and/or way too fast, I'm surprised it's not #1... But I guess there are just way more crab boats...

John, Yes, after posting, I went back through the schedule and noticed Lori's program. Some really good programs this year for sure. Makes me want to be about 7 or 8 people... And with Bruce Richards along with Dave and Emily Whitlock speaking Friday night... then casting classes with Bruce... This looks to be up there with the NATIONAL conclave... You may have your work cut out for you, Michael...

By the way, Chief... Statistically, 3 out of 5 fishermen there are real a$$ho!#$....

Watched "Big Jake" and part of "Chisum" last night. But still my favorite line will always be from "True Grit." As David DuVall tells "Rooster" that "Those are mighty big words for a one-eyed fat man." The Duke (Rooster) replies: "FILL - YOUR - HAND YOU SONOFABI!#!!!!!!" I need to make that one of my ringtones...

How are you dealing with gas prices?
Terry Beeson replied to gonefishin's topic in General Angling Discussion
No, no, no, no, NO!!!... It's so you can SMELL the fish and find where they are hanging out... The bugs in your teeth are just icing on the cake... Well, Rusty... A drive OFF is better than a drive BY... But I think maybe Ducky is now packin' heat, so I would be careful about forgetting to pay... -
Welcome to the mad house...

Hey Rich, You ever eat at Mr. G's in Branson?

WUSS!.... Just kiddin' Bill. Don't blame you a bit. And all those Salmon and so little time... Be sure to take your camera and feed us poor ol' hot sweaty hillbillies some PHEESH PORN when you go!!!

Dang, Steve... I WISH I had been there and picked it up for ya... no reward would be necessary... That is a sweet net and belongs in the hands of the rightful owner... Here's hopin' someone honest enough to turn it in found it...

I may be forced to take one trip to Taneycomo this weekend, otherwise I'll be supporting the beef growers, potato farmers, and alcoholic beverage makers in my back yard.

Click here... I want to email this guy and give him some moral support...

Larry has updated the SOCFFF website with the schedule and pre-registration forms for the 2007 Conclave. Click here for more... If you fly fish at all and have never been, the Conclave is a MUST DO!! You will learn more in three days (or even one day if that's all you can make) than you can in a year!!! And with programs by guys like Bruce Richards, John Berry, Duane Hada, Al Crise, Chuck Easterling, John Wilson, Mike George, Davy Wotton, Mark Sedotti, Julie Meissner (OK.. not a guy...), Ken Richards, Art Mazzier, Dave and Emily Whitlock... need I go on? Did I leave anyone out? Not to mention all the great fly tiers who will be demonstrating their skills and even some coaching on how to tie.... And then the merchant's booths where you can see the "latest and greatest new and improved" products... And just to get the chance to go out back and cast one of Harry Boyd's bamboo rods is worth the trip... Not to mention the fact you will be within "spittin' distance" of the Bull Shoals and Norfork tail waters... THEN there is the auction - the silent one and the live one... Don't miss the live auction even if just for the entertainment... Of course, this year's will PALE in comparison to the 2008 Conclave... Right Michael? Again, I can't emphasize enough if you are even a casual beginning fly fisherman, you HAVE to go to the Conclave...

I know the feeling. Somehow, O'Reilly's published their home office accounts receivable number wrong and it is my office number. I get calls all the time from stores about their bill...

How are you dealing with gas prices?
Terry Beeson replied to gonefishin's topic in General Angling Discussion
Yep, GF... butt/u/me... And the ol' statistician's proverb states that "tortured data will confess anything..." As for swallowing a calculator, well, I have dealt with statistics for 25 years. I could go into detail about the outside factors that could have skewed the results of the test having been only one vehicle and one trial. Then we could discuss degrees of freedom, ANOVAs, and the probablility that the results do confirm there is a difference or if it could actually be CHEAPER to run the AC. But that gets into too much detail and would take more time. But with things slowing down here at work, I might just have that time in the near future... Hmmmm... actually hurt vs. just annoyed... I would say it's a 20/80 split... Me and MrDucky are the only ones really hurting... (more tortured data... ) The average driver probably uses about 70 gallons a month. With that in mind, again with LOTS of assumptions, gas prices are about 32.6 cents higher than this time last year, meaning the average driver is spending about $23 a month more on gas this month this year. The really funny statistic is the fact that crude is actually CHEAPER right now than it was a year ago... About $3 a barrel cheaper... -
Hey Steve... Are you sure that was the horn or had Ducky been eating chili dogs again?
-
Now that there is funny... I don't care WHO you are!!!

Ah, but Chief... I DID read the original post. And the information was interesting, but not enough to make a good test of hypothesis. Now with the additional and latest information and a couple of assumptions, I can give you a run down of the results. Let's "assume" a few things: 1. The tank was a 15 gallon tank... 2. The car went 365 and 367 laps/miles... 3. The average person drives 15,000 miles per year... 4. The mpg from the test would be a good "average" to use for this calculation... 5. The average person uses his AC about 1/3 of the time he is driving... The following are estimated results: A. The car got 24.333 mpg with the AC. B. The car got 24.467 mpg with the AC off and windows down. C. At those numbers, a person driving 15,000 miles per year would use 616.4 and 613.1 gallons of gas per year. D. Using the AC one-third of the time would mean a difference of about 1.1 gallons of gas. Conclusion: The difference would be around $3.58 per year (at current $3.199/gal prices in Springfield.) Chief, These are the numbers I wanted to crunch to enhance your original post. That's why I needed more numbers. This is strictly an "unscientific" conclusion based on the figures as provided and with the assumptions made. Your results may vary according to about 2,734 different factors... minimum... But, it does give us a good idea of the minimal cost of driving with the AC on... going down the highway anyway... or around a NASCAR track... Good discussion, Chief. I'm glad you posted this. And apologize for any grief I may have caused. Unintentional, I assure you... -
Hey Ducky... keep that up and this may be the LAST child.... I think I feel the chill already...

Hey KK... Hello "neighbor" from an ATU alumni... and former Conway County resident.... I'm a bit surprised Brian Wise, Al, and a couple others have not responded here yet, but, in my humble opinion, you will be surrounded by prime Smallie water in Theodosia. You should get several responses, but this may be in the wrong section of the forum.
