  1. Getting the trebles caught in the landing net brought back bad memories My buddy had bad mouthed my landing net as too small So fishing a tournament on the Rock the next weekend he brought a LARGE rubberized landing net. Using a jigging spoon I still have the mental picture of that walleye hanging over the side of the net by a foot and the treble hook hug in the other side as the walleye flipped off. I grew up on Tablerock , mostly on the Kings. I actually saw several eyes from 15-18 lbs in the freezer at the Viola boat dock waiting to go to the taxidermist. They had been caught way up the river during the full moon of February. The dock burned and they never made it to the taxidermist. I think this was around 1972. Very few people fished for the walleyes. I saw a 13 # on display as late as 2000. That fisherman was in a bass tournament.
  2. Merry Christmas to All!! I drove across the dam Friday afternoon. There was fog ,rain, wind and cold. Looked like a great place to get hypothermia. Until better weather, Happy New Year and great fishing.
  3. Sounds like a great problem to have. A Spray of household cleaner with bleach well rinsed would work. A couple of springs ago I managed to leave about a half dozen in one side of the live well for about a week. It worked well then.
  4. THE CORP SITE WILL GIVE YOU TEMPS AT THE DAM 48 surface temp 51 river temp air temp 10. Stay warm
  5. I grew up on the ROCK , Shell Knob. My dad and I built a cabin before the final closure on the dam.1956. By 2000 you had to pick a number to fish a good bank most nights. I certainly understand your frustration. On a Sunday in 2000 my grandson and I were almost swamped by the pleasure craft while in a twenty foot bass boat. I pray that Stockton doesn't become the next LOZ or ROCK. I have been fortunate not to have experienced a lot of bad manners even on the weekend and really appreciate the ability to fish midweek. Thanks for all your positive reports
  6. My 2 cents. I think it is due to all the airconditioners working during the heat advisories and warning this and last month. In Stockton Lake history, it was not possible to run both generators at the same time without causing flooding downstream. Is that still the case? Take advantage of what is visible now for the future at normal levels.
  7. Where were you????
  8. We got out and got wet but we ended up with 4 keeper Walleye, We also had several short s bass and walleyes Strange ,but beautiful day on the lake. The walleye came on bottom bouncers 18-29 feet.
  9. 82 degrees midday near dam on Monday around noon. Thermocline 35-40 feet
  10. TAKE IT EASY, one rod apice until you get the hang of it. If you and pardner let out enough line to be effective and all a sudden get hung up you need to be able to recover the other line and go back and try to free hangup. With the current temps you can troll up to 2.5 mph, if you are trying to bottom bounce 1.5 to .5 mph. As far as hooking and landing the fish, you must remainin control of your boat, especially if it is Windy. if u try to run 6 rods u r going not have fun!!!! Right now try trolling up the gut of coves and good luck
  11. I would be happy to share my boat with a partner, even a non-boater, At my age I am slow at the courtesy dock alone and a partner could hasten take in and out. This time of year bottom bouncing, trolling and brush pile fishing would be the main action. Your welcome to bring your own tackle or use mine. Boat is a 17.5 Lowe Fishing machine.1 Would welcome another Ozark anglers Meet and Greet. Ron
  12. OUCH OUCH !!!!!! Wife is a trooper. Had a friend bury a flickershad hook on Tuesday. He is rough as nails too, Ended up going to DOC as we wanted to remain friends Better luck next time. PS. Glad it wasn't the dog. Ron 11 111

How do you keep the treble hooks out of your dog?

      blacknoseddace

That is something I really have to watch out for. I keep rods to the side out of the way when not in use and she gets scolded if she steps on a rod. She's really not a problem and quite an exceptional dog. However, the possibility of her getting hooked is always there, just hasn't happened yet. Knock on wood. She loves being out there and gets excited when I hook up. Her name is Zoey, say hey if you see us out there!
