[quote name='catfish307' date='27 July Where would be the best place to put it in the lake at? Is there an area on the upper lake that I should avoid going past so as to not chance hitting bottom or large rocks. I'll be taking it pretty slow on the whole river just to be on the safe side. If someone has a rundown of where to go and not to go when the water is flowing and off, that would be great. I've been reading older posts and trying to take notes as well. I'm wanting to mostly jig fish for the larger rainbows which is why I'm wanting to go up stream as far as safely possible. Thanks for any and all of your help. Chris [/Put in at Coopers creek MDC access. It is located just off of Fall creek road. Turn off at the Lilleys landing sign and take the first road to the left. You can easily boat up to Fall creek (that area below Fall creek is non restricted for rainbows) Below Fall creek you will see a new boat dock (Fall creek boat dock). Float down the center area there and then hang just out from the channel on the bluff side there (opposite side from the homes on the other side). Then you might want to switch sides at the condos just after you see the gravel boat access (ramp is private) and fish that floating about the middle until you get past short creek. (watch for the shallow shoals where the creek comes in and stay about in the center of the stream there. Then move over and float the side where the docks are until you get back to Coopers creek. float out from the bluff side and throw in toward the bluffs. You can float all the way to Branson and tie up a Bass Pro shop to have lunch in their resturant. All of that area below Fall creek is non restricted except for Brown trout. Above Fall creek rainbows must be under 12" or over 20" and the water there is a little harder to navigate. There is a limit of 4 trout with only one brown which must be over 20".(total aggregate is still 4 trout.) I would recommend that you release all of the browns however. You should be able to catch you limits with the bows and leave the Browns there to grow larger for another day. Take a picture and let that be your throphy. Stop in at Lilleys and ask for a map and what is working. You will get good advice there and find very good prices on jigs, bait and lures that they might recommend.quote]

????????????Is there a law against catching and harvesting alligators in Mo. I would be tempted to have a little alligator tail for supper that evening. Peta shouldn't have a problem with that. Pets Evolved To Appetizers that Is.

Dardenne Creek In Busch Wildlife?...anything In It?
Thom replied to trizkid's topic in August A. Busch Conservation Area
Be sure that you put on plenty of deep woods off and coat your socks well with it. The ticks are horrendous there and anlywhere near Busch wildlife this time of year. I walked the bank this spring before the weeds and ticks got a hold on the area around the trail. Lots of weeds to pass through even going from the trail at lake 33 to the creek bank. It looks real fishy ... Lots of high eroded banks at the side but the stream itself is full of gravel shoals and deeper holes which clear up quickly. Might be a little muddy now though due to the recent heavy rains. Let us know what you found. -

Go to you nearest walmart and get the generic bottle of finger nail polish remover (It is Acetone) get the non scented one. It will be about 1.50 for a plastic bottle that will last for a long time. I never buy the head cement from fly tying stores. Just get the sallys clear nail polish or hard as nails clear and it will work great for most all that you tie. I even get some other colors ... red, white, green, etc for jig heads and eye centers. For around 5 bucks you will be set for a while.

Actually it is more specific than that. Lots of people live in Lake St. Louis but are not in the original Lake St. Louis community association. They cannot use the lake. My son lives in Lake ST. Louis within 6 blocks of the lake but does not have lake priveledes. It was his choice because he didn't want to pay the community assn fees and have a yearly assessment. By the way Nelly lived on the lake for several years in his hey day. Actually owned 2 homes. One 2 blocks from my son in which he used for his ontourage. You would have never know it unless someone would have told you. Very low profile. One home probally 1.5 mil the other 300K. There is good fishing on both lakes. Huge crappie in the spring and fall and channel cat, bass, bluegill populations are formidable. A couple of my friends work water patrol on the lake and it is heavly patroled.

Quote: Oh, and the Beatles didn't debut in the U.S. until '64. Oh sorrry Eric....I guess all of that rock music I listened to in the years from 57 until 64 still has my mind dulled. Consider the back of my keyboard hand slapped with your expertese ruler. WOW I need that! The point I was trying to make is that every generation has it's Nelly's etc. I don't see them making much of an impact on the Branson scene. Knowing the tenacity of the powers to be in Branson I don't think they are going to "jump the shark" very easily there anyway. I don't see a market for rap or the like in Branson.

Quote ERIC: Their parents fed them zero culture, and now they're reaping what was sowed and paying the price. They are our future. God help us. end quote. Seem I heard this before. O yeah it was in 1957 when the Beatles, Monkeys, Jerry lee lewis, Elvis perverted their generation of wild eyes, sex driven, swivel hipped young people that gave us the riotous 60', 70's music. Oh you don't remember. Go to the Branson shows and you will the same people who were predicted to be the lost generation now applauding the shows that promote patriotism and pride in the USA.[/b] The shows were banned in some states and white rock misician arrested in New York for playing the vile "Rock around the clock tonight"

Thanks to all for your help. I managed to get two nights that opened up at Carriage place in exchange for left over timeshare pts. I will however take note of all of the suggestions for future trips. The only way I can travel for now is by taking a nurse aid along to care for my sweet wife.

I went twice this year and totally agree with your comments above.

J.D.: I feel your pain. I have to fence any garden area at least 6' for the deer. I gave up on raising corn a few years back due to the squirrels and Racoons. They not only stripped it all off they would peel it back a few days before it was just right to pick and beat me to it the night before I was ready to harvest. I have thinned the squirrels out several times but as soon as I get them relocated or harvested for the frying pan a new family and friends move in to take their place. I started with a 5 foot fence and 2 years ago the deer jumped the fence and wiped out a whole row of KY pole beans in one night just before the first harvest was due. GRRRRRRRR. Denjack: I had the plague of Japaneese beetles earlier and they were stripping lots of stuff. I sprayed heavily with Spectracide Triazocide with a fine mist top and bottom of foilage. There were literally hundreds of them that flew off when spraying but it is good for 2 month control. My son had sprayed his lawn and got his before or when the grubs hatched and he had no problem at all. Of course after rain I did respray and have not seen any since.

I hope this the right place to post this. I am pretty well restricted from travling because of my wifes helth but I will be at Tanneycomo staying at Wyndom resort across from Laurence Welk theatre. Can anyone recommend a clean reasonable motel for the healthcare worker to stay overnigt August 4th and 5th. She agreed to come if we could get her separate overnight accomadations. She will spend the daytime and cook, feed and help with my wife so I can fish etc. You may PM or email thomharv@yahoo.com me if you know of somewhere near the dam or fall creek area. Thanks Thom

Jerod: Absolutely fabulous report. Worthy of a F&S article. I have never used the onstar on my tahoe for unlocking the car but it is a comforting feature to have. I use it often for directions and vehicle diagnosis. Easaist tire guage I have ever had. I like the fact that it is satellite driven and I have never been in an area that it doesnt work when I am out of cell phone range with my other phones. Thanks again for letting us relive your trip with you. Thom

Quote: Agnew All true. My point is the oil business is not classic capitalism. I think it used to be. If you're my age you can remember gas wars. That was when all the gas stations were actually competing for your business Absolutely correct. Politics has allowed the companies to manipulate the markets to their advantages. I marvel as I read the reasaons why gas prices go up in the market reoports. One day they tell you it is because the supply is low and the pricew at the pump goes up immediately usually 24 cents. Then the supplies are large and it takes two weeks a penny at a time for it to go down. Why do all of the stations go down and up at the same time. Can you say "monopoly"? Gas futures also cause a rise in gas prices at the pump overnight however futute makets can be easilly maiipulated by large companies with creative bookeeping figures. It is not a free market but a manipulated market that takes what the traffic can bear.

Quote:I am not a denier, Al Gore is a liar! NO wonder the earth is going to be destroyed by all of the global warming etc. The audacity of such a satatement about Al Gore. If it wouldnt have been for him and his insight of inventing the internet and then getting legislation passed for even poor common folks like us could have used this very forum wouldn't have been possible. Show some respect for a Nobel Prize winner.

JD: My point was not that wood was a better alternative but that any attempt to save energy is often penalized by the utility companies. Cold spring: NO woods was cut down for this savings to them. Dead wood and wood collected from a stream that was cloging accesses was most of the wood used. My point again was that they were penalized for not putting waste into a landfill and using wood which was mostly not usesble for any other purpose. I got your points also that wood is not a feasable alternative unless you can get it without cost and have a pick up and chain saw already. THEY DID AND THEY WERE PENALIZED FOR THEIR RECORSOUREFULLNESS.

Why the hell can't anybody figure out that you just pop that bad-boy into neutral and pull over? How can it be that this guy needs a highway patrolman tell him over the loudspeaker to put on the freakin' brakes to slow the car down, which is the wrong approach anyway? SIMPLE: Since the mecanical controls are being overridden be the ECM & Manual controls are locked out by the faulty sensor which has caused the problem. I witnessed one of these crashes recently where a young ladys car went through a beauty shop front window. I know and talked to the woman she tried the brakes and also tried to push the shift lever into nuetral. neither would work. The electronic control modules are showing defective paramaters and toyota has had recalls on them since 2009 and are still experiencing problems.

Quote:"(Germany pays you for the electricity produced by rooftop solar panels, for example). " Interesting. My son in law and daughter harvest the dead wood (firewood) from nearby woods and burn it over winter in an outside furnace that curculates water heated to their gas furnace plenum. This reduced their gas consumpution to less than 10 dollars a month. Their reward from the gas company..... They were charging them a mimumum bill fee of 30 dollars for not using enough gas. At least for a while ... they got rid of their gas furnace and replaced it with an electric one which seldom is even needed in the winter. Overal savings to them of average of 120 dollars a month.

Gene: I am glad to hear that the same staff will be back. You guys were great and I will be looking forward to stopping in when you open. With Phil's dock and now Fall creek we have great quality docks at Taney that offer great friendly customer service and provision second to none. Thom

J D: I totally agree with your comments. Sometimes a little give and take goes a long way as long as it isn't our core beliefs.

You are correct Sir!

Why ... same reason it is hitting a brick wall here in the good ole USA. No huge profits in it and it will displace the huge profit fossil fuels. I had to chuckle but refrained to comment on the ethanol experts voicing their opinions (facts?) yea right. I have used E85 in my Tahoe for over 6 months keeping track of mileage against cost. The last fill up on tuesday this week was 2.11/gallon. 45 cents below the filling station across the street. The engine runs / starts better with it and I can not tell any lack of performance. 2 to 3 miles less a gallon. It works for me.
