  1. Are those Jerry's Flies? I sell Jerry's Flies - trout spinners, smallmouth spinners, etc. That one pic looks like a magnum 4... Nice pheesh!!!
  2. LIAR!!!! LOL... Hope you have a great weekend! I think you'll get rained on tomorrow, but the rest of the weekend looks very good! I was there this afternoon and the stream looks pretty good. Stop by Larry's and Reading's for your needs...
  3. Schrock's....
  4. We might do that if you get a number of boats for me... Maybe we'll put them up by where Dennis Slane is doing the dutch oven cooking class... LOL
  5. Wish I could remember the name of the place, but maybe someone here can help... I was going through Mountain Grove on business and looking for a late lunch. I spotted Craig's Outdoors and knew I needed to stop and introduce myself and leave a catalog, but needed food first. Just down the outer road and at the motel there, I spotted a restaurant. So I ventured in. One of the specials was a "Firecracker Pasta Salad" so always wanting something different, I tried it... A bed of lettuce/salad mix topped with a penne pasta salad topped with BBQ brisket chunks topped with BBQ sauce... all I can say is EXCELLENT!!!!! So, if you're in the area and need a good meal, try this place out. And if they have it, try the Firecracker Pasta Salad...
  6. Well, I've spent the last 12 months worrying about the first weekend in October and it's just about here. The Southern Council FFF Fly Fishing Festival and Conclave is Thursday, September 30 through Saturday, October 2. So who all is planning to be there? As the chair, I'll probably be running around making sure things are going good, but I will also be helping man the Hendrix Outdoors booth. So stop by and see me and take a look at the Hendrix line of fly tackle. I think you'll be impressed. Hope to see everyone there for a great time!!!
  7. Geez Tom... I'm RIGHT HERE... I can HEAR YOU TALKING ABOUT ME!!!! I've said the same thing a lot. Not that I'm the best fisherman in the world, but I RARELY pull up to an access without first walking to the water's edge and taking a few moments to look things over. Well, maybe that's the SECOND thing I do after going to the "little boy's room." Seems to serve me well on two fronts. I'm more ready to fish and I'm more relaxed. That rush into the parking lot / caribou / grizzly / frothy casts thing is exactly why I quit bass fishin'....
  8. Gregg, For sure, bring your boat out to the fairgrounds. I know Zach Hoyt will want to get with you and I'm sure there will be others. I'd love to build one myself and Duckydoty is talking about taking on that challenge this winter as well. It'll be good to get some ideas from the different boats. I'm thinking a "drift boat rendav... ronday.... uh... rendev... uh.... get-together" is in order...
  9. They should know... Dano and Ronnie are CONSTANTLY standing in the place I want to fish and there are always fish at their feet. Seriously, they are correct. Then again, when fishing Taney, the size and number of fish at your feet is ALWAYS 10 times that of those at the end of your fly line... no matter WHERE you stand... even on the bank... STOOPID PHEESH!!!!
  10. Sounds like a great trip... Then again, anytime you're fishing it's a great trip... LOL
  11. Honestly, I doubt you are prepared to pay for a custom mold like you are describing. There are many machine shops that can make one for you, but they are expensive. Find someone who already has one and buy your jigs from them. Or, contact a fly shop and places like Fin and Feather that stock molds to see if they have the jig heads.
  12. Since you're half way between St Louis and KC, I can see why you would not always go to the closest fly shop. But I still like dealing with the local fly shop. First, when you are in St Louis or KC, stop by and look over T Hargrove Fly Shop and Feather Craft. Then in KC check out Rainbow Fly Shop in Independence and K & K on the south part of town. Once you get to know them, and even before, you can call them up and order what you want. If you have a good relationship with them, you'll get good stuff no matter what. My money is on FeatherCraft being the leader in online/catalog sales around here. Always seem to have good reviews. But the other three are very good shops for sure. I don't trust ordering anything from the big box store recommended or the other one that would have fly fishing gear among thousands other "more important to them" outdoor gear items.
  13. My first time there yesterday... BEAUTIFUL place and a hidden gem that the guys in Texas have been keeping secret from us for sure... Didn't get to fish, but it looked great! Water was up, so no wading anyway. I can tell you it's worth a trip down for some different water.
  14. DT... Those ants can be KILLER under the right conditions. This weather should prove to be ideal for them.
  15. Phil... Take me off the list. I thought I was OK for that weekend, but will be out of town with the family for vacation. Hope all goes well. I KNOW the vets will have a great time there. You put on a great event for them last year!!! Anyone who can, should do this. It is a great way to show your thanks for the men who served and gave great sacrifice for our country!
  16. I spotted him two days ago at the Taco Bell in BW... Kept calling his coworker "Elvis..."
  17. Fair report... but... WHERE ARE THE PICTURES?!?!?!?!?!?!? Be safe, my friend...
  18. Again, another nod to Korkers boots.... You can replace felt with studded felt, Klingon, studded Klingon, boat soles, etc. etc....
  19. Welcome to the nuthouse Kenny... Still plenty of fly fishermen up your way. Look forward to hearing about your fishing expeditions... (PS... Watch that Ducky guy...He thinks he's in Alaska guiding this summer...)
  20. The smallie action below Hardy is awesome! JD is correct in that Imboden is a great place to put in and motor up and down - I would recommend motoring up. There is some fishing above Hardy, but you might have limited access with a boat. Myatt Creek and Southfork of the Spring are good Smallie action streams as well, but forget the boat... unless it's a canoe, kayak, or one-man pontoon.
  21. To be honest, if you are concerned about saving money by tying your own flies, don't bother. The main reason 90% of us tie our own flies is because we want the pleasure of catching fish on something we created ourselves. There is nothing like the feeling of that first fish you catch on a fly you tied yourself, and the feeling continues with subsequent fish. But to tie in order to save money... well... unless you use EVERY bit of feather, fur, and mylar you buy, and then use ever single fly, you're not going to save money. Commercial tiers only make money due to the fact they can tie fast and use all their materials. Otherwise, it's money down the drain. So, in the end, don't begin tying to save money. Begin tying to be creative and control your fly box.
  22. Yep... they're the ones... Brian, Ryan, and Tito... They'll do you right.
  23. Hell I'll settle for you storing the Tadpole at MY place...
  24. I hope to be down there soon to check out some potential customers. Can't wait to see this area now...
